Chapter 42: REVENGEFUL MOVE
Read online · About 5 minutesDeandra's POV
"Dianne?" Someone tapped me on my shoulders. I opened my eyes and I realized I fell asleep by leaning on the table in front of the mountains of papers I have to read and sign inside my study.
"Mom...why are you here?" I smiled at her as I also glanced on the cat-designed wall clock. It was already 6:00 PM. I never thought I will sleep that long.
"I noticed that you entered your study as early as two in the afternoon. You haven't eaten anything yet since breakfast."
"Sorry mom. Got to meet the deadlines."
"I think you will not miss dinner this time. I personally requested that I will cook for dinner." She smiled as she faced me.
"Wow! Really, mom?"
"Yeah. Is it okay that I cooked more than five dishes? I love your fridge. It has everything I need."
"Gosh mom don't do that often our chef might get fired because of you." She burst out laughing as a response.
"Well, I asked him if it is okay. He said that I should feel free to do whatever I want."
"Okay mom. You got me there. I promise I will eat a lot." I smiled and it changed her facial expression.
We had a great dinner. Mom prepared her own version of fried chicken using her secret recipe. She also prepared some fresh coleslaw salad, rib-eyed steak and some mushroom soup. She also paired it with some brownies and red velvet ice cream for dessert.
"I really love it, mom!"
"Of course. Your sister Dahlia helped me in preparing all of these."
"Okay, since it is only 8:00 in the evening, why don't we have our night shopping?"
"Really, sis?" I could see Dina's glistening eyes.
"Why not? I love to shop at this hour because it is not crowded anymore."
"Why don't we just go to your mall? We can close it for our own convenience. That way, I can choose whatever outfits I have without somebody disturbing me." Dina suggested as she grinned at me. I looked at her in a stern way that she looked down.
"Where will the profit go when we're closing it exclusively for us for two hours? We have to think of that before making any move."
"Your sister Dianne has a point, Dina. Business is business."
"We can shop at any mall and keep our profile low-key."
"Oh gosh sis, you know what? It also came to me that I should be a popular businesswoman and a fashion designer so that I can change my name like you." She giggled as I rubbed the top of her head until it became messy. She held my hand and removed it as she frowned. Dee and Dahlia laughed out loud because of what I did.
"Your head looked like a bird's nest." Dee said between chuckles.
"No, a dragon's nest." Dahlia added that they both laughed while doing a high-five.
"Crazy, silly girls." Dina wanted to frown and yet she laughed with them as she fixed her hair.
"It's all final then. We will go to Seri mall." Mother told everyone as she grinned at me. I knew what she exactly meant by it.
I entered the mall and the people who were shopping there almost stopped moving as soon as they saw me.
"That's Dianne Swiss, right?" I looked at the ladies who wore glamorous clothes. It is obvious that they have an eye for fashion because they knew me right away.
I smiled at them and wink. I saw them giggle and blush because I gave them a second of my attention. A lot of people rushed near me but they were stopped by our bodyguards.
We walked and roamed around the mall. Honestly, there's never a dress that impressed me in Seri's. Most of the clothes were only designed for petite women, which is a big no no for The Reike Trends.
I should thank my stepdaughter for the things to avoid and improve at The Reike Trends.
"Mom, do you think I should release L,XL and XXL sizes for next month's Reike Trends fashion show?"
"What a clever idea, honey."
"You think so? This place is too depressing. If I will go shopping here with the body I have seven years ago, I will be sad because there's not a single cloth or pants that would fit my size."
"Yes, dear. I agree. Malls, especially fashion malls should consider sizes of all ages."
"Thank you for supporting me, mom."
My mom is beside me because my sisters ran to different aisles discovering rubbish. I hope they find something valuable out of all those things. I sighed as I looked around. Well, I should admit that Seri Mall has an excellent infrastructure design. That keeps the mallgoers visit their mall. I am never impressed because it is the idea of my late husband.
After the media and paparazzi covered me shopping at Seri Mall, the sales went up in one day. It made my stepdaughter Priya pissed off even more. She owned Seri Mall but in a few months, it will declare bankruptcy because it is not being visited by most people because of its costly and heavy clothes.
"You are unstoppable, my love." Mom clapped her hands as she saw my face being flashed as the popular news anchor had me in an exclusive interview about my thoughts for Seri Mall.
"Yes. This is only the start."
"You're going to be the major investor of Seri's, right?"
"Yes. I also wanted to own Seri blooms."
"All of Priya's properties?"
"If I could make it big, why not?"
"My dearest daughter, are you being too much?"
"If she keeps on annoying me, I might also do something she'll regret all her life. I am holding her on her neck. If she'll make a wrong move, her company is over."
My mom looked at me as I sat on my favorite swivel chair accentuated with real swarovski crystals. I rested my right leg on my left as I grinned.
