Small Town Girl — Chapter 32

While they are attending to Bella, Doctor Sarah told me that she will be fine and she told me to follow one of the nurses to give my baby his first shower but I don't want to leave her alone but she forced me to go out.

After like 30 minutes, Doctor Sarah comes out and tells me that Bella is fine but she is sleeping now because she is tired and exhausted but it may take time before she gets discharged because her health deteriorates really bad and she needs a lot of medical care and rest.

I said okay and I am so grateful that she is fine, I don't think I can forgive myself if anything happens to her, Nate and Natalie are so happy hearing that.

After some minutes one of the nurses said we can go inside now that they have transferred her to the wardroom but the baby is not there yet but he is fine.

We went inside and I saw Bella sleeping peacefully, I will make sure nothing happens to you again and I will never hurt you. I love you, Bella, I said and kiss her forehead. It is true that when they say that it is when you lose something that you get to know their worth. I almost went crazy when she gave birth and her breathing changed all of a sudden and to make the matter worst they told me to go out.

Now we are inside her ward and she is still sleeping, I have called her friend Annie and she said she will come tomorrow.

The next day, I am still beside her and watching, yet she has not yet wake up, I am here since yesterday, when it is night time I told Nate and his wife to go home, if she wakes up I will call them. I called Mrs. Davis to bring some clothing for me and her, I also tell her to bring some food for her also. After she brought everything she said she wants to see my baby and I have also not seen him since yesterday, because I am worried about Bella that makes me forget to go and check him, both of us head straight to the babies ward and he is sleeping and I look at him, he is so cute and Mrs. Davis said he looks like me. After we see him I walk Mrs. Davis out and return to Bella but when I enter the room, she has wake up.

"I want water please" That is the first thing she said and I quickly give her water to drink.

"How are you feeling now? I asked her

"Fine," She said weakly

"I am so sorry for all that I have done for you, I don't know that you are going through all this, and yet I insulted you. I am sorry" I said to her and hug her

"It's fine, please can I see my baby?" She said

"Let me call Doctor Sarah first to check on you then I will bring your baby to you" I called Doctor Sarah on the phone and she said she is coming because I don’t want to leave her side.

"What name did you give to your baby?" She asked me

"Have not named him, I want you to give him names because you deserve it, I don't deserve it but I promise to make it up for the three of you" I said

"Thanks," She said

Soon Doctor Sarah comes inside and brings our baby with her, she gives him to me and checks on Bella, she asks her about how she feels and every other necessary question. After that I hand over her baby to her, she hugs him and I can see tears in her eyes, she says thank God that she is alive to see him.

BELLA P.O.V

Nick has been trying to be good to me, all that I did not experience with Jack, he is doing everything for me. When I wake up in the morning, he will prepare breakfast before I dress Mia up for school, he will put different types of food on my plate and make sure I finish it, after that he will make sure I take my medicine before he went to work and also take Mia with him to drop her to school. When he gets to work he calls me every time saying he just wants to check on me. He comes home early and he will pick Mia from school when he is coming. After finishing eating dinner he helps Mia with her homework. After that, he will play with her for some time and even put her to bed. After putting Mia to bed, he will come and sit with me in the living room and cut different types of fruit for me to eat.

We bake snack together in the kitchen and watch TV together while doing all that he tells me a lot of jokes that will make me laugh and said "That is how I want you to be always, no more sadness in your life again" every day he massage my leg and shoulder before I went to sleep.  I have seen him times without numbers that he always checks on me when I am sleeping and kisses me on my forehead and also kisses my baby bump but he thinks I am sleeping. He also talks to his baby quietly, the first time he comes to talk to him, he said "Hey boy, I am your dad I know I am a bad person to you, your mom and your sister, I am sorry I am not with you right from day one when your mom told me about you but I promise to be with you and your big sister for the rest of your life. I hope your mum will give me a chance to be with her forever, I promise to love her, cherish her, take care of her and be with her for the rest of her life" He kissed my belly then kissed my forehead and went out. Since then he comes every night like that. I am also thinking maybe I should give him a chance but I am confused.

I am now 9 months pregnant, for some days now, I am feeling headaches and nausea, Nick said I should go and see the doctor but I said no, I already know my problem but I did not tell anyone, I don't want them to pity me. All the people around me have already done so much for me. Nate and Natalie bought all my baby things for me, Annie sends money to me for my medicine.

When I am 6-7 months pregnant my doctor detect that I have preeclampsia and she said I have to stay in the hospital for good treatment but I don't have money so I tell her she should just prescribe medicine for me, I did not tell anyone because they have already done so much for me.

We are on our way to the hospital for a checkup but I am feeling dizzy and my stomach is hurting me so much, I endure till we get to the hospital but Nick is looking at me and he is asking what is happening to me but I said nothing.

When we get to Doctor Sarah's office, I feel dizzy and collapse. When I woke up, I saw doctor Sarah and she told me that she needs to induce me so that I can go into labor to give birth because my body is weak and I can take it anymore and I agree.

I saw Nick enter the labor room and I know that it is Doctor Sarah that let him. He holds my hand and I look at him with pain because I am in so much pain right now.

"Nick, I know I am not worthy to be your wife and we are not on the same level but please I beg you, please take care of my kids and tell them how much I love them, I already know that I can't make it but I am happy that I am able to carry him full term. Please don't think about this poor me, think about the kids, and take good care of them. Tell Nate, Natalie, and Annie that I really appreciate their effort and care for me, I am saying thanks to them" I said weakly

"Bella I know you are a strong woman, don't say that, you can do it and you will be the mother of your kids, nobody will take care of them very well except you. Please they need you and I also need you. I love you Bella" He said with tears and kisses me on my lips. I am so surprised about that but I did not say anything.

"I know you are strong and you are also a fighter, please fight for yourself and fight for your kids," He said

After pushing and screaming I hear my baby cry and I am so happy. Doctor Sarah handed him over to me and I gave him to Nick then everything went blur.
