Chapter 12
Read online · About 8 minutesNaomi had the best sleep she has ever had in awhile. With Ryan’s hand around her waist, she felt like she belonged to him, She felt like home.
Naomi slowly opened her eyes, she panicked as soon as she noticed she was the only one on the bed; Ryan was nowhere to be found beside her.
She felt at ease as soon as she sighted a note with a rose on top, placed on her nightstand. She wrapped the white blanket around her naked body and reached for the note and rose.
“You looked so peaceful while sleeping and I couldn’t bring myself to wake you up. I’m in the kitchen making breakfast, freshen up and come quickly. I can’t wait for you to taste my pancakes.” Naomi smiled as she read the note.
She brought the rose to her nose and inhaled it. She smiled as she wondered where he got the single red rose. She chuckled at the thought of him sneaking into her neighbour’s garden to pluck one of Mrs Jones’ roses.
Naomi proceeded to the bathroom to go take a shower. She could feel her inside tingle as she walked, it was as if she could still feel Ryan in her. She was a little bit sore but in a good way. They found it so hard to keep their hands off each other and as a result of that they ended up going for two more rounds before daybreak.
Naomi took a quick shower, dried herself and changed into a short and tank top. She pulled her hair into a messy bun, changed the bedspread and walked out of her room.
She found Ryan in the dining room; shirtless, setting up the table. She took slow steps towards him and wrapped her arms around his torso. Ryan smiled as soon as her body made contact with his. He turned to face her, wrapped his arms around her waist and gave her a passionate kiss.
“Good morning, love.” He said between kisses.
“Good morning.” She replied.
“I hope you slept well?” She nodded. Even though she was still feeling a bit tired, she was more excited about spending the day with him.
“They look so yummy.” Naomi pointed to the food on the dining table. There was pancakes, bread, eggs, bacon, sausages and orange juice.
“Yes, they are.” Ryan grinned. “Specially made for you.”
He took a seat and made her sit on his lap. They both fed each other and made conversations in between.
“I can’t believe I ate that much” Naomi exclaimed as she wiped her hands with a napkin. She and Ryan just finished doing the dishes.
“I guess breakfast was so delicious that’s why.” Ryan winked at her before taking a seat on the sofa.
“Maybe. Thanks for the food, I enjoyed it.” She gave him a quick kiss on his lips and sat beside him.”
“Anything for you, babe.” He kissed her cheek in return.
“But seriously Ryan, have I added weight?” She looked at him with pleading eyes, begging him to tell the truth.
“No, you haven’t.”
“Are you sure? Or you’re just trying to make me feel better. Did you notice anything different since the last time you saw me?”
“In your physical appearance, No. Except for the fact that you look more beautiful.” He replied and she sighed in relief.
“I don’t know, I noticed my appetite has increased and I tend to crave sweet things which I’m not usually a fan of. I thought I might need to go back to working out.”
“No need for that, I like you the way you are.” He assured.
“So what do you think we should do today?” he asked her.
“What do you have in mind?” She asked him.
“Nothing in particular. I’m not used to this city so I can’t tell if there will be any exciting place for us to go to” he said.
“Okay, in as much as I just want to cuddle with you all day, I think I have an idea of where we can go. I will show you a few places and maybe you’ll get to see my fashion house.”
“Not bad, I’m in for it.” He smiled.
When it was almost noon, Naomi and Ryan changed into casual clothes and made their way out of her apartment. Ryan managed to convince Naomi to let him drive and she allowed him, giving him directions where necessary.
Their first stop was to a popular Gallery and after that, they went to the mall because Naomi needed a few things. Despite her disapproval, Ryan paid for everything.
Then they went to a restaurant to feed themselves for lunch which obviously Ryan paid for. Naomi knew the restaurant was an expensive one so she decided to split the bill with Ryan but he denied, bearing the whole cost. She was tired of fighting with him over who to pay so she let him.
As soon as they left the restaurant, She took him to her fashion house which was almost completed by the way. They met some workers who were painting and some were decorating the already painted and dried area. Ryan was impressed with what he saw. She showed him around and He listened to her as she talked about her dreams and things she wanted to accomplish before she turned 30. He was so damn proud of her and was sure she was going to take the fashion industry to the next level. Naomi was already a popular model and she had collaborated with a lot of fashion brands, so no doubt her fashion empire will be nothing but successful.
