Small Town Girl — Chapter 38

The next day, the lady comes to me and she gave me some agent number and I called them, later I get an affordable apartment, it is an old building but it is still nice, it is a two-bedroom apartment with a small living and a toilet I can manage it with my kids.

I still have the money Annie borrowed me and get some things for the house. After I get settled, I called the number she gave me for work and the boss told me to come for an interview the next day. After the interview the boss which his name is Mr. Damien told me that I can start work next week because Annie told me that I just relocate to Florida I still need to settle down. I said thanks to him for considering me and he told me to behave like a good person and not disappoint my friend that stands for me.

The week that followed I start working, I have enrolled Mia in school and I have someone to come and sit with Max till the time I get off work.

I work with Mr. Damien as a secretary and one week after I start working as a secretary, I find work in a restaurant as a cleaner, it is night shift. I am so happy because it is the money I receive from the restaurant and the salary I will get will help with all our expenses.

It has been one month now that I left Nick's place but Mia always disturbs me about Nick, I told her that he has traveled and he will come back very soon but whenever she comes back from school, she always ask me when is Nick coming back.

The way he takes care of Mia helping her with her homework, sometimes he feeds her, plays with her around the house, and also puts her to bed at night. All this is enough for Mia to remember him. Sometimes I also remember him, because he always treats me nice, promising me that he will try his best for us to be together as a happy family.

In what Annie told me she said that Nick is looking for us and Nate also called me because Annie has given them my new number, he said Nick is not like before even he fights with his parent because of me. They told me that sometimes he sleeps inside his office he said that the house is empty without us. If he comes back and asks for my forgiveness I don't know what to do.

One day when I get home, my neighbor that help me with the kids told me that a man come and ask for me and I ask for his name but she said he did not mention his name. I said ok and she left.

I am preparing food for me and Mia to eat, Max is already sleeping. After some minutes I heard a knock on the door and went to open the door only to find Nick but I close the door immediately.

He bangs on the door telling me to open it, I told him to go away but he said I should give him a chance to explain what happens to me, everything I heard is a misunderstanding.

I later let him in and Mia run to him and he carries her and said he missed her, Mia asked him that has he come back to take us to go home and he said yes. I put food for Mia and told her to eat inside that I want to talk to him.

After all his explanation, he said I should forgive him and to let us go back home because the house is empty without us, I told him to get out and not come back again.

After he went out, I went to sleep thinking about him all night, the next day I get dressed for Mia and the lady that will stay with Max come on time but said something that makes me crazy, she said someone is sitting on my doorstep. I open the door to find Nick sitting on the floor like a lost kid.

"Nick, don't tell me that you passed the night here" Mia saw him sitting on the floor but he stands up immediately Mia saw him but what my daughter said shocked me.

"Mama naughty" Mia said

"Why are you doing this Nick? I told you to go back" I said to him

"I won't go back without the three of you, if I have to sleep here for months or years till you forgive me and go back with me, then no problem," He said

I went back inside and take Mia to school and my take handbag then leave because if I keep talking to him, I will be late. He followed me to Mia's school then to my work, after I get off work heading to the restaurant he also follows me, he entered the restaurant and order some things to drink till I get off and he also follows me home.

He continues like that for a week and it is getting on my nerves, when I get home that day I called him inside and ask him what he wants but he said he wants us to be back home. Mia saw him and come to him, they are both playing together and she gave him her book and he helps her with her homework, later Mia falls asleep and I show him her room.

I told him that he should go back but he said no that he will be saying in front of my door till I agree to follow him back, I even wondered maybe he did not have other words to say because that is what he keeps repeating all the time.

When he comes back from Mia's room and about to go outside, I call him back.

"Nick, please go back home, you have your business there that is waiting for you and your parent will be worried about you," I said looking at him

"I have a very competent assistant that will take care of everything till I come back and my parent said they did not want to have anything with me again. So I am free" He said

"Please Nick I am fine with my kids here, how am I sure that if I go back with you there won't be another problem?" He stands up from his seat and sits beside me holding my hand

"Bella, give me another chance to prove myself to you, I promise you to protect and take care of you and the kids. If you see that I keep hurting you, you can move out and I will not stop you at all" He said still holding my hand

I really don't know what to say but I told him to sleep on the couch in the living room because I don't like how he sleeps outside, I went inside my room and bring him a cover, after that, I made my way to my room and not give him reply to what he said.

I really have some feeling for him but I am scared because of what Jack has done to me, he also starts like this but later everything turns upside down.

Should I forgive him or not?
