Small Town Girl — Chapter 10

I am dressing for my daughter and I also want to get dressed we are going to Jack's parent house for his parent's anniversary.

We are now inside the car on our way to his parent house, when we get there, his mum is so happy to see us and she takes Mia from me and I went to greet his father and his sisters, they are so happy and they keep on chatting and my so-called fiancé is also happy and the way he is talking to his family as if he won a lottery, soon one of her sister come and sit beside me and said why am I looking at his brother like that, so you are looking how handsome he is.

"When are you getting married?" getting married is not in our plan right now I thought

"Very soon," I said

"I am so glad that he is happy that he has moved on with his life" I am curious about what she said but I want to know more

"Yes, it is true, I am also happy about that," I said

"He is really sad that he has to lock himself inside his apartment for one week," she said I still don't understand what she is talking about

"Really, wow I don't know he suffers to that extent  but all that he told me he did not say that he locks himself up to a week," I said trying to let her talk "Lily can you tell me what really happens because he told me part of it but I think he is still not free to talk about it?" it is the curiosity that wants to kill me now

"It is her wife, Evelyn"

"Wife???? They get married?" I asked surprised, Jack was married before

"Yes, he is married to her did he not tell you" I nod my head because I don't know what to say

"Evelyn is his first love in everything and her also, they met in the first year in college and since then they started dating and everything went smoothly for them mum and dad also like her, after their graduation, my brother proposed to her and they get married both of them started working but in a different company but in the meantime Evelyn get promoted in her own work and they increased her salary, her salary is more than my brother salary, soon they started having argument whenever they need something at home Evelyn will buy it, even when they go out to get something she will pay and my brother said he did not like that, even his salary is not up to her salary he should be the one to pay. It is so serious that they argue every day and night. To cut the story short my brother catches Evelyn with another man but she did not feel guilty she said that both of them are not on the same level anymore, they get divorced and my brother is so sad that she said she will never allow any woman she wants to marry to work." She said

"If he keeps on believe in that he will never get married because one woman do like that does not mean another woman will do the same," I said

"This stupid belief of him make him and Linda (Jack second sister) fight for almost a month that they did not talk to each other because he said her husband should not allow her to work because she is the assistant manager in her company that she is working soon she will be arrogant to her husband and her husband also is listening to this conversation. Then Linda told him that did he want to destroy her marriage? If your wife does that does not mean I will do that or another woman will do that" she said

"Really" Is the only word I said

"Mom and Dad always talk to him not to stick to that stupid believe of his, but he never listens but since you are working before you gave birth to Mia maybe he has changed" Changed indeed you guys don't know that I am the one suffering from what his ex-wife did to him

"Yes," I said

"Hey Bella why are you crying?" she said and wipes away my tears

"Nothing I am fine," I said an excuse myself to the washroom

I cried for some time then wash my face and Jack told me we are going home that I should get prepared, everything is silent inside the car, you wouldn't believe that this is the same Jack talking and laughing with his family a while ago is the same Jack that sit with me now. I am debating maybe I should tell him or not.

I am taking a shower for Mia to let her sleep then maybe I will talk to Jack, I can't believe that Jack was married before, I can't see any traces or anything related to him been married before, wow this guy is good in hiding things.

He is in the living room playing game, I decide to talk to him

"Jack I want to talk to you" I am so nervous right now what if he gets angry

"What?" he said harshly to the extent that I am so scared to talk to him

"Jack, who is Evelyn?" he turns his face immediately as if he has speed on his neck and his face is like fire

"What did you mean by who is Evelyn?" he said

"I am asking you"

"I don't know who is Evelyn," he said dropping his gamepad and walking to his room but I stop him

"Jack, why don't you tell me that you have married before?" I said and he standstill

"It is not necessary to tell you, it is not I am seeing her again," he said

"So this is the reason that you don't want me to work because your ex-wife is arrogant to you because she is receiving more salary than you," I said crying

"Please just forget about it" he said walking away

"You can just believe that because one woman did that to you then another woman would do the same, that is called selfish, because of what your ex-wife did to you, you don't want me to work, you won't want me to pursue my career, I can't just sit here at home doing nothing. What if I am the one that was married before and did not tell you what will you do, I am sure will break up with me immediately" I am just saying anything I like because I can't believe he was married before and did not tell me

"So are you telling me that you want to break up with me? Then go ahead you are free" he said shouting

"Really? So you did not see any big deal in all this, I mean hiding for me that you are married before, then you are selfish, I think your ex-wife make a good decision for divorcing you, or else she will be stuck to a big for nothing old fool like you" Immediately I said that, follow a hot and dirty slap from Jack

Then he went to his room and slams the door, I crying for some time before I went to the refrigerator to get an ice cube for my face. Am I making a good decision by still staying with him, I don't want my daughter to grow up without a father. If I get to break up with him now I don't have money to rent an apartment by myself now, my daughter is 3 to 4 months old and I can’t leave her with him and go away. I don’t know what to do.
