Chapter 17: CLOSED DEAL
Read online · About 5 minutesDeandra's POV
I got up with a smiling face. What happened last night still gave me reasons to be thankful for. It's all because of Andrew. As usual, my best sisters Dina, Dee and Dahlia helped me pack everything. Since they will still go to school and it is their Art class.
It's Saturday morning and I am happy that I am granted to work longer hours from the library. I personally requested it because I wanted to earn more. Well, bonus happiness if I can see Andrew studying in the library. My mini-table is just beside his favorite corner so I could talk to him if there's a chance.
I could feel my happy feet happily tapping the ground as I walked in going to the bus station.
I ride on the bus with a humming sound. I am really feeling good that other students smiled as they looked at me. Maybe they find me funny and I don't care. I even tapped my fingers on the side window as I looked through it. The weather is perfectly fine. It's as if it wanted to be happy with me.
I alighted from the bus and I hurriedly walked on my way to the library. I looked around me and I don't see any trace of him. I just walked towards my mini-table and continued my work. I guess I will just be calm first. Maybe he will be here any minute from now.
There were a lot of students going in the library now. Some of them were so busy and some of them are getting impatient already.
"Miss, here's my library card."
"Okay." I received the student's card but I am looking at the entrance door. It's like my neck is getting longer because of anticipating his arrival.
"Miss?" The student is now frowning as she faced me. She's waiting for me to list her information as she enters the library.
"Oh, I am sorry," I am frantically listing down everything."
"Here you go." I gave her library card to her. She left right away.
I sighed because he is nowhere in sight. It's like my excitement is slowly fading away. Did he just forget me after what happened last night? I smiled when I saw Kelly entering the library. I waved at her as she walked towards me.
"Keir! Good to know you're here!"
She just smirked in return.
"Of course. I don't want to miss anything. Oh, by the way, Andrew Meyers is still having a class. I guess he'll be here any minute." She said as she winked at me. Before I could even react, she left as she chuckled. My goodness! That's really something! I was caught off-guard because of it. I don't know but her reaction is so malicious as she looked into my eyes. Before I could even give my reaction, that witch left already.
I touched my chest as I smiled. Here's my heart thumping like crazy again. I guess that information coming from Kelly is enough to make my whole day.
I realized that sometimes, if someone knows your crush, they'll be the ones to update you the most as to where your crush is right now, or what they were doing. Thanks to Kelly for it.
I am just sitting on my mini-table when someone dropped his library card on my table. I look at the hand that did that. That familiar scent made me smile automatically.
I looked up to know who that is and I could see Andrew's gloomy face.
"Hi, Andrew! Goodmorning. Here's your library card." I smiled as I gave it to his hands. He accepted it right away.
"Thanks." He walked to one of the aisles as if dragging his feet. He's not even happy right now. Did something happen while I am gone? Have I done wrong?
I observe him silently from afar. He opened his books and focused to read his notes. He's not even minding me and it is the first time that he didn't greet me. It suddenly made me sad, totally from what happened last night.
I can't help but to focus my attention to him because it's the first time that he's looking sad like this. I saw him sliding his left hand on his pocket. He got his phone and I could see that he's suppressing his annoyance to somebody who's calling him.
"I'm still trying to study here at this moment. Could you please call me later?"
He frowned. Maybe it's the opposite answer of what he's trying to explain.
Are they fighting with his girlfriend? Why is he acting like this all of a sudden?
He stood up as he still put his phone on his ear. He left the library still arguing with whom he is talking on the phone.
I felt so sad because he left with his books opened. He's always here so students assistants would often take care of his books and put it aside for him to use again.
"Would you like to do the honor?" Kelly teased me as she pointed at the books. I nodded right away as I held the book on my arms. I instantly smelled his scent right away. Sometimes I am amazed how his smell sticked even on the books he borrowed from the library. I waited for many hours until my shift would be over. Sadly, he didn't return to get his books.
"Well, I guess he will be getting his books on Monday this time." Kelly shook his head from left to right as she clicked her tongue. It's like she's the one who was sad for what happened.
"Well, the fantasy will just be continued on Monday, you can still see him."
"Is it your last duty today?"
"Yep. I wish you the best, dear. I will promise to keep in touch with you no matter what happens."
"Of course. Please tell me about how work will be for you. I am sure you'll be getting a good one." As soon as she heard it, her eyes glistened. She showed me her proud, beaming smile.
"Thank you for the well wishes, dear Deandra. I will never forget you as a friend."
"You will always be my friend, dear."
"Please visit me often, dear. I hope you will get your dream job really soon."
"Thank you so much."
Kelly and I parted ways. As I walked on the sidewalk, I saw a familiar figure sitting on one of the tables from a popular pub.
Is that Andrew? Why is he inside the pub all alone? Was he drinking before I could even see him?
