Chapter 55: IN HIS OWN EYES
Read online · About 6 minutesDeandra's POV
After that night of confrontation, I slept inside our room. I told Andrew to sleep on the couch in our living room. I have fallen asleep with a heavy heart. I decided to leave him a letter that I will be going somewhere for the meantime.
Somewhere far from him right now. I want to go to the villa for the meantime to get the peace that I wanted. Seeing him would make me feel bitter again and it would lead to another argument. As much as possible, I don't want it to happen.
As soon as I arrived at the villa, I decided to sleep inside my room with Walter near me.
"Mommy? Are you alright?" He looked at me as I welled up with tears. I almost forgot that I'm with Walter. My poor baby has no idea of what his mommy have been through these past few days.
"B-Baby?" I smiled as I lift him up and pulled me close to me as I sit on our comfortable bed. He was still looking at my face as he helped me wipe my tears with his tiny hands.
"Why are you crying?" He asked in the most innocent way. I smiled at him as I kissed his forehead.
"Well, there are things that mommy can't tell you this time."
"Is it about your job, mommy? Is it very hard for you to do it?"
I chuckled as I heard these words from my son. He's really smart. I guess that's how he observed the situation I'm in now.
"Wow, how did you know, my dear munchkin?"
"Of course I know it. It is just like my homework. Aunt Dee will teach me how to do it. When it gets difficult, I can't help but to cry because I can't answer it anymore."
"Awww...come here baby," I hugged Walter really tight. I never thought he could think of these things and connect to certain situations already. It made me feel proud of him as my son. Although the main reason why I cried was his father.
My poor baby slept beside me, hugging me close to him. I couldn't help but shed a tear because of this priceless sight. As soon as I woke up, Lilian followed us to the dining hall. It was time for the midday snack that I invited her to eat with us as well.
"Madam, the private investigator for Priya just called me."
"What about it? I am actually deciding to stop investigating about her because I guess she's learning her lesson now."
"Well, all the lawyers did what they needed to do. Good thing, that exclusive press conference did not affect 'The Reike Trend's reputation.
"Yes. The business that I worked hard for can never be trampled by her easily."
Lilian nodded and sighed. Deandra saw Lilian's smile.
"Spill the beans."
"Would you like to know more about Angela?"
"Angela?" I gave her a puzzled look.
"Turns out, Priya's real name is Angela. She's not the real daughter of Mr. Swiss."
"What?" I almost spilled the water from my mouth because of what I just heard. How could it be possible?
I can see my baby Walter gazed at my direction. He also gave me that weird look as he stopped from eating too.
"What did my private investigator tell you this time?"
"Madam, I know you're not trusting Nicko that much. However, he called me before you arrived. He even had some evidence to prove that Priya is not the real daughter of your husband."
"I couldn't believe it." I can't help but grin because of what I just discovered. Priya badly wants to give me bad publicity? Well, what if I will return the favor this time?
"Madam...I am getting the point of why Priya is trying to blame Mr. Swiss's death to you. Is this a possible cover up?"
"You know what Lilian? You can really read my mind."
I grinned as we exchanged meaningful looks. Turns out what they have been telling is really true. A puzzle is meant to be put together to be solved.
She lit her cigarette as she opened the letter from her mailbox. It was a mystery for her since there wasn't a name of the one who sent it to her. She went to her room to check on the letter and she crumpled it right away with rage.
It says: "Hello, Angela...nice to meet you. Why would you come visit your stepmother sometimes?"
"You can't do this to me, Dianne! You'll regret everything! I swear!" She couldn't help but to throw away the things that she could see inside of her room.
She started to look for her phone. She needed to talk to someone who could understand her right now.
"Denysse?" She felt her fingers shaking as she held her phone. She held it firmly this time to somehow stop what she felt.
"W-Where are you?"
"I went to the mall with Walter."
"R-Really?"
"Yes. I need to go back to the villa to accompany him back home. Why? Do you need anything?"
"Well, I was wondering if we could meet right now. I need to talk to you."
"I have to return to the villa as soon as possible. Lilian might search for Walter and she will get angry if I return Walter home late. I will go to the hospital afterwards."
"Would you mind if I will return Walter instead? You seem to be busy right now."
"Yeah, that's right. I'm kind of busy right now. Would it be okay for you?"
"Yeah, I am the one offering so it's really okay." Priya grinned about what she had in mind.
Denysse went to Priya's condominium. Since the hospital is near to her place, Denysse bid goodbye to Priya as she handed Walter to her.
"Aunt Deni, aunt Priya will go with me to the villa?" Walter was hesitant to go near Priya because of her makeup.
"Walter my dear, it's just me okay? Don't worry I will drive you home now."
"Priya please take good care of Walter, alright? Send my regards to Lilian. Please tell her that I needed to go to the hospital because there's an emergency."
"I will, my dear sister." She winked at her. Denysse kissed Walter's cheek and tapped his head.
"Walter, be good to auntie Priya, okay?"
"Y-Yes." He nervously answered, afraid of letting go of Denysse's hand. She gently let go of him and she let Priya held his hand instead. She eventually walked away because she's in a hurry.
"Come here, baby boy." Priya tightened her grip on Walter's hand.Walter groaned with pain as he resisted Priya's way of holding him.
They are on their way to the parking lot and she is almost dragging Walter that he's almost stumbling.
"Aunt Priya, it hurts!" Walter started crying. They stopped walking and Priya let go of his hand in a very harsh way that he cried even more. She bends down on his height as she widened her eyes on him.
"You will be hurt even more if you will not behave. Keep quiet!" Walter looked at her and wiped his tears between sobs. He kept silent as they went inside the car. She let Walter sit beside her as she put a seatbelt on him. On the other hand, she sat on the driver's seat next to him.
