Chapter 20
Read online · About 10 minutes“Claire-bear, what are you doing here?" Nathan asked me, shaking my body. I groaned and snuggled into his warm bare chest.
"Shh,” I ordered swatting away his hands." Where's your roommate?"
"He had a class at seven."
"Good. Then let me sleep. I am free from those awful classes for the day,” I told him before shoving my head into the pillow.
“Well you have fun sleeping then,” Nathan got up and I groaned at the now cold feeling.
“Will you send Nick up?" I whined and he snorted.
“Sure, would you like a breakfast buffet too? Orange juice or milk?" he replied sarcastically.
“Go sleep in Nick's room. I'm guessing Caiden's being an ass-"
"As usual."
“But I have a job to get to and who knows what Ashton, Cam and Leon will do when they come up here and find you sleeping."
“They're coming up here?" I asked, surprised lifting up my head and squinting my eyes at the figure getting dressed.
“They usually come up here and hang out for a while after class,” he said casually and I groaned for what seemed to be the millionth time and reluctantly got up. I slid on my shoes and flicked Nathan off before slamming the door. I checked the time on my phone to see it was only nine in the morning. I took the elevator and went down one floor. I knocked on Nick's door-well more like pounded.
"What the hell do you want?" Nick yelled before opening the door. When he saw it was me he smiled and pulled me in slamming the door. He pressed his lips to mine but I quickly pulled back with a scowl.
“Morning breath,” I said and he rolled his eyes.” I only came here for your bed."
“You only use me for my bed,” he said, pretending to wipe away tears.
“And you only use me for sex,” I said flipping down on his bed like a fish.
“We haven't even had sex!" he said throwing his hands up dramatically pouting.
“Details, details,” I said rolling my eyes.
“What a great relationship we have,” he said putting his face in my stomach. I raised an eyebrow amused.
"What are you doing?" I asked him letting out a small laugh.
“I'm enjoying the feeling of your stomach. It misses me,” his warm breath was now fanning my bare stomach.
"I love how you his start pulling up my clothes whenever you feel like it,” I said with a smile.
"Please I know you like it. But if it's that big of a deal then you can do the same for me."
"You're only wearing boxers,” I pointed out.
"I could be wearing briefs,” he said wiggling his eyebrows, looking up at a smirk playing on his lips as I got up.
"I mean you’re not wrong, but I have to go do my daily spying. My dad doesn't have a class at this time,” I said grabbing a water out of his mini fridge.
“Quick question, why didn't you just go to your room and sleep?" he asked curiously.
“I left my key in the room and Caiden locked me out. He's being a complete ass and so I can't get in,” I said scowling.
I wonder how many times a day I say the words ass and Caiden in the same sentence.
“Do you want me to go help you into your room and with your dad?" he asked me and I raised my eyebrows not hiding my surprise.
“If you want to. But we have to hurry."
Nick got into the room by tricking Caiden and then he me in. Caiden of course wasn't exactly the happiest person to be around when he found out. But overall Nick only ended up with a sore cheek. Before Caiden stormed out of the room he stopped in front of me.
“At this rate you will never find out who she is.” He sneered, pushing me out of the way.
“I'll find out myself!" I yelled when he was halfway down the hall. He turned back a little and gave me a quick smirk.
“No, you won't,” he said seeming almost smug like he knew something I didn't.
He does know something you don't.
Shut up.
I walked back into my room and slammed the door angrily. Nick gave me a weary look and I just shook my head and walked over to my drawers, quickly changing not really caring if Nick was in here or not.
“Just saying if you weren't in all that guy stuff you would be pretty sexy mad. I could just imagine your blonde hair moving back and forth as you angrily slam everything. With your cheeks how they are now tinted with a little red.” I rolled my eyes and shook my head at my boyfriend. Oh right I should probably tell you how he asked me out a while ago. It's not really a long romantic story it's the simplest story actually.
He left a sticky note on every one of my books and a few of my clothes with a word on each one. Once I put them all together it said, 'Will you marry me?' (One even had a plastic ring attached to it with a smiley face sticker on the diamond.) Then the other part said, ' I didn't think so. Don't worry babe in a few years. But will you be my girlfriend? I won't take no for an answer' with a wink face. I found It cute that he took the time do all that. I won't question how he was able to be in my room without Caiden or me in there.
“Well you know I'm not blushing because Claire Martez does not blush,” I said to Nick when he kissed my red cheek.
"Not even once?" he asked me looking unconvinced.
“Nope, not once. Not even when I threw up during my basketball team picture on everyone in front of me."
“Ew,” he said his disgust evident on his face.
“You're such a girl."
"Me? No. You yes. You have the parts and everything.” He smirked and my hand connected with the same cheek Caiden punched making him wince.
"Don't be disgusting,” I said grabbing my key for the room off my table by my bed.
"Sorry, wifey,” he said before pressing his lips to mine but I pulled away.
“You may have already brushed your teeth before you left your room and but I have not,” I said heading straight toward the bathroom ignoring his groan. I quickly brushed my teeth before exiting the bathroom and the room with Nick.
