Chapter 25
Read online · About 10 minutes"Life would be back on track. Guys I cannot wait for today's paper to over, I swear I am going to throw all my books in the bin" Daniel announced sitting the hood of his car.
Today was the easiest paper and therefore there was no hint of anxiety on anyone's face. In fact some did not even have any books in their hands but surfed through internet cozily like it was not a big deal. They acted as if the today's paper was like a cakewalk to them.
"You stole my thoughts, bro" Charlie said playfully hitting a punch in his biceps.
The four friends seemed joyful as today finally the war of exams will come to an end. The journey that had started with fear was ending with happiness already. Well yet again all thanks were to be given to Amara. It was because of her notes that she lent Alex, and he distributed it among his friends.
They owed some gratitude to Amara and Alex was ready to face her today.
He had not met her in the last few days as he wanted to avoid any sort of tension that could affect him in during the exams. But now he was all prepared. So prepared that he never forgot to look at the entrance gate of the college from time to time in order to see Amara.
She was late. She had not come yet. There were only fifteen minutes left for the bell to ring and mark the beginning of their last paper. He was curious to meet her as today everything would end officially. He was going to accept his lies in front of her and apologize.
"Looking for Amara!" Daniel exclaimed following his gaze as to where his friend had his eyes sticking to. He bobbed his head thinking something and added, "Well you should. She helped you appear in the papers. You owe her. She helped us all, so don't forget to give her a good bye gift before you tell her about our plan. She will understand"
Alex felt something building up within his tummy. It was the development of some unusual emotions. His friend sounded selfish yet right. He owed something big to her but the problem was, would she accept anything he'd give her after listening his truth?
No ways.
There was no chance she would even listen to him as that bitch Bella already filled her ears against him.
But what Alex did not know was that she never listened to anyone else. Never.
Alright, the first bell rung and intercom burst with the announcement of their principal. He was asking all the students to occupy their centres.
Alex grew eager realizing that she had not come yet. He was being dragged by Martin towards their class, but he would not stop looking behind at the gate. Why was she not here yet?
He attempted to wait until her arrival but it was too late. Martin had pushed in their class. "What the, dude!!! I was waiting for Amara." He irritatingly said. The supervisor had not come to the class yet.
There were seldom few students sitting in their places while Alex stood in the centre of the door glaring his friend while he unpacked his bag on the desk. "What look at me with that anger. Amara is in her class already. She came earlier today, the principal called her" he informed.
"Why what's wrong?" Alex inquired.
"I don't know. She is a topper, they might have something for her to do." Martin shrugged his shoulders pulling out the cap of his pen.
Alex was puzzled and shocked. She came here in the morning, and he didn't know. Any which ways, he took his seat while shooing all her thoughts from his mind and watched the others rush inside.

Alex's point of view...
Hush finally... Finally, it's over. The war of exams is ultimately over.
I can't tell how happy I feel. "You look happy! Was the paper really so easy" The supervisor asked me as she approached my desk to collect my paper.
"Yes Mrs. Christopher, it was awesome" I replied.
Literally the paper was as easy as tossing a ball in the net. I can't thank Amara enough, all the notes she provided me were exactly what came in the papers. I wonder if she knew it beforehand what was going to come in the paper.
I quickly ran out With Martin soon as the bell rung. We met our other friends in the corridor and squealed on pleasure while we shared a group hug. The feeling was different and amazing. I still can't believe I attempted all the papers without any fear. And even I would pass them since all the answer I wrote were correct.
"I am going to throw a party tonight" Hardin, a friend from the BMS course announced opening a cane of coke.
Not even we finished the exams few minutes ago and these guys were ready with coke and burgers for celebration. "Come on let's celebrate" Danny pulled me and Martin together outside the college building.
"Eh buddy Alex, thanks to you. I am so glad you passed those notes. They were really helpful. Thank you so much man" Albert, one of my classmates and a good friend expressed. We were sitting in the garden across the college building on our cars and chilling under the sunny day.
Actually I had circulated all the notes given by Amara to them. They all had known I was seeking her help and do they requested me to forward whatever study material I received from her. I exactly did what they wanted and you can see the results. The happy happy smiles on everyone's face is the evidence of their good performance.
Surely, nobody would fail this semester.
"By the way, where is your nerdo? I would like to thank her for the notes" He chipped and my heart saddened.
I had not told Amara regarding the distribution of her notes to all our classmates. I thought she might not approve me. But these guys, they were threatening me at a point that they would tell Amara my truth and all, so I had to give them.
But now I was feeling real sad. Don't know why but a part of my heart was aching as finally the times has come to confess her. "Look she is there!" Charlie pointed out.
