Excusing myself from the breakfast table I came back to my room. Why do should I feel bad about for his son! He was nobody to me. I just happened to be there in that house with him only because I wanted to execute my revenge.

And Billy, he was the primary target. It was decided ever since the beginning that I will get close to him such that it is difficult for anyone else to handle him in my absence. And when the right time comes, I would leave him so that he suffers gradually becoming an integral reason behind Raven’s suffering.

But why do I feel so strange? Why is he sad flushed red face affecting me! I didn’t decide to be his mother forever. Why would I! He was not even my flesh. I was any other step mother for him who hurt him as it shows in the movies.

Agreed he was a good company, I liked to spend time with him taking his care and seeing to it, he always followed my words although it wasn’t out of affection. Rather, it was pure aggression, the fury of pain in those years while his father was enjoying life on the other end.

Kiara, you need to stop thinking about him. Don’t forget his father only wanted to marry you for a reason. He did not make you sign marriage papers but a contract in the name of it. You are not liable if his son dies or lives in pain. You were and are alone like you were always.

Determining strongly to not think about him or his tears any more, I strode down to the floor once again. This time with a new Zeal and excitement putting on my face. “You seem different! What is that babe!” I sat next to him on the couch while he flipped through the pages of the file in his hands.

Payton was a flirt with uncountable relationships with women. Yet he never forgot to take his work seriously. In the last two years he reached to the third position in terms of success from the seventh number. On the other hand, Carter automobiles, Raven’s company reduced to the number two from one in the same span of time.

If he will keep working like this then in coming years, he will be the number one entrepreneur with successful business prevailing in the market. “Hmm don’t you think we need to go on a trip?" He froze looking at my face curiously.

I let out a chuckle at his expressions. Obviously, it was something to be curious about as I never offered him to go somewhere with me. “If that is to divert me from my work then no, I won’t let you do that.” He huffed concentrating in his file again.

Was he really trying to avoid me? Gosh, I cannot trust this side of him. Despite being slapped innumerable times by me or for that matter getting kicked in the groin too, he never stopped his deeds of flirting with me. Although today seeing him so dedicated towards his works whilst giving no damn to me, I felt so proud of him humorously.

“Uhh if you don’t want to go then I don’t mind. I will find someone on my way.” I feigned to not seem joking as I checked through my phone.

Honestly I had no good contact list that I can look up to anytime of the day since it was hard to trust anyone. Even today I don’t trust Payton in terms of friendship as I have seen him doing things to break my relationship with Raven in the college.

‘Then why are you sitting with him if you don’t trust him!’

Flaring my nose neglecting at what my heart remarked I focused back on the conversation I was indulged in with Payton. I know I still have trust issues but I can blindly say he is not the guy who will do anything wrong to me.

If he ever wanted to sleep with me, (that is what I have thought every time he approached me) then he would have forced me already. I have seen him more than anybody else over these years. “Ehh you really want to go out? Then, how can I say no to a beautiful woman like you. You are the nymph I want to own to myself.” I let him snake his arms around my waist and caress my cheek.

It was awkward to get so close to him with our chests colliding. However, I managed to shove away the ineptitudeness trying to look this moment in other way around— positively. And as I saw his face clearly I busted into fits of laughter eventually that forced him to move away quizzically.

He gave me my time staring my face with a cocked eyebrow and crossed arms. I can sense he somewhere anticipated what I was going to chip next, “Try as long as you can Payton but I don’t get that ‘Seducing’ feeling around you! And your pickup lines, gosh.” I held my chest laughing hard while he rolled his eyes looking away.

He is not that bad. I was wrong that I always noticed his bad side. He can be a good friend, perhaps a good husband too. “ That wasn’t a pick up line! It came out of my heart just for you. I never called any other women a nymph than you, because you actually are!” He sounded so innocent, his frowned face reminded me of Billy who behaved like this every time I would avoid him and concentrate on something else.

This vanished the smile from my lips. Again his teary eyes reverted in my brain as though that had to be the only thing to focus on.

Shit Kiara, not again. Don’t just let his face affect you. Don’t even think about him. He was never your priority. Let him be the way he is!

“Hey, where are you lost?” I swigged my reverie breathing a sigh.

He came forward caressing my arms from both the side gently while I stared him blankly. Why was he caring so much for me! “Again them? Ain’t it?” On understanding where was I lost, Payton annoyingly pursed his lips moving aside.

Turning around his back on me he crossed his arms. I can sense he was disappointed. I promised him that after coming back from there I will never think of him or his son. “I was just zoned out. Anyway come on, let’s go to some restaurant.” In order to distract his mind, I announced pulling his arm.

I awkwardly smiled watching his eyes that sent chills down my neck. They were darkly glaring me like I committed a crime. “Kiara.” He huffed placing his hands on his side with a heave of sigh. “I know you know I am serious about you. Agreed I am someone who cannot be trusted as I have had infinite relationships with infinite women but, I hope you can very well see my efforts. If you think I will appreciate you for thinking about them again and again even after leaving them behind than I am sorry, I am not doing this all out of nothing. I really want to win your trust no matter what. Trust me I want to spend my life you.”

I have no idea what to speak ahead. He was not imposing his feelings on me, yet I felt it that way. Why not, a guy won’t favour a girl unless he wants anything in return. And he wants me as his life partner. It is not a bad idea though!

Raven is my past, whatever we had lies in past now as I have moved on finally. Perhaps, Payton can be the guy I was looking for, a life partner. Who says people can't change! May be, there is more to explore in him just that I need to spend time with him.

“Payton let’s not talk about this now. I have just moved on from my past, give me sometime.” I lowered my head feeling heck uncomfortable. He surely is correct but still I need time to get over this.

I can feel his eyes back on me, yet he did not speak anything. Hearing him let out a sigh I bit my lips. What if I cannot make any decision? He will be heartbroken. I literally don’t want to be the reason behind that for I know it pains badly to be deceived by someone who you gave all your time but in the end they just give you rejection.

“Pack your stuff we are going to Serbia, the famous ‘Know you love It funfair’ of winter is waiting for us.” As soon as I shot my head up to see him, I found him smiling cutely at me. “Yeah better you pack more of woollen clothes than this seducing piece.” He chuckled eyeing my one piece again with a smirk.

Why on earth didn’t I see his good side before? Perhaps, I would have been the luckiest girl otherwise!
