Chapter 41: OPTIMISTIC AND STATIC
Read online · About 5 minutes"I have come up with the name...The Reike Trends." Deandra is in front of the investors presenting the brand herself.
"We're always used to high-end fashion but what about the common people? They all have the chance to shine and present the brand even in their daily lives."
She could see that they were all nodding to what she's trying to tell them. Since Khalid Reike, his deceased husband funded the joint business she presented to him years ago, it gave her the confidence to continue it and give it a name it deserved to have.
She also tried her best to bring herself to the top. She worked hard to attend many business-related seminars. She even went to different courses and programs that will develop and enhance her skills in knowing the nature of the business and on how to run it.
"Well-presented, but what about the middle-class and high-class target market? Of course we shouldn't compromise class just because we are considering the pricing of each item that even common people could afford."
She paused for a while, and from that statement coming from one of the major investors who is a fashion enthusiast herself, she secretly bit her lip.
"That's what I am actually presenting here. The Reike Trends will flourish because common people could still showcase fashion themselves that even our middle to high-class target market would be encouraged to try it because it is popular."
"Wow...I love that idea." The other investor agreed to Dahlia right away.
"If that presentation will be a bomb then let's get started. The Reike Trends. Live your everyday fashion."
She received a round of applause to most of the investors from her presentation. Even if his knees are shaking, she nodded to show her being grateful to everyone as she smiled.
They started to plan a world-record longest runway with a lot of people coming from all walks of life, as they wear the dresses, suites, bags, belts, fashion accessories, uniforms, gowns and many others.
As they achieved the world record sponsored by Deandra, she cried with tears of joy. Seeing what her late husband said to her three years ago made her realize that dreams do come true.
Until now, her memory is still fresh on how he has been treating her when he was still alive. He always put his faith and love to her and on what she's capable of doing. Deandra remembered that her husband is already proud of her even when she was still starting from scratch.
She could still recall how he put all of his faith in her in venturing in a business that she only dreamt of having when they first met. He's the only one who told her that she can do it. He reminded her that venturing in a business is a risk but once you're getting there, you'll appreciate how you started. Sacrifices were normal but once you overcome it, it'll be worthy.
"You know what sis? I am always proud of you since then." Dina hugged me as she smiled.
"Why? How?" I hugged her back as I looked at her face. She looked so proud of me for achieving one of my bigger dreams in life.
"I remembered it was the birthday of Dahlia, and she wanted a lot from you. A cake and fried chicken. I never expected that you'll bring those things because it was not your salary day yet."
I started to become emotional again. Yeah, that exact day...how could I forget it myself?
"But then I was surprised when you went home with what Dahlia requested of you. From then on, I realized that no matter what you wish in life, you're able to achieve it because you are goal-oriented."
"Of course. I have to do it because she wished for it. No eldest sister could bear missing her little sister's wish."
"That made you the best sister for us. Not just for giving us what we need but for being a great sister for us. For faithfully loving us with everything you have."
"Aww, thank you Dina. I love you so much and our sisters. I will always do my best to give you all the life that you deserve to have."
I hugged my sister tightly this time. I never thought I will be appreciated this much...although that day was really epic yet unforgettable.
That was the time when my one-thousand peso bill went missing when I was attending to the student's library card. I recalled putting it on the table and when I looked at it again, it was gone. Good thing Andrew came to the rescue. He was able to give me a one-thousand-peso bill for Dahlia's party.
Until now, he's one of the reasons why I am here at the top. I want him to pay for everything he has done for me.
For hurting my feelings. For letting me feel important and yet he's loving another woman who happened to be my stepdaughter. What a coincidence! What a funny life encounter and battle. However, I am feeling happy because from my experiences, it shaped my life and my mindset to remember the secrets to success my late husband did.
I have to admit that Andrew was the main reason for my misfortune that turned out to be a 'redirection'. If not for him, I wouldn't have met Khalid, my late husband. I wouldn't have the chance to fulfill my dreams.
Moving on, I have to continue what my late husband left and trusted me with. The Reike Trends. Even if I am solely running this business, this one is dedicated to him and on how he gave his full trust.
I called the attention of all my sisters. As we did the midday snacks, I encouraged them to study well. I want them to trust themselves more than I do for them. They promised me that they will do the things I remind them of. I love the enthusiasm of the three.
"I will be a good fashion designer, dear Dianne!" Dina proudly exclaimed.
"I will be a famous chef!" Dahlia stood up as she held her spoon. I couldn't help but chuckle. She really looked funny.
I noticed Dee is quiet in one corner. She's just quietly eating the mini-cakes I baked for all of them.
"What about you, Dee? Anything in mind that you want to be someday?"
She looked at me in the eyes as she sighed. It's like she is doubting if she will tell it to all of us or not.
"C'mon, dear Dee. You have to tell us!" Dahlia insisted.
"I want to be a soldier or a police officer."
