Lily Hates Me: A Love Story — Chapter 24

I waited for them at the theater parking lot. Valencia told me which movie they were going to watch and the showtime so I knew when it'll be over. I know, I know, I sound like a total stalker doing this but I didn't have a choice as Lily won't talk to me at school or on the phone.

The movie was finally over, and I saw people walking out of the theater. Pretty soon, I spotted Lily and Darren walking to their car so I strode toward them. I stood in front of the passenger door so Lily couldn't get in and be forced to look at me.

"You again, what its gonna take you to leave her alone?" Darren said, his eyes are cold and hard.

"I am not talking to you ass hat, I am here to see Lily," I replied.

"Stop it, Jacob, it's over between us," Lily said. Sadness enveloped her face like a blanket.

"I refuse to believe that, I admit I am not good enough to be with you, but I do know that I love you and I want to cherish you as my princess for as long as I live," I said and moved closer.

"You don't mean that," her voice broke as she said that, tears started to form at the corner of her eyes.

"Enough of this bullshit," Darren stepped in between us and stared into my eyes. "You were right when you said you aren't good enough for her. She deserves so much better than an animal like you," he scoffed and pushed me.

Rage fueled inside my body and I felt my body heat rising. This asshole was testing my limit and I didn't like that one bit. I balled up my fist but didn't raise it despite wanting to smash it against his face.

"Don't fucking touch me you asshole, or I will rip you apart," I said with gritted teeth.

"Oh yeah? Big threats huh? You are not gonna do shit. All you do is bark like a dog all the time. Lily is with me now so just deal with it," he said and pushed me again.

"That's not..." Lily started to say something but stopped when I grabbed Darren's collar and pushed him against the car door.

"Ooooh big boy is angry, you know what will make you angrier? Watching me take her from you completely. She will be mine no matter what you do, she belongs with me!" Darren said.

I couldn't control my anger anymore. I raised my hand and swung my fist, but I purposely missed his face and smashed my fist against the window breaking it in the process. Old me would've put that fist on his jaw, but I didn't want to do that. Lily saw some good in me and I wanted to prove her she was right. Breaking his jaw would confirm his claims about me. I could've walked away but I had to let my anger out somehow. I didn't even wince as the broken glass cut my knuckle and it started to bleed profusely. I just ignored it.

Lily had a terrified expression on her face. Her eyes were huge as she looked back and forth between me and Darren. I expected her to lash out and yell at me for breaking Darren's window.

"Jacob....your hand...it's bleeding!" she said in a choked out whisper. She came closer to me and took my hand on hers and frantically searched in her purse. She finally took some napkins out and pressed it on my knuckle.

"It's okay princess, I am okay. I am sorry I lashed out again," I said gently.

"Leave him, Lily, he doesn't deserve your kindness, he did that to himself. Let's go, I am taking you home," Darren said and tried to hold her hand, but she pushed his hand away.

"I am staying with him," she said quietly.

My insides flipped and I wanted to yell in victory but I stayed quiet.

Darren's mouth was open in shock. "What are you saying, Lily?"

"I am staying with him. You have no right to treat him like this!" she cried. "Can't you see he is hurt? And why are you saying these things about me? I don't belong with you, we have never been together like that!"

"I know...I just thought..." Darren started to say.

"You thought what? That you can expose Jacob as a monster to me and then win me over and we live happily ever after?" Lily said. "I don't believe you! I thought you were my friend. How could you instigate Jacob like this? He warned me about you but I never listened to him because I wanted to believe in you. We've been friends for so long I never imagined you'd ever hurt me."

"I am your friend!" Darren cried. "I care about you a lot and that's why I worked so hard to show you his true self. You have no business being with a guy like that. He is not good enough for you."

"Please leave, and don't talk to me until you apologize to Jacob," she said. I've never seen Lily act so cold towards anyone.

"Don't do this Lil," Darren said.

"Please...just leave us alone," Lily said again.

Darren looked at her with a hurt expression on his face then hopped in his car and drove off.

"Princess, I am sorry. I didn't mean to lose control like that. He just made me so angry," I said.

"Is it true what you said before?" she whispered.

"Is what true?" I asked.

"When you said you loved me? Do you mean it?" she said.

I smiled. "Of course I mean it. I Love you, I love you so much. You have no idea how much." I paused. "And I never would've raped you. I know it seemed like all I cared about was to have sex with you but that's farther from the truth. I will wait for you forever if I have to."

Lily threw her arms around me and gave me a long and lingering kiss. God, I missed her so much. I held her tight in my chest and inhaled the flowery scent of her hair.

"I love you too," she whispered.
