Small Town Girl — Chapter 30

How do I explain to her that I want to be with her, I really messed up. I don't know how to convince her that I want to be with her not to take the baby away from her. I know I really messed up but I will try to apologize and make it up to her.

The next day I greet her and she answers me and I sit down with them to have breakfast. After breakfast, I offer to drop her daughter to school but she declines.

One week after, I am still trying my best with her but she did not look at my side at all, we eat breakfast and together every day, I make sure I come back from work early to have dinner with them and I also play with Mia before she went to bed. Every day I come back from work Mia always runs to me and greets me and I feel so happy about it.

Today is her doctor's appointment and I told her that I want to follow her for the checkup, at first she said no but after all my pleading and begging she later agreed. I did not go to work because I don't want to miss the time but to my surprise, she gave the address of the hospital and told me that we will meet there. She is making it hard for me. Did I hurt her to this extent that she did not even look at my effort since all these days?

"Bella, I know I have been nothing but a jerk to you and I am so sorry about that, I just want to make things right this time. I want to be there for you and your kids, not only my baby but for Mia also" I said telling her to sit down

"The last time I check, you said I am a gold digger and a bitch who want to use a baby to extort money from you" She said

"I know, that is why I said I am sorry. I think you are like the other girls who tell me that they are pregnant and they need money when I did not even have sex with them without a condom, and later they told me that the condom break so they are pregnant and they are not ready to be a mother and I give them money since I am also not ready to be a father. I am so sorry to say this Bella but you are the first girl I ever had sex with without a condom. I am sorry I know that I did not have any good reason or excuse to treat you badly, I am sorry please forgive me" I said

"Please Nick don't make this hard for yourself because you said I am not worthy enough to be your girlfriend or wife, since then I have accepted my fate. Now I only have kids and they are my strength and my joy, please don't take him away from me" She said putting her hand together and wants to kneel down to beg me, I quickly stand up and grab her to sit down and told her not to kneel down for me

"Please Bella I am not thinking of taking the baby away from you or will have ever think of such, I just want us to start from the beginning to see where it will lead us to even if we are not together I will never take the baby away from you but please I want to beg you in advance if we were not together, I want you to allow me to be in their life, I mean both of them including Mia," I said but she did not say anything, she stands up, take her bag and went straight outside I quickly follow her.

When she gets out she enters inside my car and I drive off happily. At least she is beside me now.

I am so happy just imagine the kids running around the house, I may not be perfect but I will be the best father to them, I am sure Bella does not want to be with me. I have hurt her a lot and I accept my mistake but I will try my best to win her heart. I will do my best and treat her nicely from now on.

We are now inside the doctor's office, she greets her and also greets me and I reply, the doctor asks her about how she is feeling and every other thing about her health. Soon she told her to lie down on the bed and I asked her if I can stay beside her and she said yes. I am so happy that she said yes. She lies down on the bed and raises her blouse up to her belly as the doctor said, wow her belly is so big and later I hear the sound of the baby heartbeat and the doctor asks me how did I fell about hearing the heartbeat and I could not find any right word to describe the way I feel, I just sit there and tears fall from my eyes. The doctor smiled and patted my back, after we finished, she prescribed some medicine for her then she told Bella to excuse us that she wants to talk to me. Bella said ok that she will use that opportunity to go and get the medicine, I gave her my credit card to pay for the medicine she will buy but she did not collect it and walk out.

"How are you, Nick?" She said

"I am fine Doctor….."

"Doctor Sarah, you can call me Sarah," She said and I nod my head

"Ok"

"I can see that since the time that both of you get here, you are looking at her and I can see that you are trying to make up for what you have done to her" Maybe Bella explain to her because I can see that they are friendly to each other

"Yes, Doctor I mean Sarah, I know I hurt her a lot but now I want to be there for her, but she is avoiding me and she thinks that I only want to be with her for the baby and take the baby away from her" I told her sadly

"I can see that she explain everything to me, did you really like her to be with her or you just want to be in your baby's life?" She asked

"Yes, I really like her and want to be with her and her kids, not only my baby but with her daughter also," I said sincerely I know that I am a jerk to her but I will do anything to gain her trust and be with her.

"Then you have to be patient with her because you know what she has passed through a lot before with her ex-fiancé and baby daddy before you too insult her and call her all sort of names, you don't expect her to open up to you like that," She said

"Yes, I understand but I will try all my possible best to be in her life and my kid's life" I repeat all that I have said again because I really mean it

"As you can see her, she is a strong girl, despite the health issues she never let that keep her down, she is fighting for her kids and please don hurt her more, what she needs is somebody to make her happy, if you like her the way you claim try your possible best to cherish her and respect her, try your best to make her happy not hurt her more," Sarah said

She also advised me on what to do and said I should make sure not to break her heart again. I said thanks to her and went to meet Bella in the car. When we are driving home I decided to go to the mall to get some things for my baby.

"Where are you going?" She asked

"I want us to do some shopping for our baby," I said smiling but she frowns her face

"No thanks, I already get what he will need," She said

"Please Bella give me a chance to make it up to you, at least you can see that I am trying all my possible for you to make it up to you and to rectify my mistake," I said

"Nick please don't disturb yourself but if you decided to buy anything then he will use all that you bought for him in your house but when I am leaving I will not take anything with me" She did not even try to smile at all

I decided to leave her not to pester her too much, Doctor Sarah said I will have to be patient with her and that is what I will do.

BELLA P.O.V.

I can believe that Nick is saying he wants to be with me, after all, that he said about me calling me a lot of names now he said he has realized his mistake and he wants to make it up with me. Today he said he wants to follow me for the doctor's appointment and agree but not immediately after his begging and pleading when we get to the doctor office and the doctor wants to check my baby and she said I should roll up my blouse, he said can he stay and I said ok.

But I can believe that the mighty Nick Scott can shed tears because he hears the heartbeat of his baby, I look at him as if he is not the same Nick that I know. After we finished Doctor Sarah said I should excuse them that she wants to talk to him but before I walk out he gave me his credit card to pay for the medicine and I said no.

After some minute he comes out and said he wants us to go to the mall to do some shopping for our baby, he said our baby, the baby he said he doesn't want that I should abort, the baby he said he is not ready to be a father for, now the baby is his baby, our baby. Unbelievable.
