A Fateful Chance — Chapter 51: PARTNERS IN CRIME

Denysse usually visits Walter in the villa. As the younger sister of Priya, she's also attached to his half-brother. Dianne allowed her to visit since Walter is also looking for her sisters too. Aside from his aunts that surrounded him, he's used to Denysse's presence as well.

"How are you my baby brother?"

"I'm okay, my dear sister." He looked down as he approached Denysse. It made her chuckle as she gently pinched both of his cheeks.

"Are you alright? You look sad."

"I just miss my mommy." He looked into her eyes as he slowly blinked. He looked really cute and adorable even if he felt that way.

"Aww...baby, mommy is quite busy. Did you see her on TV?" Denysse held both of his shoulders as she bends down to his height.

"Yes, dear sister. She is always on TV. On the news, on the advertisement. But she never had time for me anymore."

"What? Oh you baby munchkin, come here." She stood up and carried him on her arms. Walter rested his head on her shoulders as he pouted his lips.

"Please do not think that mommy doesn't have time for you, okay? Mommy is only busy but she will come home soon and bring you a lot of toys."

"Wow! Really, dear sister?" Denysse felt the excitement of Walter to what she said.

"Of course! Mommy will give you what you want."

"Really? Even many toys? Robots and swords?" He said as he made a swooshing sound. Denysse laughed because of what Walter did.

"Yes. Everything that you want. Just tell mommy what you like and she will buy it for you." Denysse felt that Walter became comfortable and talkative now. Usually, if Walter is sad, he will never talk a lot. Instead, he will be silent for a long time and nobody could ever talk to him like the way Denysse does. She will often make him feel that his mother is only busy but she will be back for him. That she will always return back home, because she loved him.

She felt him hugging her tight this time. Denysse moved clockwise and then counterclockwise as she gently stomped her feet to rock his heavy yet adorable half-brother until he had fallen asleep on her arms.

As she looked at her brother, she couldn't help but wonder. She knew she had seen him somewhere. That Walter is looking very familiar to her but she only forgot the exact time or memory that she had with him. The way Walter smiled and some features of his face had a great similarity to someone she knew from the past. The thing is, she's not sure about that person. She knew to herself that she had seen him somewhere...

Andrew's POV

I just found myself walking towards the villa and before I reached the gate, someone stopped me. As expected, it's Dianne's bodyguards.

They have muscular bodies and at least three bodyguards stopped me from stepping forward because they stood in front of me to block my way.

"Sir, you can't enter here."

"Don't you know me? I am Dianne's husband. I have the right to go here whenever I liked!" I couldn't stop my emotions anymore.

"Sir, I'm sorry but Ms. Dianne told us to only allow authorized persons inside the villa."

"But I am her husband! Didn't you know me?"

"Sir, we understood. But we're only following Ms. Dianne's instructions."

"Isn't that reason good enough for you?"

"I'm sorry sir. I am only following the rules here. Please leave this place now or else we will be forced to drag you away from this place."

I can see that my wife went inside the house. I could see it from here. I guess she has no idea of the commotion that's happening outside the villa.

This is way too impossible. I can't be treated like this. I don't want to be disregarded like this so easily. And who is that boy? She was pregnant before she even got married to Mr. Khalid Reike. I wonder who that man is.

I slowly went back to my car more confused than ever. My biggest disappointment is that my wife did not tell all these things to me. For many months that we've been through, she's been keeping her life very private to the point of keeping secrets to herself. The thing is, I had to know it from someone.

I believe Priya now because she's having a lot of evidence that would prove that Dianne is the possible suspect to the death of her ex-husband.

***flashback***

"I am telling you all of these things because I know you're the only one that could help me on this." She held my hand that's resting on the table.

"She is my wife. Do you think I will accept you as my client if it is my wife that you are trying to tag as the prime suspect?"

"Andrew, we've been in a relationship for many years now. I am sure you know me more than you know your wife."

"Priya, I want you to find another lawyer. I guess I can't help you with this. I am sorry."

"So, you're trying to defend your wife even if she's making a fool out of you? Could you wake up, Drew? If not for me, you will never know she got married to my father first. Have you ever heard that from her?"

It made me speechless for a moment. What she said is true. Dianne has never been faithful to me. She didn't even bother telling me things.

"I want you to call me if you already made up your mind. I don't want to force you to be on my side now but please, think about this a lot of times."

***end of flashback***

I sat on the front seat of my car when I remembered my phone. I dialled Dianne's number and clicked on the phone icon.

"Hello, love."

"Oh, hi! Sweetheart, you called. Is there any problem?"

I closed my eyes as I massaged my forehead a bit.

"Where are you right now?" In a low voice, I gathered all my strength to have the courage to face everything I discovered.

"I'm in a meeting right now. I'm so sorry, I will call you later. Bye!" I could hear a young boy chuckling in the other line before she even ended the call.

This time, she's really making me come up with a final decision.
