A Fateful Chance — Chapter 14: BIRTHDAY, FUNDAY

"I am so happy that you made it, dear Deandra!" Dahliah rushed to Deandra as soon as she saw her standing on the door.

"Of course! How can I ever miss this day?" Deandra chuckled as she spread her arms with the bags she's holding. Dahlia hugged her waist, while she hugged her sister's shoulders.

Surprisingly, Dahlia never got the bags. She showed her love to her eldest sister for arriving on time. Dina and Dee was the one to get the bags full of food and they put them all to the table.

"Where's mom?"

"She told us that she will buy some cold sodas." Deandra nodded and smiled. When everything was set up on the table, their mother opened the door. They noticed that she's holding two liters of sodas while grinning from ear to ear.

"I also have some balloons for you!" Deandra pulled a customized mini-balloon that has the shape of a unicorn. Dahlia hugged the balloon right away and kissed Deandra's cheek.

"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday our dear Dahlia, happy birthday to you!" Everyone clapped and sang for her as they put on the candles on top of her cute chocolate cake.

"Thank you so much! This is the best birthday ever!"

"You are a big girl now, dear. You're already ten years old." Their mother tapped Dahlia's head. She smiled as she hugged their mother, too.

"I will always be your baby, mom."

"Of course."

They ate dinner happily. It is also because of Dahlia's birthday celebration.

"Thank you so much Deandra. We ate a lot of delicious food for one day. I hope it will always stay like this."

"Of course. I will always try my best for all of you to eat delicious foods because I love you all." Deandra cheerfully replied to Dina who is busy eating the leg part of her fried chicken on her left hand and a burger on her right hand.

"Thank you. I hope I can eat this everyday." Dina said between munches.

"I will try my best dear."

Deandra's POV

The next day, I rushed to the library early in the morning for me to study for their exams next week. It's only every morning that I had this chance to study because of the demands of my work as a student assistant.

I am in her best mood. I am very happy that I have given my sister the birthday that she wants.

"Hello..." A familiar voice greeted me as he sat in front of me.

"H-Hi, Andrew." I almost stammered after I smelled that intoxicating smell of his perfume again.

"I never thought I'll see you here. It's too early yet."

"Yeah, it's the only time that I can study my lessons."

"Why? Are you that busy?"

"Yeah, I have a lot of part-time jobs."

"Oh, I see. That's nice."

"I'm so sorry again for bothering you. I know I have a lot of debts already."

"No, I don't mind. Just manage your money well and take care of it. I know that's your hard-earned money." I nodded and smiled in a very shy manner. He excused himself to be silent for a while because we're studying right now. I agreed and we both read books in silence.

As he sat in front of me, he was focused on reading the pre-law books. Me, on the other hand, can't help staring at him and on how gorgeous he is. I can see that his physique is perfect for my standards and tastes. I admit his physical appearance attracted me the first time. Now that I am getting to know his personality as well, I can't help but to feel happy deep down.

It's the first time that a guy is friendly to me and they mean it. Mind you, this is not another random type of guy. He is Andrew Meyers. He's the boy that every girl's dream in the University.

Even if he's aware that a lot of people are looking at him, especially girls, he's not easily distracted. I love how he maintained focus during difficult or awkward situations. Well, I guess I know the reason. I think nobody could ever replace his girlfriend in his heart. I already concluded this one based on what I have observed from the restaurant where I am working a few days ago.

After more than forty minutes, he stood up and bid goodbye to me as if I am his girlfriend. I smiled as I waved my hand, too.

Because I study with a happy mood, I had a perfect mark on my exams. I am too happy because my morning started great. I really love it!

After I attended the long hours of classes, I rushed to my duty at the library. After Andrew sat in front of me this morning, I wanted to see him again.

As soon as I reached my mini-table and attended to many students, I could see Andrew approaching me. He's smiling from ear to ear.

"Hello, Deandra! Here's my library card."

"Coming right up!" I smiled back at him as I got the library card that's inserted between his pointing finger and index finger.

"Thank you." I nodded as I avoided his gaze. I might melt if I continue to stare at his gorgeous pair of eyes. The way he would look at me is so addicting. He has a pair of appreciative eyes which I liked the most. Also, his pointed nose and naturally pinkish lips.

He left in front of me while I stared at him dreamily. A hand waved in front of my face that brought me to my senses.

"I guess I know why you're happy lately." Kelly grinned as she raised her eyebrows up and down. She's as if teasing me, I am so busted.

"What? Of course it's nice to be happy everyday. Do you have a reason for your happiness as always?"

"Of course. We should have our reason for everything," She inched closer to me. I could feel the air coming from her lips near my ear.

"Well, I guess your reason for your happiness is Andrew Meyers, right?" She said while giggling in a soft voice. I can't help but blush as well.

I hate to admit it but I am busted. My goodness!
