Her Destined Ride — Chapter 54: HATE ME

Tyler's POV

I got up with a sullen mood again. Sunny has been missing for a week and I am in between finding her or giving up completely.

As I walked downstairs, I headed to our kitchen right away. I prepared my sandwich, I placed the four loaves of bread in front of me. I started putting on the ingredient to the first two loaves. After that, I closed the sandwiches using the two remaining loaves. I sighed when I realized that Sunny isn't here anymore. I couldn't share my other sandwich with her anymore because she even stopped attending school.

I guess she's really serious to be fully independent without needing the help of somebody. I stood, picking up the sandwiches and placed it neatly inside my lunchbox as I headed to school. Even my bike is looking dull right now as I gazed to it. I started pedaling it as I looked down.

"Hey! Move slower! You'll kill us both if you do!" I turned my back and I almost forgot she's not behind me anymore.

I couldn't help but stop my bike on that side of the road under a big tree. I can still hear her and on how she will scold me if I will try making the ride faster than my usual way of pedaling. I chuckled in a bitter way.

I really missed her, damned so much. If only she knew how much I badly wanted to see her. I hope she's doing okay wherever she is staying. I wish she eats well in her new home if there's any.

Sunny's POV

As soon as I opened my eyes, I went down to the restaurant's kitchen. Although the food was free and looked delicious, I never got the chance to enjoy it that much. The food at home compared to this one is much better because I got to eat with my family. Now, things are going so differently.

Right after breakfast, I decided to start work right away. I wiped the tables and cleaned the chairs. It was exactly nine in the morning and I have to show Miss Lydia that she's not regretting accepting someone like me.

I am only fifteen but then I hope she will always find me responsible and suited as one of the helpers. It's sad that I have to drop out from school even in the middle of the school year. I plan to save some money enough for me to enroll myself in the next school year.

I sighed as I looked through the glass window. I can see a lot of people rushing to their work. Others were riding a bike while there were many vintage cars running in the middle of the street. Everything is a bit busy now, I started to feel bad. Thinking that I will be left behind this school year makes me feel sick and unmotivated. However, I should get going to follow my dreams. I won't let other people dictate what I am going to do with my life now.

It's not their possession to have the authority to decide for me. I will always chase happiness and the things that will make me happy and successful someday. I know I should do things that my future self will be thankful for.

"Sunny?" I turned my back as soon as I heard Ms. Lydia calling my name.

"Yes, miss?"

"I want you to run a few errands to Mr. John's shop."

"Mr. John's?"

"Yes. I bet you know him already, right?"

Of course. How can I ever forget someone who treated me so bad I almost developed a trauma. He's a class A pervert.

"Oh, Miss Lydia? Can I do everything except that?"

"Would you mind cleaning the whole bathroom then?"

"Bathroom?"

I can see that Miss Lydia is frowning already as she put her hands on her hips.She looked very impatient that I can't help but to avoid my gaze at her. She looked irritated because I can't believe that she will tell me all these things.

"My time is precious, Sunny. Don't waste it."

"I will clean the bathroom then, Miss Lydia." I insisted right away. She nodded as I followed her. It was supposed to be Sylvia who was tasked to clean the bathroom. Miss Lydia switched our roles because I won't accept running any errands. Good thing she didn't ask me the reason why.I don't want to be the waitress. I will do everything just to avoid those men. I don't want them to notice that I somehow looked like my mother.

As much as possible, I want to avoid the possible conflict or issues relating to me. I want to work here and be invisible as much as possible. I am avoiding my parents and even Tyler to find me right away. As of the moment, I only wanted to be independent when it comes to my life and on how I make decisions my own.

All of a sudden, I came here and changed my life forever. I am supposed to be in school and yet here I am, cleaning the bathroom. I never imagined that once in my life, I will be doing this one. That I will have this kind of job, too lowly that I will result to cleaning toilets.

Tyler is not here to protect me anymore. I should always keep myself away from him as much as I can. Sylvia instructed me what to do. Even if the place was stinking to death, I would prefer staying here, spending my time. I don't want to face him again.

I started filling the pails with water and searched for detergents and other strong chemicals. I covered my mouth but I ended up coughing because of suffocation. I couldn't help but be emotional at this moment. I suddenly wondered how I got into this instantly. Is this the life that I ever wanted? Do I really have to undergo everything like this?

***flashback***

"Wow, you're old enough to be in the Senior High, but you're still in grade 7. How shameful is that?"

"Why do you care about how old I am? It is not the reason for you to treat me like this."

"Well, that's the point. I know where you will be shortly. You will drop out of school because you will realize that studying is not really for you. Then, you will marry young." Laila grinned as she gave me a mocking smile as she said those words.

I know to myself that I am 76 years old. I am very sure of what my future lies ahead of me. No, correction, I already know what my future is because that's where I came from. However, I am stuck with this life. I can't do anything about it no matter what I do and it is the worst feeling ever.

I let out a soft cry as I slumped on the ground. I want to cry out loud because everything she's saying is real. I am being stubborn. I keep on comparing the things from 2020 to this time and yet I can't even pull myself together and manage my life well. I made sudden decisions that I thought would make me. Then I realized, it is breaking me little by little everyday.

My eyes were blurry with tears. However, I have to get up to continue working here before I will make another decision.
