Lily Hates Me: A Love Story · Angela Lynn Carver
Chapter 15
Read online · About 5 minutesI fucked up royally this time. She was finally warming up to me and I messed all of that up. And the most important thing is that I hurt her. Why did I have to be such a shit head all the time?
Lily ignored me for the rest of the week. I left her alone because I didn't want to make things worse, but I missed her. I have to fix this.
I caught up with Ryan during the lunch period.
"Hey buddy," I said.
Ryan flinched like I was about to punch him, but relaxed once he realized I wasn't doing anything.
"He..hey Jacob," he said.
"Look I'm not gonna do anything to you alright? I want to apologize." I said and looked down.
"Aa...apologize? Ttt...to me?" he looked shocked.
"Yes, I'm sorry for being so mean to you. I didn't mean any of it. It's just that...I'm so fucking miserable at home so I take it out on other people." I said and touched his shoulder.
"It's oo...okay. I'm not mad," Ryan said. "But Lily is," he added.
My heart twitched at the mention of her name. Regrets clouded my mind.
"Did she say anything about me?" I asked nervously.
"Ju...just that she is very mad at yyy...you and you are the ww..worst," Ryan said.
Well, I could've guessed that.
"She also ss..said," Ryan continued. "She misses you."
I felt a flutter in my stomach hearing that. My princess missed me. That means she didn't hate me and I have a chance to win her back.
I decided to go over to her house tonight.
I went to her house around 7 pm. There were several cars parked outside, which means there must be some sort of party going on. I rang the doorbell expecting Valencia but it was her dad who opened it.
"Hello Mr. Williams, is Lily home?" I asked, feeling extremely nervous.
He looked at me for a few seconds, then his face started to relax as he recognized me.
"You are that boy from the fishing supplies store aren't you?"
"Yes, sir," I replied.
"Lily is chatting with the guests. Would you like to come in?" he asked.
Sure why not, I thought. I came this far, I couldn't back down now. I needed to see Lily. I nodded and he let me in.
"Jacob, right?" he asked and I said yes. "Why don't you join me in the living room? Lily is there too. I'm just having a small get together with my business partners." he motioned me to follow him to the living room.
It was a giant room decorated with luxurious furniture and decorations. You could fit the living room from my house inside this room and still have extra room to spare. Just how rich was this guy?
There were several people in suits and designer clothes were gathered around and chatting amongst each other. A waitress was roaming around serving refreshments. I felt completely out of place.
As if her dad could sense my uneasiness because he came up to me and patted me on the back.
"Don't be intimidated by all this. I worked very hard to get to this point. I'm sure a hardworking young man like you can achieve something like this in the future." he smiled reassuringly.
"I highly doubt that sir, but I appreciate your words of encouragement," I said.
He motioned me to follow him to the library room next door so we could talk alone.
"Don't put yourself down and believe in yourself. I'm sure Lily will tell you the same thing," he said in a gentle voice.
Is everyone in this family is so damn nice?
"Daddy?" someone spoke behind me.
I spun around to face Lily. She was standing there with a shocked look on her face like she couldn't believe I just showed up like this. She had her naturally curly hair down which fell messily below her shoulders. She had minimal makeup once again which only enhanced her beauty even more. And best of all, she was wearing the dress I gave her which fit her even better than I imagined.
I couldn't help but feel a little jolt of happiness seeing she was wearing my dress. I thought for sure that she would be so angry at me that she'd throw it away or try to give it back to me or something.
"Lily! Sweetheart you got here just on time. I was about to come to tell you that, Jacob is here to see you." her dad smiled. "So he is the one you talk about all the time, isn't he?
"Dad!" Lily glared at him but he just laughed.
"I'll let you two talk by yourself. Just no funny business while I'm gone." he gave us a sideways look.
"Oh my God dad, please stop talking." Lily was blushing immensely.
Her dad laughed again and left the room, leaving us all alone in the room.
Lily looked down and then looked up at me. Her eyes were teary.
"What are you doing here Jacob?" she asked. "Isn't bothering me at school enough for you, so now you came to my house?"
"I came to apologize. I'm sorry I kissed you, I don't know what came over me." I said. Lily stared at me with those ocean blue eyes making my heart thump again.
"It's not just about the kiss, it's how you act around people I know. I'm not the kind of girl who's into guys who act like jerks to get what they want," she said.
I shifted uncomfortably. I knew she wasn't that kind of girl and I loved that about her. She kept me grounded. But sometimes I just can't help it and lash out. I wanted to change, really bad.
"Lily..." I whispered. "I miss you," I moved closer to her and touched her hair. I ran my fingers through her hair then brought my hand to her cheek and started to caress it. She closed her eyes, then touched my hand.
"I'll forgive you in one condition," she whispered.
"What's that princess? Anything you want." I said quickly.
"I want a re-do of our first kiss." she smiled.
Say what now?
