Chapter 40

Read online · About 9 minutes

It'd been two days since the whole club thing with Caiden and I hadn’t seen him since. Part of me was worried that he would tell his dad and I would face the consequences, yet the other part of me knew he wouldn't tell. He's known my secret for who knows how long and hasn't spoken one word about it to anyone. Jax hadn't spoken to me since the Nick situation and I was more than okay with that.

“What are you doing?" Caiden asked with a raised eyebrow. My eyes widened, surprised that he suddenly showed up.

"Oh you're back,” I said looking back down at my books.

"Yea, I have to visit someone. What do you think you're doing?" he asked slowly, his eyes skimming over my body. I was in my grey soffe shorts and a black tank top.

I decided since he already knew that I was a girl there was no point in dressing as Jason when I had free time and am in the dorm. I had nothing to hide anymore.

“You already know I'm a girl so there's no point in dressing as a guy,” I said, shrugging as I closed my book I've been studying from. Standing up and stretching I glanced at Caiden to see his eyes were on my legs. Rolling my eyes, I walked over unplugging the charger from my laptop and grabbing it off my small desk. “So I'm curious, are you going to tell your dad?"

“No, why would I? Do you know how many guys would kill to have a girl as their roommate,” he said with a smirk, though his eyes darkening at the mention of his father. I couldn't help but wonder if the reason he was so closed off was because of his parents. Did something happen with them in the past to make him like this? I knew for a fact they were divorced because of that story that Leila told me about the dean and the headmistress.

Speaking of the headmistress, I was almost positive I was going to get kicked out of the school if I didn't focus more on my fashion class. That was the only reason they let me in there was because of my creativity and my art skills. She expected me to use those skills in that class she forced me into.

They needed their fashion program to be the best and for some dumb ass reason she thought I could make it the best. I won't lie though, at sometimes I did enjoy the class. It could be fun to draw different outfit designs and to learn about the easiest things.

Focusing on Caiden and I's, conversation I watched as he peeled his shirt off his body and laid on his bed, turning on the TV.

“What are you doing? Now that you know I'm a girl we should settle some rules. Keep your clothes on,” I said as I took a seat on my own bed.

“Listen baby doll, things won't be changing around here. This is still my dorm and you are just simply a guest. If I want to relax in my own room and where no clothes then I will. If I want to have sex in my bed then I will,” he said, in that moment I knew the old Caiden was back. “Things will go perfectly fine between us as long as you keep fucking mouth closed."

“You aren't in charge of me Caiden Anderson,” I told him looking straight at him and his hazel eyes glanced my way.

“Are you sure about that? I see you simply as a puzzle piece in my puzzle."

“And I see you as a cocky son of a bitch, but I usually don't show my dislike for you." The insult came out of my mouth without much thought, but it didn't seem to bother Caiden as he simply ignored me, turning the TV volume up louder. Rolling my eyes I turned my own attention to my laptop and started to type my paper due in my economics class.

About an hour later Caiden surprised me when he suddenly started to talk to me once again. “I do have to apologize for my actions when you first came to this school. I didn't realize you were actually a girl at first. If I would have known I wouldn't have punched you."

“You picked me up by my shirt the other day and you knew I was well me,” I pointed out dryly and he shrugged.

“I didn't hurt you though.” He had a point there.

“Well it's fine. I'm over it."

“I don't abuse woman,” he said his eyes swirling with darkness, he looked almost haunted by something. Did his father abuse his mother or something?

“Good to know,” I said almost awkwardly. Saving my paper I closed my laptop and got under my comforter shutting off the light by my bed. “Goodnight Caiden,” I said softly and he only grunted turning off his lamp too.

A question popped in my head wondering who the blonde lady was, but I decided to ask him tomorrow. My eyes became heavy and slowly closed themselves, I couldn't fight the feeling of tiredness that quickly swept over me and instead welcomed if and let darkness take over me into a dreamless sleep.

“I like to move it move it,” I sung loudly as I shuffled across the floor of my living room.

"Claire, please,” my mother yelled walking into the doorway of the room.

"Don't hate,” I said plopping myself on the couch making her roll her eyes.

“And you think I'm the weird one,” Jeffery said as he returned into the room with the popcorn. As soon as she walked out of the room I turned to Jeff smirking.

