Chapter 17
Read online · About 6 minutesA few days went by in hurry. Now the day when Alex caught Perry with the professor lied in the history. Even the conversation he had regarding his feelings for Amara was now long forgotten. All he did was concentrate on his studies. He also stopped paying any heed to the growing threats of his ex and Amara's room mate, Chloe.
Half the month had passed and much to everyone's surprise, Alex a good portion. All credits were to be given to Amara, yeah... The same topper of the college who was paid no attention by anyone in the class. And just as she had expected and experienced— almost half of the class approached her for notes and help.
And like always, Amara cannot say a no to them. Even though she knew it was just for a little while, she still helped them with a smile. "I don't know what kind of person are you?" Amara directed her head in the left towards Chloe. They were sitting in the canteen on different tables.
Chloe was alone, Amara had heard her talk to someone on call who might be arriving in a few minutes. She threw disgusted glares for Amara while crossing her right leg on the other. "Isn't she the same person who betrayed you last year!" Chloe exclaimed diverting her eyes from her intelligent yet dumb room mate to the group of girls sitting across them and laughing.
She was talking about Ella, who has now joined Helen's group. Ella was Amara's friend for a few weeks after they joined the college but soon with the passing time she left Amara alone not before deceiving her. Helen ran a group of stupid sassy girls that enjoyed attention of all the guys in the college. And to join them, Ella broke her friendship with Amara and joined them. And recalling that time Chloe can't help but grit her teeth in vex as she had seen Amara cry for having been insulted in the canteen and left alone.
"This happens almost every time. When they need help they come otherwise they don't even pay attention you a heed! And then also you want to help them.". Chloe said further.
She just saw how politely were Ella and her friends were talking to Amara for the sake of getting some notes from her. And stupid Amara smilingly handed them her notes which she has been preparing for the entire year. "It's okay Chloe. We can't become like them, but we can do something to make them like us. I don't mind helping anyone here." The typical reply with a smile was again shoved on Chloe's face.
She fisted her fingers sitting straight in the seat and glared harder at Amara. Everyone was using her, be it Ella or Alex but this girl did not mind it. However, it was a must to make her understand what was happening to her otherwise she would be left hurt.
In order to give her a piece of her wisdom as Chloe settled on the chair next to Amara, her eyes fell on Alex who was approaching them. "Hi Amara! I am sorry I am late." All the heads turned to stare Alex as he shouted waving his hands in the air.
He did not mind people staring him or gasping in shock as he was actually sending flying kisses in Amara's direction. Alex simple came and sat beside Amara on the others side. "I hope I didn't offend you. You know Martin... He just kept me occupied with his shitty talks." He chuckled whilst sparing a glance at Chloe who was eyeing him exasperatingly.
That hardly affect him. Alex just held Amara's hand and pulled her out of her seat. She confusingly blinked her eyes alternatively fixating her pupils on both, Alex and Chloe. "Let's go to the library, there is too much distraction and pollution here." Alex chipped addressing Chloe indirectly. He did not give Amara any chance to speak for herself either. Alex picked her books and her bag in his hand and left the canteen in a brief moment while all the eyeballs stared the exit.
However, not even a few minutes has passed that everyone resumed their work, perplexing Chloe. It was dazing since Alex just had a heart break few days ago and also the news of him proposing Bella was still in limelight. And now this. He dragged Amara, the timidest girl of the campus with him. In fact, he also gave her flying kisses but still there was no excitement in the canteen. Nobody was interested in gossiping about the same.
Chloe remained silent. She was still trying to digest the fact until she heard a group of people talk on her left, "Was that for real? Alex really gave her flying kisses or did I just vision it." A girl spoke looking as dumbfounded as Chloe was.
But the others did not seem must surprised. In fact, when the guy next to spoke, not only that girl but Chloe too gasped. "Don't you know that Alex is using her!" The other day sitting with the two of them laughed, they knew about that. "Few days ago in the club Alex announced it that he's just spending time with Amara for the sake of exams. He made it clear that there's nothing more than that, and he also asked everyone to not think anything wrong. Nothing is cooking between them. It's just that he wants to pass in the finals and only Amara can help him. She's the topper after all!" The guy finished shrugging his shoulders.
All of them bust into laughter. No doubts, he was clever. "Great thinking tho! I must say he caught the right fish in his net. Now I will also approach Amara, I am sure I will at least get some more marks by referring her notes." That girl said making others laugh.
While on the contrary Chloe was left shaken seeing how selfish all of them were. So he really did what he told her that day.
He was really using her. But how can he? Can't he see how selfless and generous was she? She was right, this guy was just doing it for his incentive no matter how much it would hurt her. Leave that, he also influenced others to do the same.
And Amara, that girl was not ready to listen to her. She was bewitched by his charm that she can't see that it was all a game. He was just playing with her kindness.
Having got up from the chair Chloe made her ways towards the exit, she was determined to show Amara his face. They still had four semesters to spend in this college. And if she'd be hurt now than it would become difficult for her to stay here in his presence. "Ugh what am I going to do with you Amara Rebello, you are too dumb!" Thought Chloe to herself.
But on a serious note, did Amara really want to see his real face that was hidden behind the fake mask he had put on? Perhaps not.
