Chapter 39: YOUNG LOVE'S LIKE THAT
Read online · About 5 minutesSunny’s POV
The next day in school was a rough one. Some of my classmates gladly went and made friends with me. I can also see that Laila is doing the same thing. I felt like she’s competing with me when it comes to the attention of most of my classmates when the real thing is, I just don’t care at all.
I am not a war-freak nor an attention seeker. I only wanted to go to school for my own development and growth. I guess I don't even have time for being enemies with someone while I am in school.
After our tough lessons, I decided to go to our school library to study what our teacher taught us the whole day. I already informed Mr. Henry to fetch me after five in the afternoon. Although our class ends at exactly four in the afternoon, I still need to study in the library.
I noticed Laila also went to the library. I don't understand why but I felt that she only intended to observe what I'm going to do here. I rolled my eyes and avoided her instead. All I need to do is to avoid her at all cost. I don't want her to come near me. I don't want to ruin my mood as well.
As I strolled around the aisles of the library, somebody covered both of my eyes again. I couldn't help but smile as my heart started to race.
That smell of his cologne. How can I ever forget that one?
"T-Tyler?"
I heard him chuckle from behind me as he hugged me tight. I looked around as my heart started to race really wild. What if somebody might see us doing this? We're surely both dead for displaying so much affection inside a public place, especially that we're in the same school!
"I missed you," He said, resting his chin on my shoulder. I looked around as I removed his hand from my waist. I couldn't help but chuckle a little as he tickled me.
"Can you please stop? It's annoying!" I said between chuckles. I even hit him on the arm slightly.
Gosh, I miss him too...so much. If only he knew it. Of course, I don't want to appear obvious that I feel this way. I don't want him to be overconfident himself.
"I haven't seen you for more than a month. Where have you been?" He said as he held my hand. He pulled me to the table where he's sitting right before I arrived at the library.
I looked around and I saw Laila covering her mouth. It is obvious that she's a bit shocked about what she had witnessed. Gosh, so, I could assume that she saw what Tyler did.
I grinned as I returned my gaze at Tyler. Well, It is not my fault if this man is too sweet.
"I was homeschooled for two months. Guess who's my teacher?" I smiled as I raised my eyebrows up and down.
"Who?"
"It was Miss Marlyn! Can you believe that?"
He laughed as he widened his eyes. We even had a high-five.
"Wow! That's awesome!" He said, noticing the books I am getting in the aisles now.
"These are advanced books already! I am happy for you, Sunny!" He said as he held my hand again. I gently swallowed as I smiled. Why is he being like this? I am dying to know. Is he clearly flirting with me? Or he's only friendly that he's sweet to almost everyone?
I avoided his gaze because his smile is really contagious, it wants to melt me.
"Thanks," I smiled in a very awkward manner and pulled my hand from his touch.
"Sorry,"
We talked for more than twenty minutes. I told him about how Miss Marlyn taught me advanced lessons for high school students. Tyler just listened and nodded in agreement the whole time. I can see that he's very proud of me.
"Yes, I am enrolled here. Maybe you just forgot the time I told you about it. I'm a student of Westville Green Valley High but I am in grade eleven, junior high to be exact."
"I am glad to know that, Tyler."
"Yeah, me too. You never knew how happy I am knowing that I can see you here always."
"I guess we can bond here in the library more often, right?"
"You know what's on my mind." He said as he grinned. I stood up and I told him that I am going home because it is getting late. He walked with me until I reached the entrance gate of our school. He waved goodbye as soon as I'm inside the car. I smiled as I did the same.
Wow, this is too much for one day. Upon reaching home, I rushed towards Miss Marlyn's room to tell her what we talked about.
"I am happy that you get to meet him again dear. But, I also want you to know that your mom only wanted you to focus school without any distractions at all. I hope you understand."
"What do you mean, Miss Marlyn?"
"Your mom doesn't want you to get closer to Tyler. He might be a distraction for you, dear."
I gasped in shock. I never expected that it would come from Miss Marlyn herself.
"What? I can't believe my mom would think about that. And you, miss? I can't believe you will think about it, too." I said, disappointed. She pulled me closer to her and hugged me.
"No, no, dear. It is not what I meant. Of course, everything starts with friendship. It will then blossom to something much deeper than that before you even know it."
"I know, miss."
"Please don't think that we conclude that way. We are just being careful, dear. You're still young and you have a bright future ahead of you. What we are telling is just a reminder."
"I also want you both to know that I know my limitations. I may be young in your eyes but I know what I am doing." I answered in a polite but firm way. She even observed my reaction for a very long time before she smiled.
"I am happy to hear that from you, dear."
"Yes. I want to make myself clear. I don't want others to judge me just because I am young. I may be fourteen but I know my responsibilities." I said, frowning. It made Miss Marlyn chuckle seeing my reaction alone.
"You're very cute, dear. You know what? If I don't know you're only fourteen, I would conclude you're much older than me." I hugged Miss Marlyn as my non-verbal response. I don't want to see myself arguing to somebody if I already made myself clear.
But then, I know right? If only you know I am a seventy-six year old trapped inside a fourteen-year-old body. If only she knew...