“She's just jealous I'm younger and cooler then her.” I pretended to wipe fake dirt off my shoulders. Yea, definitely cooler than her.

I grabbed a handful of popcorn shoving it in my mouth. No one can deny their love for the movie Madagascar it was almost as funny as me.

“I don't know what guys see in you,” Jeffery muttered, rolling his eyes. My thoughts drifted off to this morning when I woke up. Caiden was already gone so I didn't get a chance to ask him about the woman. My only option left was to ask him after winter break. Yes, it's already winter break. I've been undercover for far too long. I mean can you imagine being in my shoes right now. For heaven sakes, I'm a girl undercover in an all-boys school. That's not even close to normal.

Moving my thoughts off of Caiden I focused on the movie. Today I decided to spend the day with my little brother since I haven't seen him in a couple of months and he may not admit it but I will, I've missed the little punk. I haven't had anyone to tease and mess with in a while. I don't exactly think Nathan counts since he's boring to mess with.

“Hey you know how mom and dad are going out of town to celebrate their wedding anniversary?" Jeffery said randomly, keeping his voice in a hushed whisper.

"Yea, they do it every year. Why?" I asked suspiciously.

“Would you tell if I threw a party?" I thought about it for a long minute. It not like it won't be supervised, I am an adult.

“I'm not exactly what mom and dad would count as responsible in the first place so I guess so, but on one condition,” I said with narrowed eyes glancing in the kitchen where mom was baking. “I don't want any drugs in this house.”

"Fine Mom."

"Call me that again and I'll go tell mom your little plans,” I hissed quietly and he held up his hands in surrender. We sat in comfortable silence again, the only sound coming from the TV. Jeffery wasn't even paying attention and was only texting. Of course, typical sixteen year old.

“Hey can you invite some of your friends?" This really caught my attention, my head snapped to the side looking at my brother.

“Why?"

“I don't want you trying to hang out with my friends the whole time." The evil glint in his eyes told me he was lying but I didn't comment on it. It became obvious the reason why he wanted my friends to come. They're older and they'll bring alcohol.

“I don't support my sixteen year old brother drinking. If the cops come and you end up in jail it will be bad for all of us,” I warned him and he pushed my shoulder lightly.

“C'mon sis, lighten up. You sure you're still nineteen or are you fifty? Don't be lame. You're supposed to be the cooler older sister.” He knew exactly what to say to convince me.

“I'll invite them, but when things get out of control don't come blaming me. I'm not looking after a bunch of drunk teenagers.” Standing up I started to head upstairs, but paused turning around with my hands on my hips. “And just so you know I am a cool older sister. I mean look at this.” I moved my hips in a circle pointing my thumbs at myself. I'm one cool cat. “Most people can't dance like this."

“Please tell me you won't dance like that,” he looked honestly scared making me frown.

“I was actually thinking about doing the sprinkler or maybe we can even go back a few centuries and do the Charleston,” my mom walked in just at the end of the sentence and her famous glare was on her face looking straight at me. Oops.

"The Charleston is not centuries old See I still do it,” she said before starting to dance.

“Mom!" Jeffery yelled covering his eyes. The horror, my eyes were burning. I think I was going to be blind after this. She pulled out her hair tie and shook her hair making it go wild. Throwing off her apron she continued for another couple of minutes before I yelled at her to stop.

“You two are over dramatic. You must have gotten that from your aunt Katherine.” She rolled her eyes pulling her blonde hair back into her ponytail. “I came in here to tell you the cookies are done.” She made her way back into the kitchen and Jeff turned to me with a pleading look.

“If you do that tomorrow I will bury you,” he threatened. “I will be known as the loser."

“You shouldn't care what people think of you, Jeff,” I told him and he only shrugged focusing on the movie and the popcorn in his lap. I headed up into my bedroom, shutting the door behind me. Turning on my 5 Seconds of Summer CD, I laid back on my bed. What do college students do at home? In the past I would hang out with friends, but Nate was going to the movies with Mia. They of course invited me but I got out of it by making up an excuse. Mia had to realize they were meant to be together and grow old and live a happy life like some fiction book on Wattpad. I wish my life was that easy, find a guy and live happily ever after. Plus besides all of that I have to keep my promise with Jeff.