“Can I kiss you now?" he asked me and before I could respond he had his lips on mine. I responded for only about thirty seconds before I pulled away.
“No kissing in public while I’m dressed like this." We took the quick ride on the elevator and exited.
"Hey, there's your dad.” Nick pointed to the parking lot where my dad was walking with the blonde woman again. He kept moving his hands making me roll my eyes. My dad was always one of those people that used hand gestures whenever he is talking.
"We're using your car,” I told him. He took out his keys, wiggling them in his face. We ended up following my dad all the way to Mr. Hero.
“Mr. Hero? Really?"
“Hey they have good food,” I defended.
“I think I’d rather eat a rat’s ass,” he said and I shook my head.
“You're lucky I like you,” I said shaking my head as we walked in together. My dad was already sitting at a table talking with the blonde woman. I narrowed my eyes but looked away from the two when the guy to the counter cleared his throat.
“Sorry, can I have a seven inch Philly cheese steak sandwich with cheese fries? Oh and a fountain drink,” I asked them, my eyes glancing back over to the table before returning to the guy. Actually looking him over, my eyes widened.
“West?" He looked at me confused.
“Do I know you from somewhere?" he questioned and Nick elbowed me and I quickly shook my head.
"No, I just read your name tag,” I said awkwardly ignoring Nick’s intense stare at the side of my face. Guessing Nick already ordered he told us the price and Nick ended up paying for the whole thing. I thanked West grabbing the cups from his hand and handing one to Nick. We walked over to the drinks and Nick looked at me with a frown after filling up his cup with sprite. He frowned as we took a seat.
“Who was he?" he asked me.
"He's just a guy that stole my yogurt,” I said simply and Nick chuckled.
"Only you, Claire,” he said and my eyes widen looking over at my dad's table. He didn't seem to hear anything making me sigh in relief.
“I'm Jason remember,” I hissed, my eyes narrowing and he quickly apologized.
“She looks like she's taking notes.” He pointed out changing the subject.
“I wonder what she's writing down,” I thought out loud.
"I'll go find out,” Nick said and I raised an eyebrow.
“How exactly are you going to do that?" I asked him curiously.
“Just watch and learn.” He winked blowing me a kiss and standing up. He walked confidently over to their table and my father’s eyes widened surprised to see his student.
"Hello, Nick,” my father greeted politely." What can I do for you?" He took a bite of his sandwich which I knew was the same as mine.
"Oh, I was just wondering if that was actually you. I mean I didn't know you had a social life. Well I’ll be honest with you, Mr. Martez, I didn't know you even left your classroom,” he said rocking back and forth on his heels. Nick suddenly picked up the blonde ladies drink and looked intently at it before taking a sip.
"Pepsi?" he questioned and my father glared at my boyfriend.
Another loud slurping sound sounded through the small food place. "Coke?" My father stood up from his chair trying to hold back his anger.
“Woah, simmer down,” he said holding up his hand before removing the lid and taking one last loud sip. “I know it's actually Dr. Pepper.” Nick rolled his eyes. He set the drink down but then accidentally hit it with his wrist making the large drink spill all over the table. The blonde’s notes call soaked with pop. She stood up gasping as pop dropped on the floor from her skirt and I quickly rushed over. I didn't look at my father once and only looked intently at the lady as I talked.
“Nick, what the hell!" I said picking up the wet papers.
“It was on accident," he pouted.
“Let me go dry these off for you,” I said being careful to not rip the papers.
“No, it's fine really,” she said looking panicked. I shook my head and held the papers farther away from her,
“No, I insist. I'll fix it,” I said heading toward the bathroom. Nick gasped and put his hands on his hips and standing straight.
“I'll help Jace! Don't worry blondie. I shall fix thou papers for you. Want to know why? Well I’ll tell you why! I am batman,” he put one fisted hand in the air and started running toward the men's bathroom like he was trying to impersonate batman. Once the door was closed I started to laugh so hard holding my stomach with my free hand.
"Nick, first of all, batman doesn't fly and second, this isn't the comics or shows or movies. Batman isn't superman,” I said slowly and he gave me a sheepish smile. I hear the sound of a guy using the bathroom and turned my head to see someone watching us while using the bathroom.
"Get out of here!" Nick said his face turning hard. He got a look like Caiden but of course it wasn't as menacing. The guy quickly left in a rush while zipping up his pants. I rolled my eyes but walked over to the dryer and pressed the button making warm air blow out. I put the papers under it and held them tight so they wouldn't blow away. Remembering the door I quickly told Nick to lock it, which he did.
“So can you read anything on the paper while it's wet?" he asked rocking on the heels of his feet.
“I probably could make out most of the words but I don't want to,” I said biting my lip.
“Why not?" he asked, coming closer to me.
“Because I'm afraid of what I’ll see,” I said honestly.
“Don't be,” he said grabbing my free hand and holding it in his.
“I'll be here for you no matter what,” he squeezed my hand and I nodded deciding to still wait until they're completely dry so I don't smear the words or rip the paper.
