Small Town Girl — Chapter 18

Today I am so tired of running around because of the company anniversary, I am grateful that Annie is helping to pick up Mia from school every day and she also cooks.

When we finish eating, I went straight to take shower and sleep, the next day I did not go to work, I first went to the restaurant we want to order food from and make sure everything is good, from there I went to see the company for the decoration of the hall, I already talk to them and they gave me an appointment to come so we can discuss. By the time I finish all those things it is already 3 pm, I went to the company I met Anna in front of the company about to enter and she said she is so tired and she suggests that we should treat ourselves to at least a cup of coffee and cake before we start paperwork in the company.

When we get inside Mr. Nate is coming out of his office and he told Anna to follow him that they have a meeting to attend to.

After some hours of working, I decided to stretch my muscles a little bit and walk around, soon the elevator door open and comes out the last person I never want to see.

"Hello Bella, how are you?" Nick said

"I am fine but my boss is not around now, maybe you should call him or come back later" Nick sit down on the chair in front of my desk

"Please sit down I want to talk to you" I sit down not to be rude because we inside the company and I don't want to cause trouble

"What is it that you want to say?" I said looking at him

"Bella I want us to be friends, please give me your number," he said

"I am sorry I don't want any friend at this moment," I said

I see that all that he is saying does not make any sense so, I press my phone under the table and I set it to my ringtone as if I have a call I pick it and pretend to talk to someone.

"Please if you excuse me, my attention is needed outside," I said to him and he stands up and went away

Bella I want to be your friend, please give me your number, just like that he must be joking, I don't know what he wants from me.

After my day at work, I went home and take a shower then I talk to Annie, she said she will go back very soon and I told her to please go back after our company anniversary because I don't have any place for Mia to stay till I finish and she agreed, I hug her and said thanks to her

One month later

I, Annie, and Mia went shopping because tomorrow is our company anniversary and Annie told me that she wants me to dress nicely.

We went to so many shops just because I want to buy clothes and shoes to wear tomorrow, she said she wants me to look nice later when we bought all the things we want, we take Mia to the park and play then went home to make dinner then sleep.

Anna and I arrive very early before the party started to get everything in order to confirm that there is no mistake.

The party gets started and all the guests are arriving, soon I saw Natalie and we greet each other, later I saw Nick coming to where I was.

"Bella you are looking beautiful" He compliments me

"Thanks," I said and walk away

Everything is going smoothly but Nick's eyes never leave me, the MC called my boss and told him to give a speech, he went on the stage and thanks everyone.

After like 30 minutes of talking, the guest gives him a round of applause and he comes down from the stage, everybody enjoys the part, when I check the time it is already late and I tell my boos that I want to be on my way and he said ok, he thank me and Anna for the great job we do for the party to went well.

I walk out to call a cab, when I look to my right something caught my attention like two building away from the party, a car and the driver door is open all the light of the car is on and I went to look at what is happening but to my surprise, I saw Nick putting his head on the steering wheel and he is drunk, I called my boss and his wife on the phone to know what happens to his friend but he did not pick up his phone, I want to run back to the party venue to call my boss as I take two steps forward he falls down to the floor but to my surprise, he is still sleeping, I decided to leave a message for my boss and leave him there but my mind said I should not leave him, what if somebody takes advantages of his drunk state and robs his money and car. When you know you are not a heavy drinker why did you drink so much, idiot?

I called his name but he did not answer me, what am I going to do and nobody is passing to call for help, I have a bottle of water in my bag then I take it out and spray it on his face and he opens his eye and I also give him to drink, I ask him about his address and he told me then I call a cab to take him home, I close the door of his car, I hope it will safe till tomorrow, but the cab driver told me that I can't just leave him like that, is either I follow him and drop him off or he will not take him. I don't know what to do, I call my boss and his wife once again but nobody answers their phone. So I went with them and I call Annie and I told her where I am going.
