Small Town Girl — Chapter 14

Today is party day and I have got to her house early in the morning to bake the cake and start the preparation of the party, I bake 2 different cakes for the party, one cake is a two-tier cake with a mickey mouse design and 12 cupcakes around it and the second one is also two-tier cake with cars design. After that I decided to bake some snacks for the kids and I made Nigerian chin chin (Nigeria snack) for the adult if they like it and they love it, their parent love the cake and everything I did for them and they also love the Nigerian snack I made for the adult they also thank me for that, even Natalie said later I will have to teach her some stuff and the Nigerian chin chin I make because she and her husband love it, she said I will also teach her how to back baby in Nigeria because her son is crying and he did not want anybody to carry him so I feed him and put her in my back later he fell asleep while we are preparing for the party.

The party started and I get dressed for my daughter to join the other kids in the garden and I help the maid to set the table and help to prepare some things some other stuff.

After I make sure everything is set, I walk inside to change my cloth and Natalie also insist, she said I should leave the remaining stuff for the maids, she said I can stay in one of the guest room.

The party has started and everything went well, the MC give the kids a lot of games and make sure that all the kids participate in the game, even my daughter win a prize from the game and she comes and show me in the corner am sitting. Natalie and my boss also come and meet me there and told me to stand up and have fun and mingle with a lot of people. But the people that are here are from the high class and am just an ordinary secretary, I don't want to forget about that.

When Natalie sees that I did not stand up from the same place, she comes and pull me up and introduce me to a lot of people and to my surprise she introduces me as her friend, not her husband secretary, her mother also explain how I back her grandson in my country way to some people there, I think maybe they are her friends and also told them that all the cakes that are here am the one that prepares it. There is one particular eye that is looking at me since the time Natalie is introducing me to some people, he stares at me wherever I go, and even if I catch his eye on me he did not look away.

"Hi," the guy said, he thinks that the stare is not enough

"Hello" I answered not to be rude

"My name is Nick" So, good for you

"Nice" I reply soon I saw Natalie pass by me and I follow her as if she needs my attention

Time for cutting the cake and they call the birthday boy and his parent, soon the grandparents and some other family members and friends, Natalie also call me to join, the last is all the kids together, after snapping pictures they cut the cake and shared it and all the people are saying it is nice, am relieved that I did not disappoint her. Toward the end of the party, some guests have left while some are leaving and some are preparing to leave, so I decided to get my daughter to leave also.

"Bella, meet my husband best friend and my friend also Nick and Nick meet my friend Bella," Natalie said but to my surprise it is the same guy that talks to me before

"Hi" is the only word I said

"Hi, my name is Nick and you are Bella" He repeats himself as if we have not met before

"Yeah" I don't know what to say again

"Nice to meet you," he said smiling

"Nice to meet you too," I said not smiling because I want to get out of here

"Where are you from? Soon Natalie leave us because someone calls her

"I am from Nigeria," I said looking around for my daughter so that we can go

"That is nice," he said

"Mama Mama" Mia is calling me and running toward me I grab her and carry her "Mama see I have a lot of gifts" she shows me the prize from the games earlier

"Is she your daughter?" he asked and to say the truth I have forgotten him I don't know that he still standing in from of me

"Yes" As I said yes his face changed but I don't care

"Mia say hi to Uncle" She do as I said and he also replies her

"Are you married?" He asked, please someone come to take this guy away from me

"No," I said

Soon I excuse myself from him and went to the guest room that I put my belongings and prepare to go. I went out and saw that guy what is his name, Nick talking to my boss and his wife, so I walk toward them and told them that am going. My boss and his wife thank me.

"Thank you for today Bella I am really grateful," Natalie said

"Thank you so much, Bella, I really appreciate all this"

"No problem, Jason is also like my daughter so there is no problem in doing that," I said and Nick is looking at me

We said our goodbyes and I left from there, even they said I should allow the driver to drop me but I decline and said I will be fine.

When we get home, Mia told me about everything that happens at the party and all the fun she has, she also said that she has made a lot of friends and she mention their names to me. I can see the happiness in her and I am so happy that she really enjoys the party.
