Lily Hates Me: A Love Story · Angela Lynn Carver
Chapter 52
Read online · About 6 minutesI ran out of the house but I didn't know where to go. Sarah's house? I was utterly confused as to why my dad was panicking so much. But at the same time, he didn't tell me to call the police. Was he really afraid of his father this much?
"Young lady, where are you going?" My supposed grandfather called out. He was standing in front of the front door looking at me while I tried to make a decision. Shit...I should've hopped in my car.
"Um...nowhere. Dad will be here any second so please just go back inside and wait for him," I said.
He stared at me intently. He must've noticed how nervous I was acting.
"What did he tell you?" he asked. His friendly eyes suddenly turning ice cold.
"Who?" I acted obliviously.
"Your father. I am guessing you spoke to him on the phone just now. What did he tell you about me?" he asked again.
"Nothing! He didn't say anything. Why, what's going on between you two?" I looked at him curiously. The mystery was killing me.
"It's a long story, Darlin. Let's just say your father and I never really saw eye to eye. But your aunt Molly on the other hand, was lovely. Such a good girl," he said and smiled as if to reliving his memory of her. The way he just mentioned her name made me feel slightly uncomfortable. I prayed dad gets here soon.
He moved closer to me. "You are scared of me. Don't be. Whatever Jacob told you, is not true. He always resented me. He was a difficult child," he said. He picked up a lock of my hair and ran his finger through it.
"STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM MY DAUGHTER!"
My heart jumped as I heard my father yell. Damn, he got here fast.
He stood in front of us with fire in his eyes. I've never seen him look so angry. My mom stood a few inches behind him. Her face was full of fear and worry. What is going on?
"Come over here, Summer. Get away from him," my dad held his hand out.
I didn't hesitate and quickly strode over to his side. I felt like a little girl who got caught talking to a stranger.
"Ah, Jacob. Look at how much you've grown!" the old man chirped.
"Why are you here? How did you get out of prison?" dad asked.
Oh, snap...did he say prison?
The old man chuckled. "It has been ages, my dear son. I've served my time. But is this any way to greet your father?" he asked.
"You are no father. You are an abusive fuck and a goddamn rapist. If you don't get off my property I will shoot you in the head," dad declared.
"Fine, be that way," the old man snarled. "I should've expected this from an asshole son like you. Maybe I will pay my sweet little daughter a visit. Maybe she will welcome me with open arms. It has been years and she had always been forgiving."
"You stay away from Molly or I swear to god I will kill you for real this time!" dad roared.
My mom wrapped her arms around his waist and tried to calm him down.
"Jacob, please. Don't get riled up. It's going to be fine," she whispered.
"I am leaving. Goodbye Summer. Hope you give your ole grandpa a chance," he smirked and left.
My mom tried to comfort dad as he was seething. He slowly started to calm down as she whispered something in his ears.
"Someone wants to tell me what the hell is going on?" I asked, finally breaking my silence.
We sat in the kitchen while mom tried to calm dad down.
"Shh...Jacob, it's okay, he is gone now," she was hugging him while he was bursting with anger.
"He wouldn't leave me alone. Even after all these years. He is gonna come after my family. That's how much he hates me Lily!" he said with frustration. I've never seen him like this. He had always been so strong.
"He can't hurt us. He is an old man now. We can take care of ourselves. Isn't that right, Summer?" she looked at me and smiled. I nodded.
"I love you," she whispered and kissed him. "We are not kids anymore so don't let him get to you."
They had told me about him. My so called grandpa. How he beat my bad, sexually assaulted my aunt Molly.
"Your mom saved me," dad had told me. "If it wasn't for Lily loving me despite all my faults and if her dad didn't help me cope after all that abuse, I would've ended up just like my father."
I had no idea dad had suffered so much. No wonder he used to be a bully!
"Molly, I need to check on her!" dad exclaimed. "He will go to her too, I'm sure of it."
"Let's all go," my mom suggested.
Aunt Molly lived about 5 miles away. She used to live in a different state but moved back home after my dad begged her too. She was all alone over there after she got a divorce.
Dad strode over to her house and rang the doorbell. We were right behind him.
After ringing several times she finally opened the door. She looked like she just got out of bed. Her hair and clothes were messed up.
"What is going on here? Why are you all here?" her eyes were wide.
"Dad's back!" my dad was almost panting. "I had to see if you were okay. I won't let him touch you again!"
"Awe Jacob, I'm fine. He didn't come here so you can go home in peace," she smiled and gave him a hug.
"Still, he might come and try something. I'm gonna stay here with you," dad declared.
"Oh don't be silly Jacob, you got your own family to take care of. I'll be fine. And now is not a good time for me to have a visitor so go on with your lives," aunt Molly reassured him.
Dad looked at her with suspicion. "Why is now not a good time for a visitor? What do you got going on in here? Are you trying to hide something, Molly?"
"I don't know what you are talking about," aunt Molly said. She looks like she is hiding something.
"Molly? Who is in there? Is it him? Is he already here? You can't seriously be protecting that asshole! He raped you and beat me!" dad cried out in anger.
"Stop it Jacob, I would never protect him. I hate how guts. It's not what you think," she said irritably.
"Then what is it!" dad roared. "I'm coming in," he declared.
"Jacob, I don't think that's a good idea..." mom tried to stop him but he barged right in.
My mom and I sighed and went in as aunt Molly gave us a nervous shrug.
"Who is in here? Come out now!" my dad yelled. He was honestly kind of scary.
Someone came out of the bedroom and I almost burst out laughing. His clothes were disheveled. Him and aunt Molly were clearly getting it on.
"RYAN?" my mom screamed.
