Small Town Girl — Chapter 13

Working as a secretary is a little bit stressful but is better than working as a waiter, my work is to type all the meeting report and receive incoming calls and some other things like that but if the PA is here, her name is Anna, she helps me to do some work, my first day of work is so hectic, there are some files that yet to be completed and meeting reports that have not yet type at all, I manage to do some of them that day. Now it has been 2 weeks that I am working there but the father of the baby I saw that day in the park is different from the man at work, his PA said when he is at work, he is so cold but outside of work, he is nice and cheerful, I think that is very good.

After three weeks of working here, I am now used to it and everything went smoothly, I am so happy that I have good work, I call my friend Annie and she is so happy to hear that. Now I can send money to my parent and have enough money left to buy things for my daughter and myself.

After a hectic day at work, I am playing with my phone because my boss and his PA have gone out for a meeting, soon I saw one lady coming out from the elevator and she stands in front of me.

"Hi Bella, how are you?" the lady said but I don’t know how she knows my name

"Hi Ma'am, I am fine, how may I help you?" I think I saw her before but I don't know where

"Don’t you remember me"

"I don't think so ………. You are the boss wife and also the lady in the park, I am so sorry" I apologize to her immediately.

"My name is Natalie, how are you doing? How is your daughter?" She said sitting down on the chair in front of me

"Thanks, we are both doing fine and how is your baby?" I asked

"He is fine, his name is Jason"

"That is a lovely name, Mr. Nate is not around now, maybe you will wait for him or …..." she cut me off before I finish my statement

"I am here for you Bella, I am glad you are working here because I want to invite you to my son's birthday next weekend and I want to bring your daughter also but before that, I want to invite you to come with me during this coming weekend for shopping you can bring your daughter also not as my husband secretary but as a friend" Inviting me as a friend maybe I did not hear very well

"Me???"

"Yes you or you don't want to follow or come to my son birthday," she asked me smiling

"No no no, not like that, I will come," She asked for my phone number and she also gives me her own phone number

"Ok then I will accept that as yes"

We talk a lot more, she asks about me and she also talks about herself, soon my boss arrives and she went to her husband's office.

Soon I get off work and went to my daughter's school to pick her up, we went home I make food for her and help with her homework then went to bed.

Today is Saturday that I will follow my boss wife shopping, my boss wife called me this morning at 10 am to get dressed, I get dress and now dressing up for my daughter because Natalie (my boss wife, told me to call her by her name not ma'am or Mrs. Robison) has called me again this morning at 11:30 am that she is on her way to pick me up, I tell her that I will meet her in the shopping mall that she should send the address to me but she said she will pick me up by herself.

"Good morning Aunty," my daughter said as soon as we gt inside her car

"Good morning my dear" she put her on her leg and kiss on her cheek

"Thanks for coming with me today" she is referring to me

"No problem," I said and play with her baby that is on his car seat beside me

She told the driver where we are going and soon he drives off, when we get to the mall she bought a lot of takeaway gift for the kids that will attend the party and she also asks for my advice on some things, we discuss the food, the design of the cake to make and all other kinds of stuff pertaining to the party. Sometimes I wonder that doesn't have any friends? that she chooses me to do all these things with her? But I keep my wonder and thought to myself. She mentions the design of the cake again and I told her I can help her with the cake because I can bake some snacks like cake any type of cakes, cookies, doughnuts, biscuit, pies, and some snacks also from my country like meat pie, puff puff, chin chin and all that, I learn everything from my Mom and I sometimes bake it for my daughter, sometimes for Jack's parent and Annie, my friend and they all love it.

"Are you sure you can bake a cake and design it also?" She asked surprised

"Yes but if you are not sure you can order from the confectionary store" she is looking at me and not say anything after some seconds she later talk

"Not like that, I am so sure, then no problem, then let us buy the ingredients that you will need before we go," she said

I just want to help her nothing else, so we agree on the design and bought all the necessary ingredients I will need and to my surprise, she bought a nice dress for my daughter to wear on that day and some other clothes and shoes for her, I try to deny it that I have money to buy clothes for her but she said she does not mean that I did not have money to buy things for her but she just wishes to buy some things for her.

After all the shopping we went to a restaurant to eat and I also play with her son and everything went smoothly

On Monday morning I went to work and my boss called me to his office and he thanks me for following his wife shopping and for the cake I want to make, he told me that if I need anything I should feel free to ask him or his wife and I said thanks to him for the kind gesture.