They left the fashion house and made their way to a nearby park. They bought ice cream, sat on a bench, engaged in a conversation as they devoured their ice cream.
After that, they decided to walk around the park and take pictures.
Ryan sighted two little children arguing beside the playground so he took Naomi’s hand in his and they approached the little children who should not be more than five years old.
Ryan freed Naomi’s hand and crouched towards the two little cuties.
“Hi,” Ryan said to them and the two children turned to look at him. The girl whose hair was in a ponytail had tears rolling down her cheeks and the boy whose blonde hair was messy frowned at Ryan.
“What is the matter, sweethearts?” Ryan persuaded them to talk.
“Joshua is being mean.” The little girl said as another tear rolled down her cheek.
“I’m not being mean, I said I don’t want to play with you.” The boy said.
Ryan sensed the boy was older than the girl so he asked, “How old are you, Joshua?”
“I’m five.” He mumbled with his head down.
“Is she your sister?” He asked him again. Joshua did not need to raise his head up. He knew Ryan was talking about his sister, Julia, so he nodded.
“Why don’t you want to play with her?” He asked and Joshua went mute.
Ryan turned to the girl and asked: “What’s your name?”
“Julia.” She replied sniffing.
“How old are you?” He asked.
“I’m four.” She replied raising four fingers.
Then he turned his attention to Joshua. He raised Joshua’s chin with his right hand to make the little boy look at him. “You shouldn’t be mean to your sister buddy, She wants to play with you so you should be a good big brother and play with her. She looks up to you which means you should always be there to protect her, make her happy and not make her sad.”
“Do you promise not to make her cry anymore?” Ryan asked Joshua who nodded.
“So what do you say to Julia?”
Joshua turned to Julia and said, “I’m sorry Julia.”
Ryan took out a handkerchief from his pocket and handed it to Joshua. Joshua collected it and used it to clean his sister’s face after which he pulled her into a hug and then kissed her left cheek.
Ryan gave the children a ‘Hi-five’ before they ran off to the playground to play together.
Ryan stood up and saw Naomi three steps away with a woman who should be in her late twenties. The woman had a pram beside her with a toddler settled in it.
She approached Ryan “I don’t know how you did that but thanks for settling their dispute. They are used to fighting one another since I gave birth to Gracie.” She pointed to the almost one-year-old in the pram who gave Ryan a toothy grin.
Ryan smiled at the little girl, he squatted and caressed her chubby cheeks which made her giggle.
“I see you’re good with kids.” The lady smiled. “I’m Jessica by the way.” She extended her free hand.
“Ryan.” He shook her hand. “I’m pleased to have been of help. I spoke to Joshua and I made him realize his younger sister looks up to him so he should always protect her and not make her cry.”
Jessica chuckled, “Joshua has always been the jealous one. He wanted a baby boy but I gave birth to Gracie which makes him mad at times. He wanted a boy to play with and he often transfers the anger on Julia.”
“But thanks for your help, I’m grateful.” She said to Ryan who nodded in reply and then she took her leave.
Naomi took close steps to Ryan, intertwined her right hand with his left one and then kissed him on his cheek.
“I’m so proud of you, babe.” She smiled. “You were so natural with them. I have no doubt you will be an amazing father one day.” She said with so much confidence.
Ryan stopped in his tracks, looked at her and said, “I hope so.”
Naomi could feel some sort of sadness in his voice so she asked him as they walked towards her car.
“Or you don’t plan on having kids?”
“I do want to have kids, about four of them and it would be magical if I have them with you.” He said to her, which made her blush like crazy. He chuckled when he noticed she was trying to hide her blush.
“Or don’t you wanna have kids too?” He teased.
“I haven’t really thought about it but I definitely want kids. I mean not right now but sometime in the future.”
As Ryan drove back to her apartment, he couldn’t help but worry about Naomi’s reaction when he told her about Vivian and the baby. He was planning on telling her about them either tonight or the next morning. But he was scared as hell, scared that she wouldn’t want anything to do with him after she learns the truth.
