Chapter 16
Read online · About 6 minutesGrunting in aggression and huffing severely, Alex entered Martin's apartment unannounced. His friend was perplexed finding him there out of no where. "Where have you been, Al!" Martin stood up from his seat and approached him.
He and their other friends have been looking for him like crazy. After they had taken him away from the staff room area Alex just disappeared not before chipping a confusing statement. "Hey what is wrong with ya?" Alex acted weird. He slipped in the sofa avoiding Martin's words.
Even after that he asked him a few questions and much to his surprise he got answers for none of them. There was visible anger on Alex's face that indicated something wrong must have happened. With a deep breath Martin took a seat on the single sofa across silently.
He knew when Alex does that. Something must have happened really wrong that made him act like that otherwise, he had not neglected his best buddy like that. "Fine. All fine. I am fine. Martin is fine." Martin talked to himself, he reached for the magazine before him. His clumsy actions forced a smile to creep on Alex's face as his words sounded funny. Nevertheless, he did not let it spread of his lips wider.
The two of them wasted an hour sitting quietly on the couch. None of the two spoke. Although they kept stealing glances of each other, yet they determined to avoid any sort of talk from each other. The winds were getting stale and warm. Martin rose from his place in order to push the curtains away from the window lazily.
He had just reached there and gripped the fabric of the thick veils of the window when Alex spoke, "I went to see Amara." As soon as those words spilled out if his mouth, Martin turned around with a bewildered face.
He blinked his eyes as if that was the most shocking statement of the day, "What?" he asked lingering his fingers on the edge of the window sill.
The breeze gushing inside from the open window rippled his hair. His tank top also babbled in the ethereal atmosphere. "Um, yeah! I have gone to effuse my anger on her but I ended up in her lap." Standing there with an open mouth his dear friend stared him like he was narrating some story.
And when Alex told him how he spent the whole time in her room by sleeping on her stomach then, there was no limit to his surprise. He slipped on the ground with his pupils glaring Alex in shock. He listened his every word very clearly and carefully unless Alex finished his story.
"She was accusing me fir using Amara like really! Don't I have any other job to do than wooing a nerdo." Alex piped. "She freaking threatened me. She said that she'd scandalize in the college if I don't stop my game."
After that they sat together on the couch yet again. However, the atmosphere was not very much lively. Alex also told him how he swore before Chloe for using Amara for his advantage. "She was not wrong on her part, Alex." Alex's eyes widened when his own friend quoted that.
Like what were all of them thinking of him!
With an immediate inhalation Alex got up to leave. It was useless to talk to him any more. Why doing it when he was also taking him wrong. Alex withdrew his butt from the couch to leave however, he was stopped by Martin.
He pulled his arm and pushed him back on the sofa while signalling him to calm down. "Think in the other way, bro. Firstly, you suddenly start to talk to a girl whom you never paid attention to. Then, you began to spend the majority of your time with her. The college has also started talking to you. And now, when you were heart broken you went to her room just to console your shattered heart. Why Alex? Why?" His words made Alex to think upon that too.
Yeah it would not be wrong to think it that way!
Alex has really drawn towards Amara within no time. So much drawn that he ran to see her in his tough times. That was shocking! Forget that, the way he left in his car... It seemed like he would kill her but no, he actually did opposite of that.
"It's either you are driving away from your aim or you have really fallen for her." Martin spoke shrugging his shoulders.
On that remark Alex quickly replied, "No ways. What the heck is wrong with you all! Everything happened in the heat of the moment... There is nothing like love or feelings. You know why do I spend my time with her. It is solely for the sake of exams otherwise I wouldn't give her a fuck!" Alex pinched his throat.
"Exactly. I do know that but the others don't. And we don't want them to know about this before the finals either. So let us continue with the same only. But keep in mind Alex, it's just for the sake of studies... Yeah?" Alex nodded his head in agreement.
It was the second time they were talking about the same old topic and determining the same old determination. They have previously discussed the same regardless the circumstances made them discuss it again. "I will call the others. They are looking for you." Martin got up, he patted Alex's shoulder before leaving.
Sitting there lost in his thoughts Alex rewound their conversation. This time he would definitely follow his friend's words.

The situation was same on the other side. Chloe, who entered the room after having encountered Alex huffed in vex. She glared Amara with dark red eyes. "Did Alex come here?" Although her voice was calm, Amara can very well sense her resentment.
She nodded her skull while replying, "Yeah he came here to get some notes." Chloe sarcastically laughed knowing that she was lying.
Alas the innocent looks on her face stopped her from shouting on her. Sliding on her bed sighingly, Chloe stared Amara while she looked everywhere but her. "oh, so I am sure he must have told you about Perry and our professor, didn't he?" Amara chewed her lips.
She sat next to her room mate, "What? Are you sure. Perry with our professor!" Amara bit her tongue realizing what she just did. She spilled the beans on her own.
"Look Amara, stay away from him. He is not a good guy. You help him enough, and I am sure that will help him get passing scores at least..." Chloe reached for her hand. She gave it a friendly squeeze.
Her room mate was as innocent as an infant, she was not getting the seriousness of the moment. She feared Amara would hurt herself. And she can't do anything else than warning her. "I will stay away from him if you insist. But— I promised him to study with him until the exams approach!" that was another lie.
"Ugh Amara, why don't you get me my words!!!!" Chloe sighed defeatedly as she can see that— it was now too late!
