Contract Marriage With My Ex — Chapter 38. Too good to be real.

“So how are you now? I hope I helped you forget them from your head to some extent?” Forcing a smile in reflex I crossed my legs sitting comfortably in the seat.

The buckle was discomforting my posture. We were sitting in his private jet moving our ways to Serbia for the fair he mentioned, what was that? Uh I don’t clearly remember it. But any ways I heaved a sigh looking out of the window. “Hmm, almost.” I lied adoring the foggy clouds those seemed nothing more than accumulation of smoke together that formed them.

The azure sky running heavenly with the white clouds made my heart flutter. The world seemed beautiful from all the sides. Be it the scenic beauty of the lands or the heavenly exquisiteness of the clouds and the majestic aura of the lovely view. I have never seen something like this ever before.

I wonder have he or anyone like him who frequently travels in air planes have ever taken a moment to adore them! “These clouds, they are so beautiful. Have you ever wondered what made the almighty to create them?” I spoke that more to myself as it was a mere whisper.

When I craned my skull in my left since we both preferred to sit away from each other despite having empty seats beside, I saw how badly he was engrossed in his tablet making it clearer for me that he didn’t listen anything. “Payton! Have you ever noticed how beautiful the sky is?” my tone was certainly loud that awfully brought him back to the plane from his internet land.

His cute smile curved a smile on my lips too. Well earlier that smile was irking and more or less I desired to smash his head so that I could never see his smile again natheless never knew it will one day become the best smile on anyone’s face and that I would like it so much!

Having kept aside his tab and earplugs, Payton sat across on the seat such that his arm was resting on the seat’s back while his back on window on his behind. The way he smiled I can tell he was kind of happy that I initiated a talk between us. “Nah, I never found it interesting. What else can you anticipate from a person whose half life has gone seeing this colourless sky from the window.” As expected as it was, he chortled scratching his nape sheepishly with a grin.

This duffer does not know how lucky he is. He grew up in a wealthy family where the only means they preferred to travel was airways. Unlike me, who grew up in an orphanage where we passed our days cleaning the premises of the building and the nights by eating half a bowl porridge with a slice of apple or any other fruit.

Looking at the sky and the flying planes above head, we would wonder all together that someday we will also travel up there and explore the picturesqueness of the world from above. But with the passing time we all separated and now we do not have any thought about each other.

Some were adopted, some transferred to different orphanages that offered them good education while some like me departed after completing the school to take care of our living on our own independently. “So what about you! Do you like them.” He asked intently gazing my face and body.

His eyes never diverted from my face and the reason was my smile. The fact that I was wearing his favourite colour (dark redwood) made him look more at me. “Yeah, what else can I tell you than a simple Yess. Growing up as an orphan I desired to see much more than this.” It was not required to narrate everything in detail.

If he claims he loves me then I am sure he knows that well my life was more than a hardship. He learned the half of me during college times, the rest he must have done in these years. My emotional eyes conveyed too much. Our eyes locked when I turned my head to shoot him a glance.

He can see the hidden wishes I had and have. A sympathetic grin crept on his mouth while we continued to stare each other. I don’t know why he seems so opposite of what he was in college. “I promise when we get together, I will bring all your dreams to life.” That was more than enough.

At least he thought he will. Nobody never thought for me. His extraordinarily lenient behaviour was impressing my guts. I fear I might fall for his attempts soon if this goes on!

We sat in silent after that. Neither of us opened our mouths to strike any conversation further. I respect him for giving me the space and not trying to dig in further. Moreover, I am grateful to him that he did not ask me anything about my stay at Raven’s house.

He didn't even asked me what we did in these past months together. The cool breeze from the air conditioner slapped my skin turning it cold. I rubbed my arms resting my head on the window locking my gaze with the beauty outside. “Take this you might be cold.” He was standing on my side with his blazer.

After asking my permission with his eyes he affectionately put that around my body making sure he doesn’t touch me anyway. “Thanks Payton.” My eyes were tired. Even though I woke up in the afternoon I felt the need to fall back to sleep. I don’t feel lively these days!

My eyes were shut when I sensed something soft pressing on my forehead. “Sleep. You seem exhausted.” Wait! Did he just peck my forehead! As soon as I unlatched my lashes to see him, he was already back to his seat engrossed in his tablet while the air pods plugged back in his ears.

Am I dreaming or is that even reality that the guy I hated and cursed always was caring for me! I must be hallucinating!
