Small Town Girl — Chapter 26

6 months later

I am now heavily pregnant and now 7 months pregnant, I hardly do anything, I hardly cook now or do anything. I can't see my feet again, I just smile when I try to look at my feet. Annie always comes and checks on me and she stays like one week before she goes back. But this time around she is so busy. Nick comes to check on me once or twice in a month, sometimes I may not see him for like 2 months, my boss always calls me every day and his wife, they check on me every weekend.

I am on my way to the hospital for a checkup, when I am coming I will pick Mia up from school.

"How are you, my princess?" That is what the doctor calls me, she is in her fifties and she always talks to me and advises me when I come for a checkup.

"I am fine Sarah," She told me to call her name, not doctor or Mrs.

"Any complaints?" She asked

"No complain, just that he will not stop moving every time" My baby is a boy

"Just leave my boy let him kick in his mummy’s tummy," She said

She told me to lie down on the bed and pull up my blouse from my belly to check my baby, then she told me that there is not any problem, all I need is to continue my medicine and eat healthy food. She also talks to me about life because she knows about my situation. She is the one that attends to me when I use overdose medicine. Since then she always advises me and tells me about other people's experiences, she said if I see another person's situation it is bigger than my own, so in whatever situation I find myself I should give thanks to God. She prescribed medicine for me and she told me not to think of anything.

When I left the hospital, I went to the park and walk around a little to wait for the time I will go and pick Mia up, I walk around the park, play with some kids there and I went to a nearby shop to buy something to eat, after that I walk to Mia school to exercise more, it is not far from the park.

My phone rings and I check the call it is Natalie

"Hello Bee, where are you?" That is the nickname she is calling me for some time now.

"I am coming from the hospital for a checkup and I am on my way to pick Mia from school," I said

"Ok, we are coming to your place now, that is why I want to ask," She said

"Ok, just to pick Mia then I will be home in 20 minutes," I told her

She said ok, when I got to Mia school I went straight to her classroom, as soon as she saw me she came running toward me and hugged my leg “Hello my baby brother” she said and kiss my bump

"Hello my cupcake, were you a good girl to Aunty today?"

"Yes, mummy"

"That's my girl," I said to her and I talked to her Aunty about her performance in school and she told me she is doing great.

"Mummy" Mia called me

"Yes love"

"You said you will bake cupcakes for me if I am a good girl in school today," She said, I don't know that she will remember that since morning

"Yes baby girl, I have already baked your cupcake and it is at home but first when we get home, you will have to wash your hand, eat your lunch and do your homework, after all, that you will eat as many cupcakes as you want.

"Ok, thank you, I love you, mummy," She said

"I love you too dear" I bend a little and kiss her cheek

We took a cab and went home. When I got home I met Natalie and her husband down inside the car but I did not know that there was another person with them.

I went to open the door and Natalie is making fun of me because I am big.

"Hi Bee, how are you and my little peanut inside you?" She comes closer to me and hugs me after I open the door

"I am fine and your peanut is doing great inside me," I said

Later Nate enter and follow by Nick, I don't know he is with them because I did not see him

"How are you doing sis?" He comes closer to me and hugs me, he has been calling little sister or sis for a long time now, he said he sees me as his sister, not an employee

"I am fine brother, how are you doing and how is work? I asked him

"I am fine and work is good, Anna said I should greet you she also said I should tell you that she misses you so much" Anna is his Nate assistant

"Tell her I said thanks," I said

Nate carries Mia and I told him to drop her so that she can go and wash her hand and come and eat.

"Hi," Nick said

"Hi," I reply to him, I am sure Nate is the one that drags him here because I have not seen him for the past 3 months and I also don't need him.

It is when I see him that I remember him that he is my baby daddy, I did not remember him at all, because I don't want to go into depression, I have accepted my fate that I am a single mother to 2 kids.

"Where are you going, Bella?" Natalie asked me when she sees me standing up

"I want to go and prepare food for Mia and bring you guys something to eat or drink," I said

"Come and sit down let me help you," She said but I did not answer her. I walk straight to the kitchen and she joins me.

Thank God I bake some snacks in the morning when I am bored if not I don't have what to give them. I put Mia food inside her plate and Natalie said she will feed her, I told her that she can feed herself but she insists that she wants to feed her. I asked about her son Jason, she said he is spending some time with Nate's mom.

I serve them orange juice and cupcakes because that is what I have, it is better not to give them anything at all. Nate eats the cupcake, he said he loves my cake and also Natalie eats it, but Nick did not touch anything and Nate told him to eat it that he will love it but he just ok but later he eats it.

Nate told me that they have a reason for coming to my house and that is why they bring Nick along, I know it is Nate that drags him here.

"Bella, the reason why we come here today is that I want you to go and stay with Nick for the main time till you will give birth. I told you to come and stay with us but you said you don't want to disturb us at least you can stay with Nick, he is responsible for your pregnancy" Nate said

"I am fine here, I am good, I don't want to go anywhere," I said

"No Bella I have talked to him and he said ok, you are now in 7 months going to 8 months, you need someone beside you now, your due date is near, what if you go into labor who will you call?" Nate said

"I will call you or Natalie, or I can call the ambulance," I said but I don't want to go to Nick's house

"No Bella, that is final. You will follow Nick, just for the main time you give birth, after that you can come back to your place, please you need someone beside you now" Natalie said

I don't have any option now, but I don't want to go to Nick's house. I can't believe he agreed, I think I'm like a piece of shit in front of him, why would he agree with them for me to stay in his place.

After all our conversation, they left not before Nick told me that I should get prepared that he will come and pick me by the weekend, I should be ready by then.
