Chapter 34 Should I reconsider my love for her?**
Read online · About 7 minutesAlex's point of view...
It was hard to believe but that young looking man was Amara's father. The man is somewhat too tall for his build; were he a few inches shorter he would be all the more handsome for it. It was as if he stopped growing only to be stretched on one of those medieval racks a half-foot more.
He met my gaze with a sigh escaping his lips. He looked tired. From his appearance it was clear that he returned home after spending hours of labour working in his cabin. He surreally looked like the owner of a big company!
My bad that I never took the time search about Amara or her background. Had I known about her background, it would have been easier to see her today. And then, I could have tackled this bitch looking security guards within a snap of fingers and taught a lesson to that little demon brother of hers, George.
Never mind, right after the end of discussion outside the gates of Rebello Villa, Mr. Rebello took me inside with him. He never exchanged any conversation with me afterwards but tiredly yawned. We walked past the big fountain and up the seven to eight stairs leading up to the main colossal door of the house.
"This way." I heard a servant say as he bowed down across Amara's father and me stretching out his arms.
The house was welcoming from the open door to the wide hallway. Upon the walls were the photographs of children, so obviously so loved. The floor was an old-fashioned parquet with a blend of deep homely browns and the walls were the greens of summer gardens meeting a bold white baseboard.
It was so huge, so big that I can play football with five teams all at the same time and even thousands of audience members can cheer us up by sitting cozily around us. As far as I saw, the foyer spread only making me gulp my saliva in daze.
The most timid and shy girl in the college lived in a big house like this yet never showed off— this thought of killing me. Thinking this selfless side of Amara, made my chest swell in pride. I fell for the girl who does not deserve me!
The banister was a twirl of a branch, tamed by the carpenter's hand, it's grain flowing as water might, in waves of comforting woodland hues. Under the lamp-shine it was nature's art, something that soothed right to the soul. I can only stare with open mouth and widened eyes. I can never feel this luxury even in my wildest fantasy yet Amara lived here all her life and never showed off, I was shocked thinking that.
Mr. Rebello looked me in the eyes as he directed me to the drawing room, far away in the other side of the foyer. It was another big room that was too big for my eyes to cherish. I have only seen these kinds of Villas only in my fucking nightmares. "Have a seat, kid." he pointed at Big plus couch situated in the middle of the room in a circle.
I nodded, too amazed to verbally respond and sat in the couch. Surprisingly, my butt sunk deep in the couch and felt like I was sitting on a bubble or a balloon filled with air. It was soo fluffy and soft that I never sat on. Apart from that, I can't stop comparing the sofa set of my house that was a thousand times tough and harder than this even though it was bought from Ikea.
Never mind, there were way too many things in this house— uh I mean, dream house that I can spend my entire life by gazing it. I had much important talk to do at the moment. "Uh I want to apologize for everything you saw outside your house. But I hope is it justified and you will definitely feel me if I mention that I have been shoved away too many times in the entire day. It was just my anger that spoke, that was not me as a person. I am way too cool and calm person." I did not fear while saying everything I just said.
Every word came out from my heart. Though I was feeling hesitated as my one wrong word could turn him against me. Then I can never woo Amara once her parents would be against me yet, I presented myself as the way I was— boldly and as a matter of factly!
A small smile crept on the corner of his lips. He looked amused. It was a good sign but I did not try to act too cool as it may also give him a sense that I was too bold for his daughter. Amara was a fragile Barbie doll after all, and no father would want a barbarian like me to hold her hand and walk on the path of life who himself was an astray.
"I understand. Give me a second..." he smiled with a light nod as he removed his coat.
I took this time to look around in the drawing room and was mesmerized and shocked to realized that the big black shining rectangular shaped thing that I had assumed as a mirror was a flat television as that of a theatre screen. Gosh, how wealthy was she?
It scared me. I barely had a Lamborghini, my parents possessed two Mercedes of their own and an apartment with four rooms and a kitchen, a hall, a drawing room and a dining room. We though had bank balance that was enough for us to live our lives happily without having to worry about the future but after seeing her house I only grew nervous and my chance of being with Amara started to dwindle.
Suddenly I started getting this unusual thoughts that we were not compatible. This house screamed of wealth and class and status whereas I was (obviously) a handsome guy with the status as that of being from a middle class.
I belonged to the social care group where my father was a mere accountant and mother a house wife who ran small restaurant which was working quite well. But looking the wealth Amara possessed, I can clearly say that her father owned ten to twenty companies.
Unfortunately, everything was only forcing me to change my decision of meeting Amara and go back to college without confessing my feelings to Amara!
Her father would never accept me as his son in law. That little bastard brother of hers have already put me in his black list. And all this wealth I saw with my eyes was screaming and telling that I should rethink about her and consider my decision. Did I really want to do this?
My playboy background was another big reason for him to reject me. "Give me a second kid, I will order some snacks for you. My wife's in the kitchen with Amara. She will be here in sometime. Feel comfortable." it was hard to accept his smile but the mention of Amara's name soothed my heart and I cannot say a no to the snacks she would make me.
He was an owner of immense wealth and unlike other wealthy rich fathers he was acting too nice with me. I have seen other wealthy businessmen who treated people from social working class as insects. For example, Perry's father.
Though he was a mere trustee of our college, he still acted like he owned wells of petrol in Dubai and always degraded me every time I met him. He never left a chance to make me feel small and always warned me to be nice with his daughter like was a princess!
But Amara's father, he was behaving too opposite of what other wealthy rich men does.
"NO thank you, sir! I just..." the thought has left a great effect on me that even my tongue could not support my confidence.
He quizzically stared me. His eyes read my muscles and biceps, until he stopped on my eight pack abs that were quite visible from the thin t-shirt I wore. "Did not you just said you have been here for the entire day! Doesn't that mean you are hungry since then!" he cocked an eye brow catching me in the web of my own words.
He sure was a clever father, and I was nothing in front of him, particularly s dumb head who had to take help from his daughter to get passed. Gosh, help me stand him bravely.
