Chapter 25

Read online · About 9 minutes

"Aww young love,” a lady says. She appeared to be in her sixties or seventies says.

“What?" Caiden and I both spit out, pausing our conversation and looking over at the road.

“How long have you two been together? You fight like a married couple,” the gray haired lady asked sweetly. I didn't mention how odd it was that she stopped on the side of the road where we are to say that. It was almost like it was planned.

“Do you honestly believe I would be with this slut?" he nearly growled. “In her dreams."

That son of a bitch.

“Good, honey, run while you still can. Men are awful human beings. Look at ‘em callin’ ya a slut for absolutely no reason. They act like they are some king and like we women need to bow upon their worthless selves,” she spit out and when I say spit out she literally spit right on Caiden. His jaw clenched as he kept his eyes closed and wiped off his face. Did I mention he wiped it off with my jacket?

“Good for nothing ass.” She shook her head and continued to drive slowly as if nothing just happened.

“At least someone agrees with me,” I said not even thinking and Caiden's eyes snapped to mine. His cold hazel eyes would bring me six feet under if they could.

“Wait! We need a ride please help us!" I yelled and she quickly stepped on her breaks.

“Are you trying to get us killed?" he hissed.

“She's a little old lady."

“You obviously haven't ever seen Hannibal."

“I would but you have this asshole with you so keep on walking.” She pressed on the gas and sped off making me glare at her car. Caiden chuckled a little making my eyes snapped over to see a small amused smile on his lips.

“Baby doll you have a lot to learn in life."

“Did you just call me baby doll?" I asked, still staring at the smile on his lips. We completely ignored the fact that we were just standing on the side of the road.

“Does it bother you?"

“Yes."

“Good."

“What if I told you I like it?" I tried trying to see if it would irritate him. When he continued to walk I thought I succeeded and a smug smile appeared on my face.

“Listen baby doll and listen good. You need to drop your little better than everyone attitude. No one is buying this shit personality you're pulling so you might as well just give it up already. The only thing you will ever be is a slut. So go put on a skirt and hike it up some more I’m sure someone will pick you off the streets,” I was completely speechless at what he said so seriously. He somehow managed to say that with his voice completely void of emotion as usual. He didn't even seem guilty that he just spoke so malign of me.

“How dare you! You don't even know me! You have absolutely no right to treat me how you are. I can deal with being called a slut since I've been called worse but for you to-" I cut myself off there and just shook my head. “You are despicable, Caiden."

“Trust me when I say you haven't seen the worse side of me,” he said so darkly it sent chills down my spine.

“Let's just get this gas and go back to the car,” I said before yawning. I rubbed my cold arms, the blue jean jacket I had on did nothing for me at this time of year. Caiden groaned when he glanced at my shivering figure.

“Stop wearing such slutty clothes and you wouldn't be cold right now.” He threw his brown leather jacket onto my arms but it fell on the ground.

“That's expensive," he hissed. I picked it up and threw it over my shoulder not wanting to feel the warmth of it. I knew it would have only been warm because of Caiden's body heat. After a few more minutes of walking a huge gush of cold wind blew at us and Caiden grabbed his jacket off my shoulders and slipped his arms in it. I narrowed my eyes, I thought he was going to be sweet for the first time in his life. It amazes me how we can go from fighting to being civil to arguing again.

“If you're not going to use it properly then I'm taking it back. It's not July anymore and it's freezing,” Caiden hissed, when the cold breeze came again Caiden made his face void of emotion again after taking a glance at me." You act like it's in the negatives. It's only like fifty degrees."

“I'm in a tank top underneath this light jacket. Plus the wind makes it like forty degrees,” I said pulling at my jacket.

“Like I said if you'd stop dressing like a prostitute you wouldn't be so cold,” he said, his eyes showing irritation most likely from talking to me as usual.

“I'm wearing skirt, ankle boots and a jacket! If I was dressing like some prostitute I wouldn't be wearing anything! You are the one that brings thirty girls a day to the dorm!" I said stopping on the side of the street. Looking bored he stopped with me and turned facing me and shook his head.

“I don't know if you're ignorant on purpose or if you're just really stupid,” he said.

