Chapter 58: HE'S THE ONE
Read online · About 6 minutesSunny's POV
Felizia nodded. I got in the car as fast as I can. When we arrived where Tyler is, he's barely breathing. Felizia helped me as we gently put Tyler in the car. She drove fast as if there's no tomorrow.
"Tyler, please...don't give up. Promise I will never make fun of you anymore."
I shook his body as I observed what he's been doing. He looked weak and dying but he can't never die. I won't allow it. I will not forgive myself if there's anything that will happen to the man I loved the most.
We reached the hospital in a span of less than five minutes. As soon as the car stopped, she went out right away. I looked at her through the window but I couldn't see clearly because it's a bit dark. It's almost seven in the evening and nobody has updated his parents yet. It makes me feel guilty and worse. If not because of me, he will not be involved in this situation.
I cried as I hugged him tight. I could see the blood never stopped flowing from near his chest. I could also feel the blood coming out from his hips.
"Tyler, I am here. Please hang on. Please." I cried even more. Someone knocked on the glass window of the car. Is that Felizia? She's wearing a surgical mask now. I can see two people following her as well. They opened the car and gently pulled Tyler as they put him on the stretcher. They moved fast in going to the emergency room right away.
"Please stay here. I will update you with his condition."
Felizia looked at me and the eye and I nodded, weakly. I am not a doctor or a hospital personnel. I know I have to trust everyone that's there for Tyler's operation. All I needed to do is to stay strong here, outside as I wait for him
I haven't remembered the last time I prayed so hard, just now. I am going to and fro to the hallway going to the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital. I don't know what I will do if something happens to him. I guess I will never forgive myself for as long as I live.
I looked at the door in front of me five meters to where I am standing. In front of me were a lot of lobby chairs people sit on when they wait for something. I realized it's a different feeling if you will be the one to wait and pray for a patient that's so dear and precious to you.
I sat down, slowly. I felt weak and low at the same time. I didn't know what to do anymore. Every ticking of the clock is a struggle to me. I stood up and decided to call my mom instead. They have to know what happened. I opened both of my palms and I can see my sweating hands. I am still shaky. I felt like having a late reaction about what happened to us a while ago.
"M-Mom," I started, gripping on the phone's receiver as if my whole life depended on it. I told myself not to cry but it's too late. I sniffed and I could hear the worried voice of my mother right away.
"What happened to you? Where are you, Sunny?"
Her voice is like an echo but it added pain to my heart. Her shaking, worried voice made my tears fall off my cheeks. This moment is so real that I want to break down any time.
I took a deep breath before I would say any word.
"Mom, we're at the hospital." I explained slowly. I could feel that she panicked right away. I told her the additional information of where we are right now. In less than twenty minutes, I could see my mom rushing towards me.
"Oh dear, oh dear." She cried as she hugged me tight.
"Those bastards," I could hear Mr. Athkinson muttered those words for the first time behind my mom as he closed his fist. "I will make sure they will be found and dumped behind bars. I promise, dear." Mr. Athkinson added, tapping my shoulders as well.
Hearing those words coming from my parents suddenly meant a lot to me. I could feel that they truly care and love me more than anything else in the world.
The doctor went outside and told us that Tyler's operation was done. However, he is still in a critical condition because there was a lot of blood that was lost. We can only assure the stability of his condition if Tyler could wake up in twenty-four to forty-eight hours.
"Mom," I cried while hugging her. I also have his mom with me. I explained everything. Good thing, they totally understood.
"You know my dear Sunny? Tyler is a brave son. I am always proud of him. He will hang on, I am very sure of it." Her mom also welled up with tears as I hugged her as well.
"He's a fighter. I know he will never give up no matter what. Let's pray for him. Let's never stop hoping that he will wake up and recover soon." She added as she caressed her back.
"I will, ma'am. I am so sorry again."
"Nobody wanted that moment to happen. I knew everything happens for a reason. Let's hope for the best."
Both of Tyler's mom and my parents talked outside the room, while I stayed inside to just be on his side.
"Hey...you're so unfair. You haven't even heard my answer from what you confessed to me, right?" I felt like talking to the air because he was only laying in front of me, motionless. I felt pity on him because of the medical apparatus being placed all over his body.
I slowly touched his hand and grip it tightly. I looked at his face. He is still closing his eyes, laying there like a dead man. I can also see his breathing is becoming weaker and weaker.
"I love you too, Tyler. Thank you so much for saving me. You don't have to do that but you're too stubborn."
I suddenly wiped my tears as soon as I felt somebody went inside the room.
"How are you?"
"Felizia, is that you?" I looked at her and she showed a pair of arcing eyes. She removed her mask and I confirmed that she's smiling indeed.
"The one and only."
"Tell me, do you know that all of this will eventually happen?" I stood up, almost grabbing her sleeve. She stepped backwards as she held my hands. If so, she's making me crazy. This is totally insane.
"Sunny, everything that is happening to you right now is the result of how you live your life and on how you make decisions."
"Can I go with you?"
"Huh?"
"Felizia, don't tell me you forgot what you're saying already? Remember? The corvette 1957?"
She just smiled as she shook her head. She examined Tyler and listed some of what she observed on the piece of paper placed neatly on a clipboard she's holding.
She looked as if she's not hearing everything I was saying. Does it still make any sense at all? Am I earning the consequence for my own decisions right now? If I do, gosh I am doomed.
