Small Town Girl — Chapter 23

When I open Nick's office door, what I saw is really bad. I saw him, pants down halfway in his leg and a lady on his desk having sex in the office. That is the father of my baby, now I can see that he is really a playboy.

When I get down to the reception, the receptionist came to me and said that Nick said I should come back. I said ok and I went back, I don't have any other option. I meet the lady inside the elevator and she looks at me somehow but I don't care.

I knock on his door and make sure I hear come in before I enter when I enter his office he told me to sit down.

"Hi, Bella," He said

"Hi" Everything seems awkward to me

"Bella I want to say sorry for what happen that night, I don't mean to hurt, I am sorry," He said but I need not see any sincerity in his eye.

"No problem, it is because of that night that made me come here today" No need to beat around the bush.

"What happens?" He said

"I am 4 weeks pregnant," I said

"What!!!!!!" he said and stands up suddenly

"Yes, I am pregnant"

"I am sorry Bella but I am not ready to be a father now, even if am ready, you are not the one" What he said brought tears to my eyes but I raised my head not to let the tears fall.

"I know I am not worthy of you but I just want you to know about the baby" After I said that he said 'if you know that' silently but I heard him

"You have to abort the pregnancy," He said and open his drawer and bring out a lot of money

"Before I come here to tell you, I have already gone to the doctor and she said I can't abort this pregnancy because it is complicated and I have some health issues," I told him

"I am sorry but you have to abort this pregnancy I don't need the baby, I will refer to you the best doctor here in California," He said

"I can't abort it, if I try to abort the doctor I will lose my life or have a womb damaged, please I just want you to help me financially with this baby, nothing else. Please" I put my dignity and ego aside for the sake of my baby, if it is not about my financial problem I will not come to you.

"You know what I have heard a lot of things like this before, you want to use the baby as an excuse to get a lot of money from me, I have seen a lot of gold digger bitches like you before, either you like it or not I don't want this baby, take this money and go and abort it" He put a stack of money on the table in front of me, I don't have a choice and pick it up, I need a lot of medicines to buy

"Thank you" The tears I am controlling fall freely in front of him after I said thank you.

I take the money and walk out of his office when I get inside the elevator I break down and cry my eyes out when the elevator is about to open I wipe my eyes. I take a cab and went to Mia's school to pick her up and then I went home. When it is dinner time I prepared food and we eat then I brush her teeth, change her clothes, and put her to bed to sleep.

I sit down in the living room thinking of what to do next. My phone ringing brought me out of my thought, I checked the caller ID and it is Natalie, I picked it up and she asks me what did Nick said and I told her everything and she told me to have the patience that everything will be alright.

After I hang-up the call with Natalie, Annie called me, I pick it up and explain everything that happens to her, she said I should not think about it too much that if I stop work, she will take our responsibility till I gave birth and I start to work again, when she said that I smile and said thanks to her, but one day she will be tired of us and voice out that she can't do it anymore, I don't want to depend on anyone.

"Nick said even if he is ready to settle down, not me, meaning I am not worthy to be his wife or baby mother, I think he is right that is why Jack also left me," I said crying

"Bella, you are a good wife and good mother, since the time I know you, you always make others comfortable, you are a good mother you prefer to starve yourself that making your daughter hungry, despite that you don't have, you make everything comfortable for Mia, I am sure she will be proud to have you as her mother, Nick and Jack are the unlucky idiot that is blind that did not know your worth," Annie said

"Really, then why is my life turn out like this? Being a single mother is not easy, now a single mother of two kids and to make the matter worse, single mother of two kids from two different fathers, what do you think people will say? People will say I am a whore, prostitute and all sort of names even Nick said she knows a lot of bitches like me, what else"

"Please don't think about what people say, just focus on yourself and your kids," Annie said

"Annie, thanks for taking care of me and my daughter right from day one, we are not your family member, still yet you stand by me, we are from different family background still yet you stand by me, I want to ask you one last favor after this I promise you that I won't ask for anything from you again, please no matter what happens to me, please help me to care of Mia and tell her how strong her mother is, tell her that I try all my possible best to take care of her but I failed in so many ways. Tell her about her father in a good way, I don't want her to hate her father at all. Also, tell her that being poor is not good she should work very hard to make a name for herself in society." I said looking at the bottle of medicine in front of me

"Bella, please don't do anything stupid, you are the one that we take care of your kids by yourself and tell them stories about their father, please don't think about anything, I am happy that you believe in God, you are the one that always tells me that no matter how hard or the tough time someone goes through, it shall come to past one day. You also said if you believe in God and you believe in yourself, you shall overcome all the trouble. Please, Bella, don't be stupid, I am coming right now, I am taking the next available flight to California, please let's talk about this" She said

Thanks for everything, I said to her and hang up the call, I went inside and pick Mia up hug her for some seconds, and kissed her cheeks. "Mia mummy will always love you, you will always be in my heart." I put her back to bed and went to the living room and pick up the medicine bottle on the table.
