Lily Hates Me: A Love Story — Chapter 23

Lily ignored all of my texts and calls for the rest of the week. She ignored me at school when I tried to talk to her. I was absolutely miserable and it was all my fault. I couldn't believe how I acted towards her. I disrespected her and tried to degrade her.

Sure, in the beginning, my intentions toward her weren't pure, but it changed when I spent time with her. Now, I was madly in love with her.

I knew Darren had something to do with this. He must've slipped something in my drink so I couldn't think clearly. The drugs and alcohol combining with my underlying lust for Lily made me act like an animal and I'll never forgive myself for this. I wanted to grab Darren by his neck and shake him until he tells me the truth.

I tracked him down with the help of Marco. He lived 2 hours away so I drove down to his town and waited outside of his house. Finally, I saw him coming out of the house to check the mailbox so I quickly walked to him and grabbed his collar.

"What the fuck are you doing?" he said and glared at me.

"I need answers," I snarled at him. My face was already red with rage.

"I don't know what you are talking about," he said and pretended to be confused."Don't fuck with me Smith, you know exactly what I am talking about. You drugged my drink that night so I would act out." I stared deep into his eyes. But my death glare didn't falter his gaze and he stared back at me.

"You are not as thick-headed as I thought you were. Figured it out huh? Well in my defense, I didn't have to work too hard. All I did was to let your true nature come out. The animosity you showed Lily was the real you," he said.

"That's not true!" I yelled and tightened my grip on his collar. "I LOVE her! I would never intentionally hurt her like that. I would...I would never touch her unless she wanted me to."

"If that's true then why did you attack her? And don't blame it on me or the drug. You did it because you wanted her and you listened to your hormones rather than her pleas. You are a pathetic sex-crazed douche bag who can't keep it in his pants." he said.

"I've been friends with her for years and guess what? I wanted her too but I decided to be patient and caring. She knows this. And now that she saw the real you, she will finally agree to go out with me," he added and his lips twisted into a cruel smile.

I wanted to lash out and break every bone in his body but I kept my head under control. Hurting him would be satisfying but it'll make things ten times worse. I let go of him. He had a surprised look on his face.

"I am not going to do what you expect me to you little shit. And I won't let you have Lily. She is mine," I said quietly.

"She was never yours and now you lost her," he said.

"I am not gonna waste my time on you anymore, I will win her back even if it kills me and you or anyone else can not stop me," I said.

"We'll see about that," he responded.

I left the asshole and headed back to my house. I had to come up with a plan to make Lily stop hating me again. I had to do it soon as I was going crazy without her.

Throughout the week, I left her notes in the locker and waited for her at the table we used to sit on during lunch but she purposely didn't acknowledge me. It hurt a lot but I understood how she was feeling. She felt betrayed by me the other night so now I was paying the price for it.

I tried to reach out to Valencia to see if she would let me talk to her.

"Mr. Jacob...," she said as she opened the door.

"Val," I said quickly. "I need to speak to Lily. I want to make things right."

"What have you done to her? She won't tell me and she usually tells me everything," she said and squinted at me.

Lily never said anything about that night? I felt a glimmer of hope as it seemed like she still cared about me enough to protect me.

"We...we had a fight. I just want to apologize and get her back, I miss her so much," I said in a desperate tone.

"I can't help you with that. Lily has a soft heart and she barely gets angry at people. If she doesn't want to speak to you at all that means you hurt her a lot, so you need to be a man and fix it yourself." Valencia frowned as she said this.

"Well, can you at least tell me where she is so I can speak to her?" I asked. "Please Val, I love her," I whispered, and her gaze softened.

"Okay, she went to the movies with Mr. Darren. He said he was taking her to dinner afterward," she said.

My blood boiled. That asshole didn't waste any time and went for her. I swear I am going to kill him this time.

"Thanks, Val, I owe you," I said and gave her a quick hug.

I drove to the theater. I had to catch them before he took her to dinner and poison her mind with more bullshit lies about me. I knew it would probably be a waste of time trying to convince her but I had to try. I am going to get my princess back.
