Chapter 20: LOVE OF MY LIFE
Read online · About 5 minutesSunny's POV
I glanced at him and the way he's been teaching me the complicated word blends. He smiled as he caught me stealing a glimpse.
"Can't you believe you have a charming tutor?"
"Silly...don't be overconfident. I am looking at another thing, not your face."
"Why are you sounding really guilty?" He chuckled. Miss Marlyn cleared her throat as she approached the both of us.
"How was it, Tyler?"
"She's doing great, Miss. I like Sunny for being a fast learner."
"That's nice to hear. Keep it up!" She winked as she went back to work. Tyler and I followed her with our gazes. I caught him smiling.
"You know what? Miss Marlyn is one of a kind. She's really selfless."
"I agree. She would offer help without expecting something in return." I answered as I looked at the worksheets she has done.
"I want to congratulate you by the way," He said, gradually changing the topic.
"Hmm?"
"For doing a great job. I don't feel like teaching a primary school child because of the kind of learning pace you have."
"Is that compliment or sarcasm?"
He laughed as he pinched my nose. "Not funny," I retorted, giving him an eye roll.
"What I mean is you're not hard to teach at all," He insisted. My frowning face turned into a happy one because of it.
"Of course, I am almost fourteen years old, not a baby." I pouted my lips as I folded my arms. He laughed because of my reaction to what he said.
"I want to say you're doing great so just keep it up." He winked and I smiled deep down. I felt fulfilled because I feel like I deserve every praise from him.
I have to learn fast. Even if it is only 1957, I have to make things right because I'd be earning everything I sow from this year to the future 2020.
I sighed and I never noticed that he saw that.
"You know what Sunny, I find you weird sometimes."
"Why?"
"Well, you seem to think deep. Is there something bothering you or what?"
"Nothing..."
"If there's any problem, you can always share it with me."
"Even if I'll share it to you, I don't think you would understand, either."
"What do you mean?"
"Will you believe me if I will tell you that I came from the future?" I said to him. He gave me that look as if waiting for me to tell him more. He seemed stunned as if trying to digest every word I just said.
"See? You'll never understand." I said as I sigh. He gave me a tap on the shoulder.
"I understand. Imagination could take us to many places even in the future." He answered me with a smile. I kept quiet as I frowned. I folded my arms and looked at the other direction.
He chuckled as he gave me more writing worksheets about three-letter words. I accepted it as I answered it all. I stood up and transferred to a different table five meters away from him.
He scratched his head as he looked at me from where we were sitting a while ago. I continued answering my writing worksheets while he read his own sets of books. I almost forgot he needed to study well, too. I have learned that Tyler Sean is a scholar and an outstanding student.
Upon knowing it, I admired him more, in secret.
I was about to finish my worksheet when I noticed that he transferred beside me. I felt my cheeks reddened. I really hope he didn't see it. It might be too embarrassing to see, I think.
"Wow! Good girl!" He tapped my head as if I am a little girl. I grabbed his hand and placed it on the table.
"I hate it when somebody will do that to me. I am not a child anymore."
"I am just happy that you're done with all of these." He got all of my worksheets as he stood up. He walked towards Ms. Marlyn's table to pass all of my worksheets. I could see Ms. Marlyn smile as she checked all of my worksheets. I could see her giving me a thumbs up when she's done with it. Tyler went back to our table and placed all of my worksheets on the table. When I take a look, it was all 10/10.
I am beginning to feel proud about myself. Because I am doing all of my best and with their support, everything went well and even possible.
"Until next time." We waved goodbye to miss Marlyn. Good thing Tyler walked with me five meters away from our small gate.
"Don't forget to lock doors and even windows just to be sure."
"I'll keep that in mind."
"See you tomorrow!" He pinched me on my nose again as he went on his way on the opposite side of the road.
"Thank you," I muttered as he walked away. I followed him with my gaze and when he's out of my sight, I walked towards the door and locked it behind me. I am always energized whenever I learn new lessons from both of them.
I feel important and loved as a person. Mom started teaching me maths these past few days and I've never been this happier.
When my mom arrived, I set the table as usual. I noticed that she's really happy and she even bought me some freshly cooked steak.
"Do we have an important occasion?"
"Is it bad to let my daughter eat this kind of food?"
"I know how expensive this is."
"Can we talk about something after dinner? I don't want to spoil my mood for eating." I nodded. We ate the food that's on the table quietly, including the steak.
After washing the plates, we sat on the dining table facing each other.
"I know you're old enough to understand things, dear."
"W-What do you mean?" I don't know but I have a bad feeling about something that she has to tell me.
"How do I start?" She held both of my shoulders as she looked into my eyes deeply.
"You can tell it to me first and we'll see."
She gently swallowed and bit her lower lip.
"Dear, I am in a relationship with Mr. Athkinson now."
