Small Town Girl — Chapter 11

2 years later

I am working as a waiter because I did not get a job in any good company despite being a graduate because they said after graduating I did not work more than 6 months and I have 1 year and almost 6 months break and that is when I gave birth to my daughter, all the company I went for interview are saying the same thing that I did not have more working experience even I went back to the company I work for before I gave birth because my boss said if I want to work again I can come back but the company has merged to another company and even my former boss is not there anymore

I am still living with Jack but we are like a cat and mouse in the house but whenever he wants to start any fight or argument I did not reply to him if my daughter is around I don't want her to have a bad memory of us.

I prepare food for dinner or Mia and prepare her to sleep but I did not see Jack anywhere when Mia sleep I go back to the kitchen and prepare her lunch box for the next day and all the necessary things I suppose to do and went to sleep beside my daughter.

The next day I prepare breakfast, after finish preparing breakfast I wake Mia up and dress up for her to school and I also get dress up for work but I check in Jack's room that breakfast is ready but he is not there, where did he go early in the morning or he did not come home at all, I don't know.

I am at work and my phone rings I quickly pick it up because it is Jack's Mom and she said when I will get home because she wants to talk to me and it is not the matter to talk on the phone, so I tell the time I will get home and hang up. I went to pick up my daughter and head home because I am nervous right now I don't know what Jack's mom wants to tell me because she has never called me like that before.

As soon as I get home I prepare food for Mia but I still can't see Jack at home because the house is the way I left it this morning because if Jack was here it will be so messy.

"Hi Mum" I greet her as soon as she enters

"Hi, how are you doing?” she said but to my surprise, she is not the only one, Jack's father and his sisters are also here

"Hi dad" I greet him and also greet his sister but I am more nervous right now, is something happen to Jack or I don't know

"Where is Mia?" one of his sisters ask me

"She is inside the room watching the cartoon," I said and they all seat on the couch "please did you like anything to drink or eat," I asked

"No no we are fine," Jack's mom said and look around as if she is telling them to agree with her and they all say the same that they don't want anything

"Bella we are here to talk to you and we won't want you to take this serious" Jack's father said

"Please hope there is no problem and where is Jack because I have not seen him since yesterday? I said

"Bella Jack has left the country and he also said he has broken up with you" one of the said

"Wait, did he told you to tell me that he has broken up with me? I don't understand," I asked

"No he said we should tell you that he is sorry that he break up with you and he left the country," his Mom said

"Why did he do that? Why can't he tell me himself? He is such a coward" I said and tears fell from my eyes, one of his sisters sit beside me and pat my back

"We are sorry and he also said we should tell you that he is sorry" I did not say anything I should sit there and cry

After some minutes they all left and they said if I need anything I should come to them and their door is always open to us. Should I be happy that I am free from this relationship with him? Or I should be angry that I am now a single mother? I don't know, I am glad that they did not take my daughter away from me.

6 months later

Today my daughter is 3 years old and we celebrating with Jack's family and my friend Annie is also here, we are celebrating in his parent house, for the past six months has been tough around no matter how bad he is, I really miss him having him but I have to move on, now am a single mother of one but not ready to mingle.

"Hey babe what is happening?"  Annie sit beside me

"Nothing it is just that seeing his parent makes me remember him," I said

"Just forget about him and start a new memory, both of you are not meant to be for each other," she said and hug me

I have rent another apartment because I can't afford the apartment I and Jack are living before, I rent a cheap one to able to have enough money left for other stuff, after Mia's birthday we spend some days with Annie before she travels back, we talk a lot because, since the time I gave birth when my daughter was three months that is the last time we saw each other, she even offer me to follow her where she is living maybe I can find a job there but I said no that I am fine, I don't want to be a burden on her if I am the only one it will be nice but I have a daughter, it is better to maintain our friendship like this.

After all the interview I went to they all reject saying the same thing, yes I am still going for an interview because working as a waiter is not an easy job, I decided to sit down in a park not far from my daughter school to receive fresh are and think what to do next. Thinking about my life from the beginning when I came to California to when I met Jack till today, a cry of a baby brought me out of my thought, I look in the direction where the baby is I saw a couple not far from where am sitting trying to calm their crying baby but all in vain, even the father of the baby is dancing on his kneel for the baby while holding some toys and the mother also is trying her best to calm the baby but the baby did not stop crying, I look away from them but the cry did not let me think of anything so I decide maybe I should help at least but what if they ignore me or they send me away.

"Hi, my name is Bella, can I try to help with your baby?" Both of them look at me but later the mother pass me the baby

"Hey boy, why are you crying? You know mum and dad love you, why are you crying" I said to the baby that is when I notice the baby is a boy

I first check his diapers and her mother said that she just change it then I put her on my should and start singing for him and pat his back am also dancing, I throw him up a little bit and still singing, after 10-15 minutes of my display he stops crying and I collect the food from his Mom's hand and feed him after feeding him I place him on my should and he burps and sleeps then I put him on the pram.

"Thank you so much, Miss Bella, I don't know what to say but to thank you," his mother said and hug me

"Thank you so much Miss Bella and we are sorry for the trouble," his father said

"Please call me Bella and I have a daughter like him so that is not trouble and please excuse me I have to go now" I check the time and it is time to pick Mia from school

"Please just manage this for the transport" The baby's father gave me money

"No please don't bother I can't take that from you please" I kiss the baby on the cheek and wave my hand to his parent

I am walking to my daughter's school, it is like 20 minutes' walk from here, so when I pick her up we will take a cab back home.
