Small Town Girl — Chapter 28

I am now in Nick's place, he come and pick me today and he has gone out, he shows us to our room and told me that if I need anything to eat I should ask Mrs. Davis and if Mrs. Davis is not here I should go and check the fridge she has told her to prepare all that we need.

Mrs. Davis is so nice to me, she treats me like her daughter.

"Dear, did you want to eat now? I have prepared the food, you need to eat because of the baby in your tummy" She comes to my room and asks me to come and eat

"Ok, I will come now," I said to her, she takes Mia with her and feeds her

After we finished eating, she cut fruits for me and told me to eat little by little and she took me to the living room to sit down. When we get to the living room, I remember that horrible night that I am trying to forget.

"How are you feeling?" She asked me

"I am fine" I said

"Don't be shy to talk to me, Nick told me everything that happens between the two of you, as you can see Nick is a good person. He may be a playboy, cold and arrogant but his heart is pure and good. Give him some time, he will surely come around" Good person my foot

"I don't need him to come around, I am just here till I give birth then I will go back to my place, he has already made it clear to me that I don't worth to be his wife or girlfriend and he doesn't need the baby, so why will I need him to come around? I said

"Don't think like that if he did not need you or the baby, he will not let you stay here in his place" She said

After we talked a lot more, I went inside to have a nap and also Mia, when we wake up Mrs. Davis said she is going home, she told me that she has prepared dinner for the three of us and I said thanks to her and she left.

I stay inside the room with Mia because I don't want any situation where Nick will insult me or anything, I let Mia watch the cartoon on my tab and I chat with Annie after we end our chatting. I play games on my phone.

When it is dinner time, Mia told me that she is hungry and I made my way to the kitchen and set the table for her, after she finished eating, I changed into her pajamas and went to sleep. Later I went to the kitchen to eat the fruits that Mrs. Davis prepared for me before she left.

While I am eating my fruit, Nick enters and he greets me then walks to his room, after 20 minutes, he comes out with just sweatpants and a shirt.

"Did you want to eat now, Mrs. Davis prepare dinner before she left" I asked him

"No thanks, I will do it by myself" He said

I left him and continued eating my fruit, when he finished he said that I should come to the living room that he wanted to talk to me and I nodded my head, I stand up and went to the kitchen to wash the plate I use, then I go and meet him in the living room.

"I am here, I hope there is no problem?" I said while trying to sit down

"I just want to explain some things to you while you will be staying in this house," He said

"What is it? I asked him

"You know you are just here for some time till you give birth, after that you will leave my house, first of all, we are not friends or anything. You are not allowed to ask or interfere in my private life. I want you to know your place in this house. You can do whatever you like and go wherever you want, no problem I don't care. You are only allowed to enter, your room, the kitchen, the bathroom, and this living room, any place apart from that, don't go there. That is all for now" So there is still more rules

"No problem thanks for allowing me to stay here, I will surely abide by your rules. Is there anything else?" I asked him

"Nothing"

"Ok then, good night" I stand up and walk to my room

When I get to my room, I sit down on the sofa in the room and think about everything, I wish all this trouble would end one day. Maybe after I give birth I should go to Nigeria and visit my parents. I have told them about what I am going through, my mum cries so hard and asks me why I did not tell them since all these years. I say everything to them when I am pregnant with Nick's baby and my dad said I should believe in God that everything will be alright soon.

One week has passed and I am living my life, I did not go beyond my boundaries, we did not talk to each other except for greeting and nothing more nothing less. I am coming from Mia school and I saw Mrs. Davis inside the house cleaning.

"Good morning dear, where are you coming from?" She asked me

"I am coming from Mia school, I went to drop her at school," I said going to the kitchen to drink water

"Why can't Nick help you to drop her at school when he is leaving for work in the morning?"

"No problem, I am fine with it I also use it as an exercise, thank you"

I went inside the room and sleep for some time, after sleeping I come back to the kitchen and I saw Mrs. Davis cooking

"How can I help you?" I asked her

"My dear you don't need to help me, I am fine all you have to do for me is to sit down there and keep my company in the kitchen," She said

"Please let me help you because of us you are making more food than what you supposed to make," I said

"No my dear, I see you as my daughter, if my daughter is pregnant at least I will cook for her also, please don't say that" I listen to her and went to sit down on the chair in the kitchen and we talk about a lot of things.

I go and pick Mia from school when it is time to pick her from school and Mrs. Davis feeds her. I help her with her homework and she watches cartoons on the tab inside my room. We did not sit outside unless Mrs. Davis is around, Mia and I mostly sit inside our room because I don't want to make Nick angry, when it is time for bed she said she likes to take a shower after I take shower for her, I put her to bed.

When it is around 11-12 in the night, I did not feel like sleeping so I decided to go to the kitchen and make some baking because that is what I do most when I do not feel like sleeping. I don't know whether Nick has come back or not.

While I am baking, I see that someone opens the door and I know that it is Nick, thank God I have finish baking and I am washing the things that I use then I will go to my room, when I look back I see that she brought in a woman and they are making out by the door but I think they did not notice me, I decided to ignore them. Later I hear footsteps coming toward me since my back is facing them.

"What are you doing here?" Nick asked me

"Nothing I just finish eating and I am washing the plate that I use" I lied to him

"Nick, who is this?" The woman he brought asked him

"She is nobody to me, she is just a friend sister," He said

"Then why is she in your place?" The lady asked

"She is staying with her brother and her brother has traveled for a business meeting that is why she is staying here till her brother comes back" They are doing questions and answers between themselves.

"I can see she is pregnant, why can't she stay with her husband or boyfriend?"

"I don't know about that, please let go inside," He said and they walk away.

NICK P.O.V

Since when I told Bella about what I want, I barely see her and her daughter around, when I am going to work, is either her daughter is eating breakfast getting ready for school or she is already out taking her daughter to school.

When I am at works, one of my girls called me that can we meet tonight and I told her ok, when we meet she said we should go to the club after that we can go to the hotel, but I decided to take her to my house to show Bella that I am not really interested in her, but I did not expect to meet her in the kitchen by this time, I thought I will walk out with my girl in front of her in the morning, when I open the door, we are making out by the door that I did not notice that Bella is in the kitchen, when we released ourselves from the kiss to go inside the bedroom that it is when I saw her back facing here. I walk up to her and ask her what is she doing in the kitchen at this time of the night? She said she is washing the dish she uses. The girl asks me who she is but I don't know what to say, I said she is nobody to me, but I feel somehow hurt when I said that, I don't know why.

The next day when I get ready for work, I met Bella feeding her daughter and getting ready, but I felt bad to step out in front of her.

Why am I feeling guilty to step out in front of her? It is not that I cheated on her.
