Small Town Girl — Chapter 12

I am playing with Mia in the living room as today is weekend, suddenly my phone ring and I check the caller but it is an unknown number.

"Hello, please is that Miss Bella," the caller said

"Yes, it is me, Bella"

"From Nat Group of Company, you have been accepted to work in our company as a secretary, we need you to bring your original certificate on Monday and start work and I will send the address to you now," the caller said

"Ok, Thank you so much," I said and the caller hung up

But come to think of it I have never gone for a job or interview in the company she said now, so why will they call me when I did not even go there, the lady on the phone said she will send me the address, what if they are kidnappers or armed robbers. 'Shut up what did you have they want to steal from you' my subconscious said. It is true I will try and see what will happen.

Today is Monday, I have dropped my daughter at school and I already called my boss at the restaurant and give some excuse that I won't be able to come today, so inside a cab and show the address to the driver, soon he drops me in front of the company and it is wow, it is a tall building almost like 20-25 story building and when I step inside it is so nice, I stand there and looking at the building until someone taps me on my shoulder.

"Please how may I help you?" A lady said

"I am sorry, my name is Bella Williams and I get a call that I should submit my certificate today," I said feeling nervous

"Ok, take the elevator and go to the 30th floor and you will someone there, you talk to her," she said and I thank her

I get inside the elevator and press number 30 on the elevator button as she said and as I step out of the elevator I saw a lady in front of me sitting behind a desk.

"Hi, how may I help you?" she said politely

"Hi I am Bella Williams, I get a call on Saturday from your company here that I should submit my original certificate today to start work," I said

"Okay, please give me some minute," she said and pick up the phone and talk to someone

"Please come with me" I follow her

Soon we reach in front of an office door and written Nate Robinson CEO in front of the door and she knocks and we heard come in, she opens the door and told me to go in and the went back to his desk

"Hello," I said as soon as I see the person, I am sure he is CEO as written on the front door typing on his laptop and face down and I quickly look around the office and it is amazing.

"Please Bella sit down" The boss knows my name please God let me come out from here alive, I look up and the where the voice is coming from but he has not yet looked up, I sit down as he said and immediately he lookup

"How are you doing? Thanks for the other day" he is the baby father I help in the park the other day

"I am fine and no problem," I said looking confused as to how did he know that I am looking for work and how did he find my number?

"I am sure you will be surprised as to how I get your number, well the other day as you left, you forget one file and inside is your CV and I get to see your number in there and I see that you are looking for work," he said

"Oh, thanks" is the only word that comes out from my mouth

"You know what I can only offer you a job as a secretary as I don't have any vacancy that meets your credentials as stated in the CV as an Accounting graduate and it is only a secretary vacancy that is available as my secretary resigned last week and the lady you see outside is my PA so if you don't mind" As if I will mind at least I have a good job, that is ok by me

"Thank you, I don't mind sir" Sir is necessary at least he is now my boss

"Ok, but if you don't mind can I ask you a few questions and some personal questions?" he said

"Ok, sir no problem"

"Why did you let your first job and why don't you work since then till now that you are looking for a job because in your CV it stated that you have worked last like 4 years ago," he asked

"I left my job then because I am pregnant and after almost 2 years that I gave birth I decided to work again but no one wants to employ me because I have only 6 months experience of working before I gave birth and almost 2 years break" I reply him

"Ok I am sorry for that," he said

"No problem"

"Are you married?" he said looking at my hand maybe he is looking for a wedding ring

"No, I am a single mother, my Fiancé broke up with me," I said

"Oh, I am sorry" he collects the original certificate from me and looks at it

He told me about my salary and the time I must resume work and time to get off from work, He then presses the phone and talks to someone, soon the lady that brought me in step inside, he told her to show me my table and explain to me what I am going to do.
