Chapter 34: STANDING ROGUE
Read online · About 5 minutesDeandra's POV
I found myself dressed up for our dinner luncheon. Together with Mr. Swiss, I sat beside him acting like his wife already. Several maids were serving us with soup.
"They will be with us in less than five minutes." Mr. Swiss smiled as he said those words.
They had arrived at 5:00 A.M. but since I'm inside my room, I haven't got the chance to greet them. Mr. Swiss informed me that I will just formally meet them at dinner.
I slowly inhaled as I looked at the entrance of the dining hall. I felt his hand holding mine under the table.
"Are you okay?" He looked worried as he looked at my face. I chuckled as I pinched his lovely, pointed nose.
"I guess."
"My daughters were all good and nice. They have met you before this. I already sent them your picture."
"Well, I guess all my intuitions are right." When I lifted my head, I could see her standing tall near the place where we were sitting. She even folded her arms and I can see that she's smirking while looking at me.
"Priya...welcome home, sweetie." Mr. Swiss opened his arms wide that her daughter came towards him and kissed both of his cheeks in a classy manner.
"Hello, Deandra. What a nice coincidence. Of all the places, I have seen you here at my father's house," She looked at me from head to toe.
"You've got high quality standards." She said while slowly clapping her hands. Her golden bangles were making a lot of sounds as well as her gentle chuckle.
"Priya," Mr. Swiss said sternly. It made her stop from what she did. She shifted her gaze at Deandra and then to her father.
"Sorry, dad." She said as she rolled her eyes at me while frowning. I can see how she hated me by the way she sat in front of me and I can see her glaring at me as if she'll kill me any time.
"Hello, I'm Denysse. My 'Deny' is not pronounced by how it is spelled. It is pronounced as 'Deni' and if you read all of my name, it is pronounced as 'Denisse' but with a different spelling." Her youngest explained as she smiled. However, I could sense the sarcasm in it. Mr. Swiss chuckled as he shook his head from side to side.
"Denysse, why would you explain a lot to her? She could get it with less effort like how she flirted with our father, right our 'mom-to-be'?"
"Priya, stop it!" Mr. Swiss even slammed his hands on the table and I could see it got swollen in an instant. I am able to hold it right away, as the maids got some cold compress and gave it to me. I can see from my peripheral vision that Mr. Swiss is looking at her eldest daughter with a grim expression. Her daughter sighed aloud as she raised one of her eyebrows.
"Ohh, how sweet." Denysse said, amazement filled her eyes. She even put her hand on her left cheek as she looked at us. I shifted my gaze to their father's hand and their faces. He told them to eat dinner before he will make an announcement. I noticed that even if they don't like me, they have to follow their father as if their whole future lies on it. After more than twenty minutes of sharing dinner in a silent manner, Mr. Swiss cleared her throat as he looked at them.
"Ten years has passed since your mother passed away. You've seen what I went through until recently, I came up with a decision. You are both adults already and I assume you know the reason why you're both here."
I could see Priya folded her arms as she looked at her sister, who's also looking at me with a blank expression.
"I will marry Deandra and I want you both to be present in that event." The sisters looked at each other. It's as if they were trying to process what their father told them just now.
"I guess the wedding will be possible even without the both of us, right?" Priya said those words in a very straightforward manner.
"That's not a problem for me, dad. I just want you to be happy above anything else." Denysse looked at me and smiled. However, I am doubting every single word she's telling her father. It's as if she's devising a plan of her own. I am not really sure about it, though.
"There's no way of you missing it. I am also planning to change my last will and testament after the wedding. If any one of you fails to attend my wedding, you will not hear from me anymore."
I noticed how Priya clenched his fist as she turned her gaze to me. I looked at her and she glared at me like I am the one she despised the most. I know that even if she's not in favor of the wedding, she had to attend and witness everything.
I am secretly celebrating deep inside. I recalled the time when I discovered that I am pregnant and blamed Andrew and her ex-girlfriend for the misery that I experienced. Turns out everything happened as a blessing in disguise.
Knowing that Priya will attend our wedding, I felt that my own version of revenge is taking place little by little.
I smiled as if annoying her more. I noticed Denysse observing from a far distance. I guess she's that ultimate sidekick of her sister but she's doing it lowkey. I should know better.
"I guess this conversation is over without any questions, am I right, Priya? Denysse?"
"Yes, dad." They almost chorused as if looking at each other.
"Very well... I want you to go to your own rooms to rest very well for the coming wedding." Priya was the one to stand up and left.
"It was nice meeting you." Denysse came near me to offer a handshake. She smiled as she kissed my cheeks on both sides as well.
"I'm sorry dad. Priya is just stressed a bit because of the long flight. I apologize for her behavior."
"Thank you Denysse. I don't mind at all."
"I will go ahead, love birds." She chuckled as she also stepped out of the dining hall.
I sighed as if feeling relieved. I felt my baby kick a lot of times when Priya and Denysse started to go near me.
Wow, this baby is really sweet. I guess my baby wanted to protect me from the both of them. I can't wait to see you, baby. Mommy is expecting a beautiful or handsome baby for myself.
