Love Over Everything — Chapter 36

Naomi, Christopher, and Tyler spent their Saturday in Naomi’s home; They decided not to go out so they stayed in and spent the whole day together.

They ate, cuddled, went for a swim, watched movies and played hide and seek. It was a fun-filled Saturday for the three of them. At night, Tyler insisted he wanted to sleep with his parents and they let him take the middle space on Naomi’s bed.

The enjoyment came to an end all too soon as It was a Sunday afternoon and Christopher had to return to Miami but Tyler wasn’t making things easy as he kept on crying, not wanting his father to leave him and his mom.

“I don’t like to see you cry, Ty. Daddy will be back in four days.” He persuaded, hoping he would stop crying.

Christopher was tempted to stay back but he couldn’t because he had to finish some office work he abandoned, he had to figure out what to do so he could spend more time with Naomi and Tyler, and he had to see Zoe.

“Don’t go, Daddy.” He said as another tear rolled down his cheeks. The more Naomi wiped his tears, the more they kept on falling.

“Ty, my love, Daddy has to go finish up some work, he will be back by Thursday. It’s not far anymore.”

“But I don’t want Daddy to go.” He sobbed in Christopher’s chest.

“I promise to call your mom everyday buddy, we will talk from time to time.”

“No!” He hiccuped.

Naomi and Christopher exchanged a sad smile.

“Ty baby, Daddy has to go so he will get your birthday present.” Naomi said.

“I don’t want no present, I want Daddy to stay”

Christopher kissed his forehead. “Daddy can’t stay because Daddy has to bring Zoe to your party.”

He stopped crying and looked into Christopher’s eyes. “You will bring Zowi?” He asked and Christopher nodded.

“Four more nights of sleep and Daddy will be back with Zowi” Christopher assured.

“Can Daddy go now buddy?. The pilot will be mad at him if he doesn’t show up anytime from now.” Naomi said.

Tyler looked down at his hands and whispered. “But I will miss Daddy.”

“I’ll miss you too, buddy. I promise to call you from time to time and we can talk all you want.” He said and Tyler nodded.

Naomi collected Tyler from Chris, they rose to their feet and walked towards the door where his luggage was waiting for him.

He couldn’t hug Naomi fully because she was holding Tyler so he gave her a half hug, kissed her passionately and then kissed her forehead.

“I’ll be thinking about you two.”

Naomi smiled, “Same here, Take care and call me when you land.”

“I will.”

“Ty, make sure you take care of mommy okay?” Chris said and Tyler nodded.

“I love you Son.” He placed a long kiss on his forehead.

“I love you too.” He said to Naomi, stole a kiss from her and hurried out with his luggage into the taxi.

As soon as he got on the jet, he turned on his laptop and buried himself with work; four hours later, they were in Miami, Florida.

Chris took out his phone, texted Naomi to let her know he landed safely and that he would give her a call when he got settled.

He told his father’s driver who picked him up to head straight to his parents’ mansion instead of his. He couldn’t wait to tell his parents about Tyler and couldn’t wait to see Zoe too. It was already late so they might have put her to bed.

“Welcome, Chris.” Gerald, the butler greeted him.

“Hi, Gee!” He replied to the old man who has been working for his father since he was little.

“I hope you had a good trip?” He asked.

Christopher smiled. “Better than you can ever imagine. Where are my parents?”

“Your father is in the study and your mom should be somewhere in the house.”

“Thanks.” He said to Gerald, then proceeded to his father’s study. He met his father going through some documents.

“See who is glowing with so much happiness” Julius teased. No doubt his visit to Naomi did him good.

“Hi, dad.” He hugged his Dad.

“So I guess everything went well?” Julius asked.

Before Chris could reply, they were interrupted by little miss Zowie.

“Daddy!” She screamed and then ran towards him and hugged him tightly.

Christopher picked her up and showered her face with kisses which made her giggle.

“I missed you, Daddy.”

“I missed you too, Princess. I hope you’ve been a good girl to grandma and grandpa.”

“Yes, Daddy.”

“Oops.” Christopher chuckled. “Your hair is wet.” He said as he removed some strands from her face.

“I was about to dry her hair when Gerald informed me you were back and she ran off," Sarah said as she walked in.

Zoe grinned. “Sorry Grandma, I miss Daddy that’s why.”

“We all miss your Daddy.” She walked towards Chris and kissed his cheek.

“So guess what Zoe?”

She smiled, “You brought me a present?”

He chuckled, “Not really.”

“Then what is it?” She asked.

“We are going to California on Thursday and you have a birthday party to attend on Saturday.”

“Birthday party?” She grinned, Zoe loves birthdays.

“Yes, princess.”

“I’m excited Daddy but who is the birthday girl or boy?”

“Hmmm, you will know the person when we get to California. The person will be four years old, just like you.” He said to her and she nodded. Chris decided not to spill anything about Tyler to Zoe and make it a surprise instead.

“Can I wear my princess dress for the party?” She pouted.

“It’s a superhero theme party. I don’t think you have a superhero costume but don’t worry, you and I will go shopping to get you the costume.”

“Okay, Daddy.”