“What do you mean?" I asked and he just shook his head, continuing to walk. My eyes landed on a building with lights and I sighed in relief when we got closer to see a few people outside of their cars pumping gas.

“I will kill Mia if she ever does this to me again,” I mumbled to myself speeding up my pace. We reached the gas station quickly and I groaned as I realized something.

“What now?" Caiden demanded.

“We still have to walk all the way back,” Caiden breathed out an irritated sigh and nodded.

“I'll handle it."

"How exactly will you handle it?" A fierce glare was sent my way and I shut my mouth taking the hint. He paid with the money he took from Mia's purse which he took since it's her car. After pumping the gas in the gas can Caiden started to look around the gas station.

"Hey!" Caiden yelled walking up to the two guys on their motorcycles.

“And you were talking to me about trying to get us killed," I hissed and Caiden just waved me off.

“Yes?" A guy that was probably fourth said his arms crossed over his chest giving us a fierce look that didn't seem to bother Caiden at all.

“Want to give us a ride?" Caiden said his eyes blank of emotion.

“Where do you need to go?"

"Just down the road. Our car is out of gas.” He lifted up the full tank and shook it around to prove his point.

“Sure we'll take you."

“The girl will ride with me,” the other guy pitched in. To make this easier I’ll call him bandana since he's wearing a bandana and the other guy leather since he was wearing a leather jacket.

Caiden went to hop on leathers motorcycle but I stopped him putting my hand on his shoulder,” I'm trusting you,” I whispered in Caiden's ear. He didn't hide his surprise and simply nodded.

“I'm warning you now if you touch her in any way that she's not comfortable with I will cut your fingers off and your dick,” he hissed menacingly. Bandana got on the motorcycle ignoring the threat and patted the seat behind him smirking at me. I got on slept my hands on my lap not bothering to hold on to some stranger.

My mother would kill me right now.

Not before my dad.

I didn’t even want to think of that.

The engines started up and quickly sped off toward the car. Bandana decided to start conversation and said,

“Your boyfriend seems a little possessive."

“He's not my boyfriend,” I reply curtly.

“Are you single then?"

“No, my boyfriend is back at the car,” I responded, keeping an eye out for Mia's car. Bandana drove faster so he was driving next to Leather. I'm pretty sure it was illegal but they didn't seem to care.

“Well I don't know the guy you're dating, but you and blonde seem like a good match,” he yelled over the wind. Caiden's eyes snapped over to mine to see my reaction or to maybe mentally call me a slut, I wasn't sure but what I did know for a fact was that the car was coming close.

“He would never date a slut like me,” I answered for him which seemed to amuse Caiden. For most people, they wouldn’t joke about such a thing and would get offended. Me, on the other hand, I have a best friend who I joke back and forth with, calling each other hoes. Caiden’s killed any sense of meaning to the word, I just need to wait until I could read the underlying message with it.

“Not even in my after life," Caiden yelled, trying to hold back a smile. I was starting to think he did drink by all the smiles he was flashing. Although it was only two the first was genuine and unintentional but this second one was almost automatic. Was there actually a heart underneath that cold exterior? I guess the world would never know. But I knew for a fact I’d find out somehow. Did he flash smiles around just his friends? Did he joke around? No, I could answer that one easily. Caiden didn't seem like the type to ever make jokes.

“For some reason I don't believe that,” Leather yelled and Bandana nodded in agreement.

“It seems like the girl wouldn't mind dating you. After all she never disagreed about you two being a good match," Bandana said as they both pulled over so they were right in front of the car. Shutting off the bikes I let out a small laugh.

“Nah I would never date him. He has too much baggage,” I responded truthfully and Caiden immediately responded by putting up a facade expression. I wouldn't lie over that after all it was the truth. He hides himself behind a cold exterior and just by that I could see he has plenty of baggage.

“That's a part of the job description. It's your job as his girl to help him take some of that baggage off,” Bandana retorted.

“You can stop talking about me like I'm not here,” Caiden said curtly getting off the bike. I followed his action and watched a he went over and unscrewed the gasp caps and started to fill up the car with gas. Tom walked out of the car and stretched his arms above his head.
