Chapter 49: SHE WILL BE LOVED
Read online · About 5 minutesSunny's POV
I cried while chewing the sandwich he just gave me. I looked silly and stupid but now, I don't care anymore.
A while ago, I just wished he would be here but I never expected that it would become real because I went to this place alone. We never even got a phone to communicate together and yet here he is, sitting beside me.
***flashback***
It was too dark as I set my foot in front of the hilltop. The trunk of the giant tree looked really scary at this time. Some branches of the trees moved as if they were alive. I felt like they were ghosts dancing before me. I decided to close my eyes as I held both of my hands.
"Tyler...please be here." I heard my own voice pleading too much. But then only crickets and owls and their sounds answered me back. I felt goosebumps all over my body from head to toe.
"I promise if you're here right now, I will love you, even marry you instead of that jerk my mom is telling me to marry!" I could hear my own voice echoing that some birds that alighted from the branch of the tree flew away because of the noise I created.
I started to feel my tears trailing on my cheeks. When suddenly, I remembered something.
"Aha!" I cried as I felt the matchbox from my pocket.
***end of flashback***
Gosh, I can't even look at him directly. I just cried because of mixed emotions. I admit, everything is just really epic. Why did I even say those words I am surely regretting right now? Well, not all of them, though. I should expect more of his presence rather than his absence, that is really so stupid of me.
"W-When did you arrive here?" I said, crossing my fingers from behind me. I hope he arrived just now or I am really dead for sure. Gosh, I realized I became stupid for one, straight hour before he appeared from nowhere.
He didn't answer me. Instead, he grinned from ear to ear. He showed me the most meaningful, epic smile the universe has ever had.
"Do you really mean it?" He said as he raised her eyebrows up and down.
"What?" I frowned as I turned my back from him. I bit my lower lip as I swallowed. Gosh, Sunny! You're really stupid! Gosh! I badly wanted the ground to swallow me alive right here, right now.
"What you said a while ago…"
"Duh, just treat that as a bad dream that never existed, alright?" I pretended to be tough. The truth is, I want to melt right away. Now, I am sure he heard everything I said a while ago.
He sighed as he shook his head from left to right. He opened his bag and handed me his water tumbler again. I grabbed it like a hungry child and drank from it. It's really cool, I felt really good all of a sudden.
"Wow, it's like it just came straight from the fridge."
"Huh?"
I scratched my head as I looked at him. I don't want to tell him things that's not too common from this time. He might admit me to a nearby mental hospital any minute by now.
"Well, it's like a cooling box in a simple explanation."
"Oh, I see. Yeah, I put it in our cooling machine before going here."
"What? You mean you often go here during nighttime?"
"I love going to places where there are so many stars for you to count."
"Isn't it difficult?"
"I got my own blanket, too." He showed me a blanket almost similar to mine.
"Wow! Our blankets almost looked identical!"
"Yeah, I agree."
"The weather is fine tonight. As long as it is not raining, the sky is my roof. I don't care much."
"How about mosquitoes?"
"Taadaa…" He smiled as he showed me some corn cubs.
"What are we going to do with that one?"
"This will keep the mosquitoes away."
"How?" As soon as he mentioned it, I started to get really excited.
***flashback***
(Sunny's life way back 2020)
"Valerie!" She roared. In a few minutes, Valerie appeared in front of her.
"Oh my gosh!" Her assistant reacted when Sunny showed her a dead mosquito on her mattress.
"Madam, please don't move! I will be right back!" Valerie rushed outside the room, shutting the door behind her. Sunny grinned as she straightened her robe. Two minutes later, Valerie returned with some electric mosquito repellents. She put the switch on. Also, she checked the windows. She grabbed the remote control and pressed it. A fine, screen protector appeared through the glass windows. It looked very classy and breathable at the same time.
"Madam, would you like to have your bubble bath again? I asked your personal maids to prepare ingredients that they will include inside your bathtub. It is used to relax the stress that was brought by that mosquito." She flashed a stiff tissue paper in front of Sunny and grabbed the poor, lifeless mosquito and crumpled it on her hands.
"Sorry for this again. Oh, before I forgot…" Sunny grinned as Valerie lit a rose-scented candle for her. It diffused all of a sudden inside the room and it instantly relaxed her.
"Is there anything I can help you with, madam?"
"Val, I love what you're doing! Keep it up!" She gave a thumbs up sign as her assistant winks back at her.
***end of flashback***
Sunny sighed as she recalled those moments. Here she is right now, coughing because of the smoke coming from the corn cubs Tyler lit in front of them.
"Are you sure only the mosquitoes will be repelled from this?"
Tyler just looked at her as if trying to understand what she meant by it. She whined when she realized he's not getting her.
"Do you think I am a mosquito, too?" She said while frowning. It made Tyler chuckle after getting what she's trying to say.
"Sorry, Sunny. This is the only thing I can do at this moment. Don't worry, you'll get used to it."
"I will really get used to it if I am dead because of second-hand smoking."
"Wow, you're the one complaining here but you're not even thinking twice before leaving your house."
After hearing it, Sunny never dared speak a single word to Tyler. He just looked at her in return and let her head rest on his shoulder.
"You should be returning home first thing in the morning."
That's the only sentence she heard before she finally closed her eyes to sleep.
