Chapter 9: ENCOUNTERED SCENARIOS
Read online · About 5 minutesDeandra's POV
I avoided my gaze right away as I rushed to the counter.
"Kylie...please can you give the orders to table number 8? I am quite busy with the other tables."
"Sure." She smiled as she walked past me. I sighed with relief. At least I saved myself to another encounter with him. I bit my lower lip as I slightly frowned while taking a peek at them.
I could see that he sat down in front of the beautiful girl. He's like explaining himself while the woman just gave him an amused look as she smiled. Is she his girlfriend? They look good together I should say.
She looked really kind, I am feeling glad about it.
I saw Kylie coming to their direction as she carried a tray full of food.
Andrew and her girlfriend looked cute together. They are supposed to be in a fancy restaurant but I noticed that the girl is enjoying herself very well.
----
"You're late again." She said as she smiled at him. He wanted to avoid his gaze but she knew he couldn't do it. She's just too beautiful for him to not lay his eyes on her beauty.
"I'm sorry, sweetheart. I came from school because I have to review."
"Well, how can I even relate? I know being a prosecutor in the near future should be very challenging." She replied with a sigh. She placed both of her elbows on the table as she let her chin rest on her clasped hands.
"You've been very patient.Thank you so much. What time did you arrive from America?" Andrew gently pulled and kissed her hand. She touched his cheek.
"I arrived at five in the morning yesterday. I've had a good night's rest so don't worry about me."
"I miss you so much."
"I miss you too. I can't wait to go anywhere with you." Kylie almost spilled the glass when she placed it on their table. The woman giggled at Kylie's reaction. She also glanced at Deandra who seemed to observe what they were doing from a far distance.
"Well, let's eat? I really miss the food from this restaurant. I can't see these foods in America." She grabbed the spoon and fork right away. He could see the excitement in her eyes. The sight of her reacting to foods like that makes him adore her more.
"How's your studies?" She said after chewing some pasta.
"It's getting tougher."
"Hmm, I think even if you feel like that, I know you can handle things pretty well."
"Yeah. I know I can. I have one of the strongest support systems ever!" She chuckled as soon as she heard his compliment. They even talked for more than one hour while eating. Deandra worked and tried her very best to go unnoticed for Andrew. She knew that if he'll recognize that it is indeed her, she'll be dead for sure.
As she entered the employee's room, she slid her hands from her pocket. It's the 500-peso bill that she got as her salary for that day. She peeked at Andrew again from the peep hole of their door. She wanted to approach him, and tell him who she is. She wanted to apologize and return the money he'd given her, but how?
How is she supposed to do it when she's not in the right timing as always? She gathered a lot of strength before she opened the door of their employee room but she can't see the couple anymore.
"W-Where are they?" She asked Kylie who was dashing towards her carrying a tray full of dirty plates and glasses. She handed them to her carefully.
"Who?"
"The people sitting on table 8."
"Oh, they went outside about five minutes ago."
She groaned as she shook her head. Kylie noticed her facial expression right away.
"Why? Do you know them? Do you have something to tell them?"
"Oh, no, nothing. I am just admiring the two. They looked good together." She smiled in a very awkward manner that Kylie also got confused by her sudden weird actions. Deandra glanced at her wristwatch and it was already 8:38PM. She's somehow thankful that she'll be going home soon.
"Deandra, let's go home together."
"Oh, I thought you'll be having a date with your boyfriend?" Deandra grinned as she poked her waist using her elbow.
"Eh...sadly, he had a lot of activities to attend. I don't even know if I am still included among his priorities." She smiled as she said that but it's as if she's about to cry already that she turned her back all of a sudden. Deandra heard her soft sniffing as she wiped the tears from her eyes using her hands.
"Thanks." When Deandra offered her a tissue, she got it right away.
They walked in silence on one of the lonely roads as they were on their way to their houses. Good thing Kylie is one of her neighbors. She's renting a boarding house five houses away from her house. Deandra thinks being with Kylie eased another three-kilometer walk. Kylie is also a working student like her. They usually discuss random topics but tonight, she's quieter and it's bothering Deandra already.
"Kylie, you can share it to me to somehow ease what you feel."
"Oh, it's nothing." She forced a smile when she could almost see the tears flowing from her cheeks again.
"The more you will suppress it, the more it will hurt you."
She stopped and hugged Deandra tight while sobbing uncontrollably. She patted her back in a circular motion as if massaging her as Deandra's way of comfort.
"There, there."
"Girl, please don't you ever rush into a relationship if you're not yet ready." She chuckled as her way of response. Deandra let her go and held both of her shoulders.
"I can't have a boyfriend when I look like this. I feel like I don't have the right to do it yet because there's a lot of people who look up on me as if their life depends on it."
"Yeah I know what you mean. My point is, you have to get a boyfriend that will simply love you for who you are."
"Thank you so much dear. I will do that."
"If you follow this advice, you will not suffer a lot like what I am experiencing right now."
"Huh?"
"Deandra..."
Kylie cried in front of her again. In almost a year of their friendship, it's the first time that she saw her cry like this. She gently swallowed as their eyes met.
"He broke up with me after I confessed that I am pregnant."
