Falling in Love Was Not the Plan — Chapter 10

"Ugh my back hurts and my eyes pain!" Alex stretched his body raising his hand up in the air and sighed loudly that Amara who was sitting next to him serenely smiled.

It was really a hectic day. Nah, not for her but for him. He does not have the habit of sitting for three hours and studying continuously without any break. It was just three hours, and he was exhausted and the way his eyes reddened by looking just in the books, it displayed how hard was it for him.

"Are you... Smiling?" having seen her smiling at his tired appearance Alex asked. He was trying to shove the tiredness, obviously he was not used to studying so much in a day and when she negatively nodded her head in no with the signs of her smile left behind on her lips he mocked her, "Dude it is easy for and not for me. Please don't pull my leg. I know I am not good in studies."

All of a sudden his mood chanted and Amara knew that it was out of the frustration for not touching the phone during the study time. In spite of recurring messages he glued his eyes in the book on her narrow gaze. Alex even had to put his phone on silent just because she made him do so.

"Uh not like that. I am smiling because you studied for three hours and you are already tired. But if you look it in other way you will sense that the second lecture is still going on that means, you are tired before we could do anything more." Her polite tone chimed in the context nevertheless Alex's looks presented his irritation.

He displayed how difficultly was he compromising with his life just to study with a boring Nerdy girl who does not even know what life is beyond books. She is as boring as a black and white film which will only give a person diminishing marginal utility, Alex has started experiencing that already.

Only if he had someone from his gang who was studious other than Martin than this all had been very must easy. But then, studying with a group of your best friends is the word idea and it is a sin to even think about it when you have to prepare for the finals.

Anyway disregarding her polite tone and her courtesy that she even considered skipping her own lectures with him and sitting here for studies Alex rolled his eyes biting his lips disappointedly which did not go unnoticed by her at all. She avoided his expressions while collecting her stuff, taking him by surprise.

Alex sat straight witnessing her closing all the books that were spread on the table in front them. "What is wrong? Aren't we going to continue further." Now that guilt fell on him he realized what was he doing to her, how was his behaviour toward her.

He introspectively kicked his ass sensing what blunder he did. She was being nice to him, lending her helping hand in the times when none can help him out as they knew it it was going to be difficult. Making Alex Ragnar study was like trying to touch hot red lava... And here he was in no mood to shower her with some respect for her hard word.

"Mmhmm, it's enough for today. We cannot endeavour everything in a day, let's take a leave now. I will share with you all the remaining notes by tonight and if you can try, do them alone." She said wearing her bag on her back as there Alex looked at the table that was cleaned.

He saw her stuffing the books back in the shelves before exiting the library yet not before giving him a good bye smile however, as soon as she came out of that area her face fell. "It's okay Amara, he was just irritated. Don't feel bad." She explained herself remembering all his reactions.

The evening appeared bringing a wave of tiredness and anxiety before Alex's door. He sat scrolling through his phone while the tune of whistles rang in his ears. "Shut up Martin, you are annoying me." he whined making himself comfortable table on the couch while on the other hand his friend winked at him from the kitchen.

"Hmm so, Amara annoyed you, didn't she?" he initiated a conversation which readily captured his attention.

Alex ran his fingers in his hair letting out a sigh that conveyed his answer. "Kind of." He walked inside his kitchen watching how effortlessly he cooked the Mac and cheese pasta tossing and stirring it.

His mouth watered as the dainty redolence of the delicacy hit his nostrils already preparing him for its taste. "Wanna talk." Martin smilingly offered him an opportunity as it was visible on his face how much was he disturbed.

"I and Perry had a night together."

"You mean the last night!"

"Yeah, but you know what, she left before I woke up."

"So what, Alex! Isn't that normal for ya? You had have such uncountable nights before too."

"I know but that is not why I feel worried about."

"What is it then?"

"Uh, Amara."

Right after he made sure it was Amara the reason for his weird behaviour he bust into fits of laughter. The spoon slipped in the pan after slipping from his clutch while on the contrary he swooshed to the ground. "What the fuck! Are you crazy Alex" he kicked his legs in the air still not being able to understand how to react to it.

It was funny— for him. Why? Even Alex wondered and wished to know that.

His pursed lips, narrowed eyes and ruffled hairs proved he was fidgeting to comprehend that. "Amara! Like really dude. Amara. Oh fuck, my tummy hurts." He rolled in his stomach enjoying the moment.

Although it was not funny but his crazy laugh made it look funny. Alex stood taking support of the glass slab. The Mac and cheese was ready, so he turned the stove off hence focusing on his friend who had a lot to explain as it was not hilarious for him.

Dude that girl was getting on his nerves however her lack of response toward his rude behaviour pushed him in the pools of thoughts whether to take her personality in a positive way or negative!

He have unmistakably heard people talking things about her like how boring she was, she has no self respect, she stays unnoticed due to her attitude and all but then, what he learned about her so far was different. He could not come to the conclusion whether he felt good around her or bad.

The meet with her helped his forget about Perry, she also taught him few theories in Industrial Law and kept mum when he unnecessarily effused his anger on her. What was she? And why was her such attitude keeping him occupied when he had a good deal of other stuff to be attentive to.

"First of all, stop reading her behaviour Alex and second of all, don't forget you are with her just for a reason." Alex took a breath seeing his friend getting up from the floor. His facial looks seemed a bit serious this time which Alex was thankful for. "And third most important thing, you don't have to take her for real. She is boring as heck I know that, but she can only help you. You know Al, girls like these are only for one time use... Be it in bed or in college. Keeping in mind her appearance I am you wouldn't want to take her to bed that's obvious... But you can take her advantage and get fucking passed in the exams. You should not be having any time to think about her bro."

His eyes bore into Alex's while tried to knock some wisdom in his brain. Yeah, she was just going to be with him until the finals then why worrying about her so much! In fact, soon after the exams he has already planned to tell her the truth and get rid of her. That is how it was supposed to work.

After a thorough phase of self evaluation, Alex literally proved the say that, 'When friends influence, you really understand shitty stuff easily' as he smiled like he understood it very well, he stated, "You are right buddy, I need to stop thinking about her and focus more on her notes coz that is what going to help me pass but her behaviour. Come on let's watch a good movie."
