Love Over Everything — Chapter 34

Christopher went to Tyler’s room to wake him up on Naomi’s instruction. If they allowed him to sleep more, it would be difficult for him to go to bed on time at night.

“Hey buddy, Tyler....” Christopher tried to wake him up.

Tyler groaned before opening his eyes. He smiled tiredly as soon as he saw his father.

“You’re still here Daddy.”

“Yes, love. I promised you I would be here when you wake up. Are you hungry?” he asked him.

“A little.”

“Mama is making lunch, let’s go join her in the kitchen.”

Tyler was still booting from his nap so Chris had to carry him in his arms as he made his way to go join Naomi.

Naomi was setting up the table for lunch. She approached Chris who had Tyler in his arms and kissed Tyler.

“You okay, Ty?” She asked him and he nodded against Christopher’s shoulder.

Chris chuckled, ” He’s still tired, I think we disturbed his nap.”

“If we don’t wake him up now, he won’t go to bed early at night.”

They had lunch and made conversations in between. The conversation was more friendly than it was when they had breakfast.

They cleaned up and went to get ready for their evening outing.

Chris told Naomi to go get ready while he dressed up for Tyler. He changed Tyler’s outfit to a casual one, buckled his shoes and led him out of his room.

“Where are we going, Daddy?” Tyler asked.

“We are going to meet your mom’s friend who is helping us plan your party.”

“Aunt Maddie's place.” He smiled.

“I guess so, ” Christopher replied since Naomi did not tell him the name of her friend.

“I like Aunty Maddie, she’s very nice; she gives me cookies and milk whenever I visit.”

They got to the living room where Naomi was waiting for them, though she was on a phone call.

She was still in her jeans and top from this morning. She only changed her footwear and brushed her hair. She was effortlessly beautiful.

As soon as she noticed Tyler and Chris were ready, she ended her call and approached them. She squatted towards Tyler. “You’re looking handsome, my love.”

He grinned, “Daddy dressed me up.” She kissed his cheek and rose to her feet.

“I was talking to my mom on the phone.” Chris nodded, encouraging her to continue.

“She wants me to come over after my visit to Maddie.” She said nervously.

“If you don’t want me to come with you it’s fine.”

“No, no, I want you to come with us. I’m just nervous because I don’t know how they would react. You know, this is the first time the topic relating to Tyler’s father will come up.”

“It will be fine, I’ll be there to support you and Tyler.”

Naomi smiled, “Thank you.” She gave him a kiss on his lips which made Tyler giggle. Naomi blushed as she looked everywhere except Tyler and Chris, she got carried away and had forgotten Tyler was there.

Christopher chuckled at her reaction before guiding Tyler out of the house into her car.

He placed Tyler in the car seat and buckled him up.

Naomi was about to get into the driver’s seat when he stopped her.

“You know you don’t have to be shy about that right?” He smirked.

“I’m not shy. Honestly, I forgot Tyler was there with us.”

“So I guess my presence makes you forget everything else.” He teased.

“Not really, I was just caught up in the moment.”

He cupped her face in his hands. “I’m sure Tyler doesn’t have any problem with that. We are in love and there is nothing bad in expressing it in front of him. We just have to not get carried away about it whenever he’s around us.” he said and she nodded.

Tyler had never seen her do something like that, he had never seen her kiss the opposite sex, except placing a kiss on her father or brother’s cheek so she didn’t know how to feel about it.

Christopher kissed her before releasing her from his hold.

“How about I drive and you relax in the passenger’s seat?”

“Are you sure about that?” She asked. He nodded.

She gave him her car keys before going over to the passenger’s seat.

“So I was thinking, ” He said as he started the car. “Can we stop by the hotel, I have to pick up a few things.”

“Yes, sure.... I mean you can check out if you want to; Tyler and I will appreciate it if you stay at the house with us. We want to spend as much time with you as we can before you return.”

Christopher smiled, “Okay ma’am, your wish is my command.”

“Daddy?” Tyler called from the back seat.

“Yes, buddy.” He replied.

“Do you love mommy?”

“Ty.....” Naomi groaned while Chris took a glance at her, chuckled, before turning his attention back to the road.

“Yes I do, I love your mommy very much.” He winked at Naomi whose face was as red as a tomato.

Tyler giggled, “What about you mommy? Do you love my Daddy?”