Melony, Zoe’s nanny appeared at the entrance of the library. “Come on Zoe, let’s get your hair dried and get you to bed.”

“I want to stay with my Daddy. I want him to read me a bedtime story.” She whined.

“Sweetheart, it's way past your bedtime. Daddy has to discuss with Grandma and Grandpa. I’ll come straight to your room to read you a story once we are done.”

“Promise Daddy.”

“I promise sweetheart.” He assured and kissed her forehead before handing her over to Melony.

“So I guess Tyler is the one celebrating his birthday?” Julius asked.

“Yes, Dad.”

“So how did everything go? The three of you are good now, right?” Sarah asked excitedly.

Chris smiled, “Yes mom, we are good!”

“We couldn’t stay mad at each other for so long especially when Tyler was involved. Hearing her side of the story made me understand why she didn’t have enough courage to tell me about our son. Naomi went through a lot and I’m proud of how she raised Tyler.”

Christopher smiled, “Spending the weekend with them was definitely one of my favourite moments in life. Tyler didn’t want me to leave this morning; He kept on crying, telling me to stay.”

“Awww, he’s so sweet.” Sarah chipped in.

“He, Zoe and Naomi are the best things that have ever happened to me. They are my life and I plan to make us work.” Christopher said. He felt more motivated than ever.

“You deserve to be happy with your family, son. We are here to support you in whatever decision you make.” Sarah said.

“Yes, son. You’ve always wanted us to set up a branch in California, I think we will start working on that so you will head the office over there and your sister will manage things here with my help and your mother’s help. And if the workload is too much for us, we will hire someone but you will remain the CEO.”

“Thank you, Dad, I really appreciate it, ” Chris smiled.

Julius was overwhelmed, he had waited for long to see Christopher act responsible, that is, to get married and start a family but his playboy ways didn’t do any help and then it was followed by Vivian’s drama. After his breakup with her, he buried himself with work and only had time for Zoe. Julius was happy to see this side of him. His son definitely deserves all the happiness in the world.

“So, you and Naomi?” Sarah teased, wanting to hear every loving detail that happened.

“Mom.” Christopher groaned.

“I think I have a right to know because I’m your Mom.” She teased.

“Naomi and I are good, I think the chemistry between us is more than it used to be. I lost her once and I don’t plan on losing her again.”

“She’s sorry for hiding your grandson from you guys. Her parents now know I’m Tyler’s father. She was hoping you guys will show up for Tyler’s party on Saturday.”

Sarah looked at Julius, “Do we have anything planned for Saturday?”

“I think we do. We are to leave for China on Friday for our visit with Mrs Chu.”

“I thought it was next week.” Sarah frowned.

“It’s fine if you two can’t make it. You will definitely see Ty and Naomi another time and there are still lots of birthdays to celebrate together.” Chris said.

Sarah looked at her husband with puppy eyes. “Can’t we postpone the trip?”

“You know how hard it was to schedule this meeting with Mrs Chu, it will take a while to see her again if we cancel this appointment.”

“It’s fine mom. Naomi and Tyler will understand.”

“Okay, Julius and I will give you a present for him and make sure you skype us so we can wish him a happy birthday.”

When Chris was done making conversations with his parents, he proceeded to Zoe’s room and the little girl was fast asleep. He kissed her forehead and then took a seat beside her. He caressed her hands and watched her sleep for a few minutes.

Then he brought out his phone from his pocket and dialled Naomi; she picked up immediately.

“Heyy, ” He whispered to the other side.

“We miss you, ” Naomi said.

“I miss you guys more, I can’t wait for Thursday to come so you, Ty, Zoe and I will be together.”

“Me too.”

“How’s Tyler?” He asked, “He’s fine and fast asleep beside me. I had to bribe him with cookies to cheer him up after you left. How is Zoe?”

“She’s fine too. She’s asleep already. I told her we have a birthday to attend and we would be in California by Thursday but I didn’t tell her whose birthday it is.”

Naomi chuckled. “Why?”

“She will be so hyper and probably won’t sleep till Thursday. Besides, I want it to be a surprise for her.”

“I can’t wait to meet her too."

"Linda and Luis came over not long after you left, they stayed for five hours before they took their leave. Tyler had lots of fun with them which is why he slept early tonight."

“I hope Luis and I can be friends now.” He said.

“I reminded him today that he owes you an apology.”

“Really?” Chris said.

“Yes, I did and he promised to apologize when he sees you which will probably be at Tyler's party. Luis is my only sibling and I want you guys to get along.”

“I’m sure we will. Spending the weekend with you and our son has been one of the best moments of my life, I love you, Naomi.”

Naomi was blushing on the other side, she was happy he couldn’t see her, if not she would die of embarrassment.

“I can imagine you blushing really hard right now.” He smiled.

“No, I’m not.” She denied.

He chuckled, “You sure?”

“Okay, maybe a little. It’s your fault, not mine, you make me feel things I’ve not felt before and everything about you makes me go crazy.”

Christopher smiled, “Just what I wanted to hear, my love. I’m happy you feel that way about me because I feel the same way about you and even more.”
