Her Destined Ride — Chapter 51: BABY LOVE

Sunny's POV

"I am not coming with you!" I exclaimed in front of my mom. We're in front of the office and she's convincing me to go with her after what happened. I don't want to even see her face because of what she did.

"Sunny, let's talk about this, please listen to me."

"I don't need your explanation, mom. I can handle myself." I answered her back. I even folded my arms as I frowned.

"Where do you stay right now? Are you eating your food properly?"

"It's none of your business. Don't pretend that you care about me when you sold our house without even informing me." She looked surprised to what I told her just now. I saw her gently swallowed as she tried to maintain eye contact with me.

I turned my back before she would tell me things that would change my mind. I know there were many of Mr. Athkinson's bodyguards roaming around the school premises wearing civilian clothes. That's why I tried my best to hide as much as I can.

As I was near the art room, somebody pulled me in. It was Tyler. He put his finger between his lips signaling that I should be quiet while we're hiding inside. I nodded and sat beside him as he pulled some armed chairs near the both of us.

When I noticed that mom left the school with the guards, I told Tyler that we have to leave school too, because it is getting dark. As usual, we went to the hilltop. It served as our hideout as I am hiding from my mom.

"I am so sorry for all of this," I said, gazing at him. He smiled to make me feel comfortable somehow.

"What for?" Tyler answered, looking really cool and unaffected.

I look at him to see if he knew what I meant. It is impossible for him not to. I know what the students sees in school will be the hottest topic ever. Gossips could spread like wildfire sometimes we can't stop it no matter how we try.

"You know it already. All of these things. I am really sorry because I've been dragging you to this since day one."

"No, I don't mind at all."

"I still want to apologize. I know I have caused you a lot of trouble. I feel guilty about it, really."

"No need. It happens when we least expect it." Looking at him, I suddenly felt guilty. What if I will stay like this? I am sure I will be a burden for him in the long run.

I know if this will persist, I will disturb all aspects of his life. I know he would care a lot for me. One thing I am afraid the most is, what if he'll forget to take care of himself because he's busy taking good care of other people? I can't allow that as well. The shame is on me.

I noticed he's getting something from his bag again. I couldn't help but smile because it's a special kind of sandwich this time. It is a smoked turkey sandwich. I enjoyed eating my meals with Tyler. I can feel I am the happiest whenever I do this with him. Seriously. When did I ever liked this kind of sandwich? I don't exactly know when. I only realized that I am loving it because he's the one giving it to me. I can see the enthusiasm in his eyes. He looked so happy by just offering it to me. I guess he already pictured out my reaction if I will be receiving this sandwich from him.

"Thank you, Tyler. I never know what I am going to do without you." He tapped my head as if I'm a little child under his care. I removed his hand because it annoys me so much.

"I can't stay like this forever." I muttered as I glanced at him. I noticed that he fixed his eyes on me as soon as he heard those words.

"Of course. Nobody wanted to settle for less, even me." He said, agreeing to my words.

"But then, I feel like a joke fighting for what's right even without anything right now."

"The choices that we take in life is the thing that we wanted the most. Never regret it, Sunny."

"Yeah. I agree with you, Tyler."

"What's your plan, then?"

"I want to sleep because I am tired already."

"Y-Yeah. You must. Your eyes wanted to close any time. Please have a good rest now."

He helped me prepare my blanket and we did the usual again. He lit up the corn cubs to serve as our inexpensive, bad-to-the-health way of insect repelling. It is very effective but then I don't think I can reach the age of 76 by the year 2020 if we continue doing this everyday.

"Gosh, imagine this one? I never even experienced it even once."

"Well, here you are, experiencing it now."

"I realized it is not too bad at all. Thank you so much, Tyler."

He covered himself with a blanket and let me snuggle beside him for warmth. I also did the same, wrapping myself with a blanket as if I am a giant spring roll in front of him. He chuckled when he noticed me looking at him with pouty lips.

"You can sleep now." He said, as he touched my face, letting my head rest on his shoulders again. He's taller than me that's why he could sometimes treat me like a little child.

"Thank you, Tyler. I will never forget your goodness. I will always remember how you help me with everything I need."

He touched my hair and he caressed it gently as if lulling me to a deep sleep.

I started closing my eyes, feeling his warmth even for the last time...

Tyler's POV

Morning came and as I opened my eyes, I stretched my limbs right away. I hate it whenever I will place myself in the same position whenever I sleep at night. It's as if all parts of my body ached so bad.

I started hovering my gaze around the dawning scenery of the hilltop. I usually get up at four in the morning. However, I couldn't see Sunny anymore.

My heart started to race fast.

"S-Sunny? I am not playing games with you." I called her name but nobody replied. I can feel that I am all alone here.

"This is not a hide-and-seek game. C'mon. Why are you doing this?" For the second time around, I got no response. Did she go somewhere without even telling me?

I looked around and I could not also see some of her things. I can't even see her blanket and bag full of books and some clothes that she's bringing with her.

"Sunny! Where are you?" I tried shouting but to no avail. I did not attempt for the second time because I might wake somebody up, too.

Where did she go? Did she realize that she would eventually get tired of this set-up and she will return home because she needed to?

I looked away and I could see the sunrise slowly peeks in the horizon. I am hoping for a brighter tomorrow, if not for me, I wish Sunny will have it. I can't ask for anything more than that.