“Tyler, your IPad is beside you, you can put it on and watch some cartoons, ” Naomi said.

“Don’t change the topic, my lady, we are eager to hear your reply. Do you love me?” Chris asked.

“Yes mommy, do you love Daddy?” Tyler chipped in.

Christopher knew that Naomi loves him as much as he loves her. The thing is that they’ve not confessed it to one another. He had been wanting to do it even before they separated but he was afraid he was going to scare her away.

Hearing Tyler ask the question and seeing Naomi being so shy about it was very cute. She was looking like someone that was going to pass out from embarrassment.

“Yes Ty, I’m in love with your Dad.” She whispered, looking down at her hands.

Christopher did a happy dance in his head, hearing her say those words made him feel whole. Then he promised himself to start confessing his love for her every day so she would get used to it because he was planning to ask her to marry him.

“Good. That means Mommy and Daddy are free to kiss anytime.” The little boy giggled.

“Tyler...” Naomi groaned shyly. She didn’t know how Tyler was able to grab the concept of love and kiss between two adults.

Christopher chuckled, reached for Naomi’s hand and gave it a light kiss.

They made their first stop at the hotel, They all went in with Chris to get his things. He took a quick shower, changed into casual clothes, parked all his belongings and checked out.

They got back to the car and headed to the restaurant.

“Aunt Maddie, ” Tyler ran to hug the lady who was almost the same age as Naomi.

“My love, ” She squatted towards him and hugged him.

“Are you excited to try the cake samples I made?”

“Yes!!!” he yelled in excitement.

Maddie stood to her feet and noticed her friend, Naomi standing beside a man. She saw the resemblance between him and Tyler so she concluded he was Tyler’s father.

Tyler ran to his father’s side. “Aunt Maddie, meet my Daddy. Daddy, aunt Maddie makes the best cakes ever.”

He smiled then stretched out his hand to Maddie. “Nice to meet you.”

“Same here.” She returned his shake.

Maddie could tell he was a Billionaire. She could feel it, smell it and see it on him.

She hugged Naomi and whispered in her ear. “You never told me he was this hot.” Naomi blushed.

“Chris, Maddie is my close friend. She, Linda and I went to the same high school.” She introduced and Chris nodded.

Maddie ushered them to a private area in the kitchen, they all sat on a round table.

Maddie passed her IPad to Tyler, “I want you to check out these decorations and let me know the one you like best okay?” He nodded and collected the pad.

In their last meeting, Tyler opted for a superhero-themed party. So Maddie wanted him to pick the decorations he liked, both for the event and the cake.

She turned to Naomi and Chris, “I’ll go get the cake samples, They nodded and she excused herself.

“He seems pretty excited.” He said to Naomi as they both watched Tyler whose eyes were glued to the tab, having conversations with himself about which design was best.

Naomi smiled, “He is always excited about his birthdays. And I’m sure he’s looking forward to this because you and Zoe will be there.”

“I like this one.” Tyler passed the tab to his parents so they could see what he wanted.

Christopher smiled, “Our son truly has a great taste.”

“I think it’s ridiculous, we can go for something less, ” Naomi replied.

The picture Tyler showed them was a superhero three-tier cake with almost 24 cupcakes by its side.

“His guests are not even up to 50. Who will finish these? There will still be cookies, chocolates, sweets, popcorn, jelly and the others.” Naomi said to Christopher.

Tyler already put up a puppy dog face.

“Please let’s get it for him.” Chris pleaded.

“Chris.” Naomi groaned.

Christopher leaned closer to Naomi, he kissed her on her lips then looked into her eyes.

“It’s the first time I’ll experience him celebrate his birthday and I want it to be perfect. I’ll pay for all of it if you want.”

“It’s not about the money, Chris but I’ll allow it if you want it. My mom and Laura bring him a cake every time we celebrate his birthday and I end up having cake leftovers after the party and when Tyler sees cakes in the fridge he wouldn’t want to eat anything else except the cake.”

Christopher nodded in understanding. “I’ll make sure everyone eats as much cake as they can so there won’t be excess leftovers.”

“Fine, we can get the cake.” She said which made Ty do a happy dance where he was seated.

“And I’ll pay for everything.” He whispered to her.

“Can we talk about this when we get home?” She asked and he nodded.

Soon enough Maddie came with samples of the food, cake, punch, and popcorn. The trio tasted them and went for the ones Tyler chose.
