Small Town Girl — Chapter 40

Bella P.O.V.

I am preparing breakfast for my kids as today is weekend and I also want to try new food recipes for Max, he is now seven months old and he did not want to eat any solid food, I give him fruits, yogurt, and all baby food but he refused, he wants only baby formula and breast milk. So I want to try fruit puree for him maybe he will like it.

After we finish eating, I clean up for them and now they are playing with their toys in the living room. I went to the kitchen to finish baking and also to clean up the kitchen, after I finish everything I went to sit with the kids in the living.

I heard a knock on the door but I am not expecting anybody, who could that be? I went to open it and I saw the last person I am expecting. Nick was standing at the door and we are looking at each other until I heard Mia asking me who is there, she comes closer and shouts "Uncle Nick".

"How are you my beautiful princess" He dropped what he is holding and carries Mia, showering kisses all over her face.

"I am fine, I miss you so much," Mia said laughing and I told him to come him

"I miss you too my princess" He carried her inside and went to greet Max while I pick up all that he dropped at the door and close it behind me.

He is talking and playing with them while he put both of them on his lap, when he saw me he put then down and moves closer to me.

"How are you doing Bella?" He moves closer to me and hugs me

"I am fine" Is the only word I said to him and I did not hug him back.

After he went back home two months ago, I keep my promise to be in contact with him and he can talk to the kids. He calls us every day or let me say every time because I can't count how many times he calls us a day, at night when he gets home, he facetime us and talk to the kids.

After some days have passed, he starts sending gifts to us and I told him not to send anything to us again but he begs me not to reject them. Sometimes he sends clothes, toys for the kids, and one day he sent a matching pyjama set for me, Mia and Max. I can't say I don’t like it because I love pyjama, I have wanted to buy something like this but I don't have enough money to buy it.

Since he sends different types of gift to us, sometimes if he is busy to call in the morning he will make sure he call before he went to sleep at night and he will be saying sorry that he is so busy that is why he did not have time to call us during the day. Why is he begging me because he did not call? It is not that we are in any relationship or something.

So when I saw him today, I was so surprised because I am not expecting him at all. After all, I know he will be busy with his flings who warm his bed at night.

"Are you jealous?" My subconscious said

"What did you want me to offer you?" I ask him while he is playing with the kids.

"Anything," He said and I went to the kitchen to prepare something for him.

After I prepare the food, we all eat and he asks me if he can take us out I told him he can take the kids out if he like but I don't want to go because I have something to do.

He did not say anything but I can see the sadness on his face. I get the kids ready and they all went out. I don't want to lead him on not to think I have given him another chance.

I am all alone at home, I use that opportunity to clean the entire house before they come back, after that I prepare dinner and watch some movies.

They come back a night after dinner time and I can see that they have a lot of fun because Max is already sleeping on Nick's shoulder and Mia is also feeling sleeping. I change for both of them and put them to bed.

"I am sorry for staying out late," Nick said when I come back after changing the kids.

"No problem, I can see that they have a lot of fun" I reply him "Did you want anything to eat to drink," I said to break the silence between us

"No, thanks. I will like to be on my way now but I am still here for a week and I will be coming every day to stay with the kids till I go back" Really

"Ok" is the only word that comes out of my mouth.

These past days that Nick has been with us were so nice, he came early morning at the exact time for me to wake up and he will make breakfast for us while I get Mia ready for school. I will leave Max for him and he will take care of him after he wakes up.

The last time he arrived from California is Saturday which is weekend and he asks me on Sunday to teach him how to take shower for Max and how to change his diapers. Since then he is the one taking care of them while I am at work.

I take Mia to school on my way to work and he is the one that will go and pick her up at school, he will stay with both of them till I come back from work.

"You are looking beautiful this morning," Nick said to me when I am about to go to work.

"Thanks" No man has ever complimented me like that and Nick has been saying a lot of sweet words to me since he arrived.

"When you are about to leave work, let me know we will come and pick you up to go out. Please, Bella, don't say no this time" He said with a pleading face "Since the day I came you refused to go out with us, please you can't say no at least make it a goodbye outing for me, you know I am going back tomorrow. Please" I wish to follow him because I have been refusing to follow him out since.

"I am sorry Nick, today I will be late at work because my boss said he wants to open a bakery shop because he tried my baking and he loves it so today I will so busy." I can see on his face that he is disappointed.

"Ok, no problem." He said sadly

"I hope it attracts more customer and make more profit because he promises me that if we make a lot of sales he will hire me as full-time in the bakery shop" I pack Mia lunchbox ad wear her shoe for her to get ready

"I believe in you Bella, your baking's are so delicious, surely you will make more sales. Don't look down on yourself" He moves closer to me and hug me "Everything will be fine, just believe in yourself"
