Small Town Girl — Chapter 16

The next day after I make my morning prayer and I went to the bathroom to do all the necessary things then make breakfast after that I wake Mia up and take a shower for her then we eat breakfast and went out.

I get to work and I finished the work that I supposed to do, soon the elevator door is open I saw Nick coming out of the elevator.

"Hello," he said smiling.

"Hi" What makes him smiling now I don't know

"Bella, can I have your number?" I think I did not hear very well

"My phone number?" I asked again maybe I did not hear what he is saying

"Yes, your phone number," He said again

"I am sorry, I don't give my phone number to strangers," I said picking the intercom to call my boss that his friend is here

"I am not a stranger anymore, I am your boss friend and also Natalie friend and Natalie said you are his friend, so I am not a stranger, am your friend's friend and your boss friend," he said and I told him that my boss said he should come in

I stand up from my seat and walk to my boos front door to open the door for him but he said that if I don't give him my number he will get it by himself but I did not answer, soon Anna comes out from the boss office and she heard what he is saying

When I get to my desk my phone rings and I checked the caller ID ad it is Annie and I pick it up immediately

"Hey babe, how are you and how is my goddaughter?" she said happily

"We are fine and how are you" I am so happy that she called me, it has been a long time that we talk and if I call her it is always going to voicemail

"I have missed my goddaughter so much but I don't miss you," she said laughing

"She also misses you so much and I also miss you too," I said

"Really, wow I also miss you so much," she said

"It has been a long time and I am calling you but it is always going to voicemail, hope there is no problem," I asked her

"I am so sorry, I am so busy at work that I have to put all my calls on voicemail," she said

We talk a lot more and she said she is coming very soon but she did not tell me when, she said she wants to make it a surprise for me and Mia, soon we said our goodbye and hang-up, I am so grateful that we are on lunch break that I was able to talk to her very well.

I went to the company cafeteria and get something to eat, Anna also come and sit beside me and she said can she talk to me and I said yes.

"What was Nick our boss's friend talking to you about?" She said giving me a face like don’t lie to me

"Nothing she said I should give him my number and I said I did not give my number to strangers," I said

"Don't mind her Bella, he is one of the millionaire playboys here in California" She said looking serious

"I don't have anything to do with him, even he is not a playboy," I told her

We talk a lot more after we finish our lunch we went back to our desk. Nick comes out of the boos office and he put a piece of paper on my desk and walk away 'I like you and I want us to be friends, this is my number call me' that is what is written on the paper and he put his phone number there, I squeeze it and put it in the trash can beside my desk.

After my day at work, I went to pick Mia from school and we went home after dinner soon we went to bed.

Two months later

Today is Friday which is weekend, I am in the living room with Mia watching a cartoon and I am playing a game on my phone, I just finish cooking for next week.

Soon my phone ring and it is Annie, I pick up my phone and what she said surprised me.

"Please babe open the door for me" I stand up quickly and open the door and I hug her so tight that she taps me that she can't breathe and I said sorry and we hug ourselves normally after we released ourselves from the hug, she carries Mia and hug her and said I have missed you so much my cupcake and Mia also said she misses her.

We went to the living room and she said she is hungry and she wants to eat Nigerian food and I went to the kitchen and prepare her favorite Nigerian food that she like after I finish preparing I saw both of them sitting on the floor in the living room showing Mia the stuff she buys for her like toys, shoes and clothes and dress because she knows that Mia loves gown dress so much, she said she is the one that makes the dresses for her by herself and I ask for my own cloth that she made for me but she jokingly said that she does not have time for me.

Later we went to the dining table and eat, after that we gist a lot, she told me that she is preparing to relocate here in California and she talks about her boyfriend, work and all other things, I told her also about Nick my boss friend and how he is disturbing me for the past two months to the extent that even my boss has known about it and he told me that I should think about it very well that Nick is a playboy and he also said that maybe he has stopped being a playboy and have feelings for me because he has never seen him trying to woo the same woman for this long because he has a lot of women that pleased him every night. Annie told me I should just ignore him.

After our discussion, we get dressed and went out with Annie, she is the one that says we should go and have fun most especially she has missed her goddaughter, first she takes Mia to kid's cinema, then to the amusement park after we went to eat, she bought a lot of toys for her that I had to stop her from buying anything again, then we went to eat ice cream after that Mia is so tired that she is about to sleep then we go home.

When we get home she takes a shower for Mia and puts her to sleep.
