Her Destined Ride — Chapter 22: TOUCH BY TOUCH

Sunny's POV

We finished breakfast full of happiness. After informing mom that I am in favor of Mr. Athkinson for her, her smile is always on her face.

A little creepy and yet I am loving it. I've never seen her smile like that for a very long time. I guess she deserves to be happy after all.

I went to the library with thoughts drifting away from that I can't almost focus on my lessons. I forgot to tell my mom that somebody is helping me with my reading lessons. I don't want to ruin her moment, either. Maybe I will just tell her at the right time.

"Hey, Sunny...are you alright?" Tyler waved his hand in front of my face. I blinked going back to my studying reality.

"Oh, I am so sorry. Yeah, I am alright. What were you saying?"

"I said, are you done with the three writing worksheets?"

"Huh? What worksheets?"

"Here," Tyler showed the three papers scattered in front of me.

"Oh my! Sorry! I am sorry! I think I didn't notice that when you placed it here."

"Yeah. I never bothered to remind you again because I guess you're quite preoccupied with things."

"I promise to do it now," I grabbed my pen and the worksheet that he meant. I started scanning the pages and I was about to answer it when Tyler stopped me.

"How are you supposed to answer an upside-down page?"

I gasped as I chuckle. I covered my face because of that instant embarrassment I received just now. If only I could go home by teleportation I will do it.

"What happened? You can tell me about it. Please don't be shy."

I sighed as I faced him. From the look upon his face, he's willing to listen to whatever I will share with him.

"I mentioned about my father and his relationship with mom with both of you and Miss Marlyn, right? Last night, my mother confessed that he's in a relationship with the owner of the house she's working with."

I paused as I observed his reaction. He seemed to wait for whatever I will have to say next.

"Honestly, I am bothered by it."

"What did you tell your mom?"

"Of course, I have to support her. She seemed to be happy with her decision."

"If that's the case, then why are you acting like that?"

"I don't know. Maybe I am not used to this one? Of course, I always wake up with my mom and doing the same, old routines with her until I have grown up with it."

"You seem to have a point. You will have to adjust a lot."

"What do you think? Did I make the right decision?"

"I can't say you did. However, there's one thing I am proud to know that you did."

He tapped my shoulder as she smiled. I admit, it instantly melted my heart.

"You did great as a daughter. You made your mom happy."

"That's the thing. I did it for her because I can see that she's really happy about it. But the thing is, will I ever accept it myself?" I said as I gazed into his eyes. He gave me a reassuring look.

"If you give your mom's new boyfriend a chance, you will get answers for yourself. It is not bad to try, isn't it?"

"Yeah..." I got no more words to add because of Tyler's words of wisdom. I admit, it somehow made me feel better.

"Alright. Thank you for sharing those things with me. If there's something you want to talk to, don't hesitate to open it up. I am willing to hear from you."

"Thank you, Tyler."

He smiled as he pinched my nose again. This time, I did the same to him that he couldn't help but laugh.

"I did not see it coming!"

"You're used to do that to me! You think it is not annoying?" I said as I poked him on his arm. I couldn't help but laugh at him too. It made Miss Marlyn come near us. We almost forgot we're inside the library that our voices are becoming loud.

"Sorry, Miss Marlyn." We apologized, almost in chorus in a whispering tone. Miss Marlyn chuckled lightly.

"No, it is fine. Just please slow down while talking as you might disturb other people from studying too."

"Yes, miss. I will also finish the worksheets that you're giving me." She nodded as she went back to her table to review some documents that seemed to pile up on her desk. I smiled as I looked at her and on how dedicated she is when it comes to her work.

Tyler tapped my shoulder to tell me to continue what I am doing. As usual, I have to finish what I needed to do. Talking to him feels like forgetting everything sometimes.

"Yup, I know I am handsome but it's not an excuse for you to get distracted."

"Seriously?" I tried to hide the outburst of my laugh because Tyler is being silly again. Instead, I pinched his arm.

"Ouch," He mouthed, biting his lower lip as he suddenly got my hand that pinched him.

"Bad girl," He didn't let go of my hand, instead, he held it with both of his hands. He even tried putting it on the table as he played with my fingers.

My goodness! My hand started to sweat and it is getting so embarrassing. I tried pulling my hand out from his touch but he even grips it tighter.

"Not so fast...I have to play with it to get even," He smiled a little as his face got serious. Now, I am starting to get conscious about how my hands feel like.

"M-My hands are not beautiful..." I reasoned out. He looked at me and he shifted his eyes on my fingers, touching my nails one by one this time.

"Hmm, but I wonder why they fit mine

perfectly." He said as he opened my palms and clasped it with his. It felt warm and I didn't like how my heart behaved, too.