We craned our necks towards the college building only to witness Amara walking out. My heart fluttered as the recollection of our kiss projected in my mind. She was so gentle and sweet. I was watching her from top to bottom, adoring her beauty unless I realized she was not alone!
"What the fuck" I murmured under my breathing watching Bella walk behind her.
She seemed whispering something in Amara's ears and as it can be seen, Amara was fidgeting with her phone. She saw me and her face colour changed. "Eh Bella is there too. Do you think she wants to be friends with her?" Hardin put a question before all of us to answer.
"NO she wants to manipulate Amara against me as I ditched her." Iannounced, it was not a hidden thing though.
My friends quietly let Amara and Bella near us. I was ready preparing myself to face her. She assumed what was coming too. Before she stopped across us our eyes met for a second until Charlie uttered, "Hey Amara, thanks so much for your notes. They were really helpful. I don't think I could even sit in the exams if you hadn't forwarded your study material. Thank you" she smiled nervously, her fingers adjusting her specs.
"Oh so this is Amara. Thank you Amara, you were a great help to me too." Albert also hopped off his car and pulled her hand into his. He shook hands with her Forcibly and in the manner tried flirting with her.
She was uncomfortable. We all were guys, and she was the only girl among us. Bella's presence made no difference since she was habitual to flirtatious gaze of ours but Amara, I can see her eyes widening and glistening with forming tears.
"Uh Albert, we need to talk in person. Would mind leaving letting her go!" Her eyes shot back to see my face as I removed his hands from hers and took her towards the gate of the college with me.
She was thankful and smiled at me. Her lips were dry, she looked relieved that we were out of their radius. However, she continued looking down on the floor avoiding to see me any more. May be because she remembered Bella's words.
No matter what, I will tell her the truth today. I don't want to live with this any more.
"Alright, I know you know why I brought you here, so let's just stop pretending." I looked everywhere but her as I can sense her eyes staring back at me. "Listen Amara... I..." As I began with all my courage, she showed me her palm.
I was flabbergasted. She acted so strange. My lips sealed recognizing some tears occur in her sockets. "You need not say anything, I know everything already." She said.
"Yep I know but I want to clear few things before we go back to our normal lives. I don't want you to keep wrong impression about me because of that Bella. I am sure she must have told you unnecessary stuff about me" I looked at the crowd of the cars in the campus and my friends. There were Bella standing between Dan and Albert sipping come from Albert's cane.
I was killing her in my imaginations until Amara said the most flabbergasting statement hence taking my breaths away, "Nobody told me anything, Alex. I knew that you only became friends with me for my help." She smiled.
"If nobody told you then how?" I chipped an incomplete question.
To which her eyes finally streamed out, she chuckled looking here and there and spoke, "I always knew it. Ever since you came to meet me in the garden, you remember. You didn't even know my name. Since then, I had known your motives. Otherwise, why would anyone like you spend time with me!" my head lowered in shame. I can't believe my ears. "But I am not surprised, Alex. I am not surprised at all, trust me. This is not a new thing that people come and become friends with me for a motive. Everyone in the college does that. I am not shocked you did it too it was expected. I am habitual to this, so you need not clarify anything." She cried between never ending smiles.
And I can't do anything but stare her face. I wanted to wipe her tears and tell her that nobody would ever do that to her no more. Alas, my body froze. I thought I was fooling her but I only the one who was being fooled in the name of a plan.
"I'd you knew I was using you then why did not you stop me? Why helping me unconditionally with no expectations in return" I asked her as this question was eating me alive.
I lived all these days assuming that I fooled her, took her advantage but least idea did I have that she already knew about this all and never stopped me. Why?
And that answer was also given by her. Amara chuckled once more, her sobs mixed with her deep breathing while she revealed, "To be honest, I don't know. I always admired you. You won't trust me but I attended all your matches. I have seen you putting all your hard work in your matches. I was just impressed by you that when you came to me after Martin told you the plan, I couldn't just stop myself. I was forced to help you. Yes I knew about the plan too I've overheard them in the canteen. Even then I helped you Because... "
"Because what?" I asked when she stopped deliberately.
"Because I loved you. I didn't know that until we started hanging around together. You taught me how to live my life, Alex. But it's all over... We go back to the square one after everything, don't we." She wiped her tears revealing another shocking news to me while I dumbfoundedly kept rooted in my spot, my pupils never leaving the sight of her face.
"Uh I should leave now, I have some business to finish before the evening. Good bye Alex, and good luck with the results too. I am sure you will hit the charts." With that being said she walked out of my sight and I could neither stop her nor say anything as my head was occupied with too many things.
She loved me. She fucking loved me and I didn't know it!
