Small Town Girl — Chapter 44

I am so tired from preparing for the birthday party, Nick wants to make a big party for his son but he said no and I let him do what he wants.

"Hey, Nick said as I enter the room

"Hi" I said and he gestures with his hand for me to sit down beside her.

"I am sorry for making you tired, I just want to make a big party for our son and I invite all my friends and their kids for them to know my family." He said rubbing my shoulder "The cakes you made are so beautiful" He added

"Thanks," I said to him

"I got something for us" He announced

"You don't have to get anything for us again, after all, that you have done for us" He shook his head negatively

"Nothing I did for you and my kids is enough, so please accept these and it is for the four of us" He reached for the gift bags beside him and places them in front of me.

I open one of the bags and found a jewelry box, inside is a diamond necklace, it is so beautiful.

"No more buying expensive gifts for me again, all the ones you bought before are still there" I look at him.

"I will try but I did not promise you that I will stop and you are going to accept all these because I have already bought them" he pointed to all the gift bags on the floor and are still like four to five bags on the floor "Please darling" He has been calling me with many sweet endearments for some time now.

"We will wear these on Max's birthday" He picked another bag and opens it, inside are four printed sweatshirts with lovely words on them for the four of us, me, Nick, Mia, and Max.

He reached out for another bag and brings out beautiful matching dresses for me and Mia, and nice matching outfits of him and Him and Max. "We will wear these first during the party and cutting of the cakes then after that we will change to the sweatshirts later"

"Thanks Nick, but don't you think that all these things are too much." All the things he bought are so beautiful.

"Nothing is too much for you because this is just the beginning you have to get used to it," I thank him again and I pack all the stuff and put them in the closet for tomorrow.

I enter the bathroom to take shower and I went to bed after Nick also went to the bathroom to take shower. I am sure the kids will be sleeping by now because Nancy is with them.

After we have done, Nick comes to bed and he moves closer to me, he pulls me to him and hugs me from the back. He already promises me that he will not do anything to me until I am ready.

I decided to put my fear aside and enjoy the moment.

NICK P.O.V

The party is going smoothly the way I want it to be and I also invite the media. I intentionally invite them I want the public to know about my family, also I want all the girls to know that I am off-market.

"Hey buddy" Nate pats my back and sits beside me.

"I can see that your eyes never leave Bella" He winked at me

"I can't take the chance to let her go again, I am even thinking of asking her not to go back again. I know this is selfishness but I want to have them around me" I said to Nate

"Go ahead and tell her," He said and I nodded my head

"I will try, I even call the media to let the public know about my relationship with her, so she can know that I am serious about here." He let out a laugh and shake his head.

"You know I am happy to see you this way, to see you whipped by Bella. It is good to see you Nick in love, I am so happy for you my dear friend" He pulls me up and hugs me.

"Thanks friend, I can now understand all that you are talking about to settle down, you will be eager to go home when you have someone special waiting for you at home," I said still looking at Bella.

"So when will you pop the question? Nate asked me

"If it is possible to ask her today, I will but I want to take it slow not to scare her away because I just ask her to be my girlfriend two months ago" I smile looking at my Angel laughing with her friends.

Shortly after my conversation with Nate, the media arrives and the media arrives and they ask me about my son and I explain to them and also show Bella as girlfriend soon-to-be-wife. Bella looked at me shocked after I said, my soon-to-be wife.

After the questions and answers with the media, we cut the cake and also take several pictures with my friends and family. Soon the party comes to an end and our guest went home, we are sitting down in the living room with Nate, Natalie, and Annie.

"Thanks for everything, I really appreciate it," Bella said, when will she stop saying thanks to me.

"Please stop saying thanks for all what I did for you or my kids, it is my responsibility" I move closer to occupy the space between us.

"That is the only way to show appreciation for what you are doing for us" I nodded my head and wrapped my arm around her waist, placing her head on my chest.

Nate and Natalie are making fun of me, they said she is a good girl, not all the other girls that are only after me because of my money.

I really love this moment, I hope Bella agrees to stay because I don't think I can live without them again.

"Nick!!!" I heard my name from a familiar voice, instantly I know that there is trouble.

"MOM, what are you doing here?" I stand up and went to her.

"Is that how you will to your mother?" she said glaring at Bella

BELLA P.O.V

When I heard Nick's mom's voice, I know that I am in trouble. I don't know what to do, should I go and greet her or I should run upstairs. When Nick is talking to her she is giving me a cold stare.

"Bella, come back here" Nick scream my name when I am about to turn and run upstairs.

"Mom, meet Bella, my girlfriend, and the mother of my kids very soon she will be my wife," Nick told his mother holding my hand tightly so that I can run again.

"I already told you that I can't accept her as my daughter-in-law, I think you only have one kid with her, or did you want to father another person's child? She looks at me up and down and makes a disgusting face.

"Mom stop, I told you either Bella or no one and it is not anybody's business if I want to father another person's child," He said to his mom.

"What did you want from my son? How much did you want from his money? I will give and leave my son's life? You this disgusting idiot, you have nothing to offer my son yet you bring another child for him to take care of, you ………" Nick scream at her to stop saying that rubbish.

She takes a long stride and gets in front of me but before she does anything, Nick stops in front of her and pulls me beside him, I hide behind him but he pulls me to stand beside him.

"Mom please," Nick says sounding annoyed. I never see this side of Nick before even he made me scared.

"You want to ruin my son's reputation but I will never allow that, I will ……." Nick shouted at her once again.

"Mom, I am sorry to say this please get out," He said pointing to the front door.

"Nick, you can't say that to your mom because of me, I can't blame her she wants the best for you. I am not fit here. Please let me go" I removed my hand from his but he pulled me back before I walk away.

"You are the best for me and you are the one I want, can't you see all my effort to win you back, for you to give me another, to rectify my mistake with you" He runs his hand through his hair "Can't you see that I love you," He said everything went silent.

After what he said, I remove my hand from his and run upstairs. I slide down the door and cry my eyes out, he said he loves me and I also have feelings for him but his parent does not approve us. How is that going to work?

Why is it that when I feel some light coming to my life, something will try to take them away from me.

"Bella, please open the door" I move away from the door, he enters and pull me up from the floor and make me sit on the couch beside him.

"Nick, please let me go, your parent does not like me, and how will this work? Your mother was right I have nothing to offer you. Please don't father another person's child, Mia is my daughter, she is my responsibility, I will take her with me" I wipe away my tears "If you want me to leave Max with you for some days then we will schedule the day you want him to be with you and me" He pulls me on his lap and hug me.

"I will never let you go, Bella, stop saying all that rubbish, you will be my wife and the mother of my kids and more kids very soon. Mia is my daughter and nothing can change that, not even my parents. As I said before Bella I love you" He said not releasing me from the hug.

"What about your mom, she ………." He connects his lips with mine not let me finish what I want to say.

"Forget about them, nobody will choose for me," He said and wrapped his arm around my waist. "You must be tired, come and take shower and rest" He carried me and drop down gently inside the bathroom "For your information, don't think you can run away tomorrow because I have locked all the doors and I am not going to work tomorrow," He said and close the door.

After I finish he also went to the bathroom and come back to bed and cuddle with me.
