Love Over Everything — Chapter 32

Naomi woke up and was surprised to find herself on the couch with a blanket over her. The last thing she remembered was falling asleep on the floor beside the sofa.

She smiled, Christopher must have carried her. She concluded that he still cared for her and that gave her hope that he might still feel something for her.

She stood up from the sofa and arranged the cushion pillows on it. Before heading to her room, she decided to check on her boys. She gently opened the door and her heart melted at what she saw; the most beautiful thing she had seen in awhile.

Christopher managed to squeeze himself on Tyler’s bed; Tyler’s head was on his father’s chest and Christopher had his arms wrapped around him.

Naomi smiled and gently shut the door. She wondered if Tyler was already aware of his father’s presence.

She went to her room, took a shower and changed into a pair of jeans and a top. Then she left for the kitchen to make breakfast for three.

Christopher felt someone showering his face with kisses. He thought he was dreaming so he did not bother to open his eyes, he was enjoying the kisses anyway. Then suddenly he heard someone giggle, he slowly opened his eyes and the first thing he saw was a pair of beautiful blue eyes staring at him.

As soon as Christopher sat up, Tyler hugged him. “I’m happy to meet you, Daddy.” He whispered.

Christopher’s heart melted, hearing Ty calling him Daddy was the most beautiful word he has heard in a while.

He made Tyler sit on his lap and then shower his face with kisses which made him smile.

Chris removed some strand of hair away from his face. “Tyler, I’m sorry for not being there for you all these while but that will change from now on because I plan on spending time with you as much as I can. I love you son.”

“I love you too, Daddy.” He hugged Chris.

“Does your tummy still hurt?” He asked.

Tyler frowned then placed his hand on his belly, the little boy probably did not remember having a stomach ache. All pain went away as soon as he woke up and saw his Dad beside him.

“My stomach doesn’t hurt anymore.” He smiled.

“Good. Your mom was worried, She said you wouldn’t stop crying.”

“I cried because I don’t like being sick or taking medicine”

Chris chuckled, he had the smiths’ genes in him. They hated falling sick and despised anything that had to do with the hospital.

“I’m glad you’re feeling better.”

Tyler asked with one of his puppy dog eyes, “Will you stay with me forever Daddy? Please? I want you to take me to school and read me bedtime stories.”

“I will stay with you forever buddy but Daddy will have to travel from time to time to do some work. But don’t worry I’ll always make time for you.”

He nodded.

“Mommy said I have a sister. Did she come too?”

Christopher smiled. He was grateful Naomi informed Tyler about Zoe. Even though his children were from different mothers, he wanted them to get along and probably have a good sibling relationship like him and his sister, Susan.

“No, I didn’t come with her but she’s fine and I’m sure she will love to meet you.”

“You want to see her picture?” He asked and Tyler replied with a nod.

He reached for his phone on Tyler’s nightstand and that was when he noticed a frame. Inside the frame was a picture of him and Naomi.

“Mama said I can keep the picture.” Tyler smiled at his father who can’t seem to take his eyes off the frame.

Then an idea came to Tyler, “we have to take another picture Daddy. Me, you and mommy so I will place it next to this.”

Christopher smiled, “No problem buddy. I’ll talk to your mom about it.”

He unlocked his phone and showed Tyler pictures of a familiar little girl.

“That’s Zowi? The smile on his face was priceless. How did you know my friend, Zowi?”

Chris asked, surprised “You know Zoe?”

He nodded, “Yes Daddy, Zoe is my friend. I miss her so much. We went to the same camp.”

Tears welled up in Christopher’s eyes as the realization hit him. His son was the “Ty Ty” Zoe could not stop talking about. The two siblings have met without them knowing they were truly related. He couldn’t wait to see the priceless reaction on Zoe’s face when he told her Tyler was her brother and just like he promised, he was Tyler’s father. (JACKPOT)

“Zoe is your sister and she misses you too, buddy.”

“Zowi is my sissy?” He asked, almost getting emotional.

“Yes, my love. She misses you and talks about you most of the time.”

“Can Zowi come to my birthday party? Please?, I want her to meet my mommy too.”

“Yes, I’ll make sure she attends your party.”

“Thank you, Daddy.” He smiled.

“I want to show you my new toys. Come and have a look Daddy.” Tyler got down from his bed and ran into his walk-in playroom.

Christopher chuckled and followed his son knowing it was going to be a long day.

Before Naomi started making breakfast, her phone rang, it was Linda so she answered it.

“Hi, ” She said to the other side.

“Have you been crying?” Linda asked from the way Naomi’s voice sounded.

“Yes, He showed up yesterday.”

“Who?” Linda asked, confused.

“Christopher.”

It was silent for a while then Linda spoke: “Ar...are you serious?”

“I am, Linda.”

“Are you okay? I mean how are you guys holding up?”

“I only feel relieved because he knows about Tyler. But he’s really mad at me and it hurts.” Naomi whispered, holding back her tears.

“It’s normal for him to feel that way Naomi; I’m sure he’s mad at himself too. Just give him time to heal. Promise me you won’t give up on him this time around, promise me you’ll fight for him with all you’ve got.”

“I don’t know Linda. What if he doesn’t feel the same way about me anymore.”

“You don’t know that and until he tells you he’s no longer in love with you, then don’t stop fighting for him.”

Naomi sighed. “I will try. We will talk later, I have to make breakfast for my boys. My regards to Luis.”

“Hmmm, your boys, I like the sound of that. Take care hun, we will talk later.”

Naomi set up a table for three. She was about to go check on Tyler and Chris when she heard giggling noises from the hallway. Soon enough, Tyler and Chris appeared before her. Chris had Tyler on his neck. He gestured for Chris to put him down and he did.

Tyler walked up to his mom and greeted her. “Good morning, mama.”

She crouched down before him and kissed his forehead.

“Morning, my love. Did you sleep well?” He replied with a nod.

She felt his temperature with the back of her palm, his body was warm which was a relief to her. “Does your tummy still hurt?” She placed her hand on his belly.

“No mommy, I’m fine.”

“Daddy took my bath for me and I washed my teeth myself.” He said proudly.

She smiled at him. As soon as she sighted him, she could tell he had taken his bath because he was in his fresh clothes and she could smell his body wash on him.

She stood to her feet and her eyes connected with Christopher’s own for the first time that morning.

“Good morning.” She greeted him, not sure of how he was going to react.

He had a cold look on his face and he just nodded to her greetings.

“I made breakfast.” She gestured towards the dining table.

“No, thanks I’m not hungry.” Naomi masked her hurt with a sad smile. She could tell he was hungry but didn’t want to eat the food she made because he was mad at her.

She squatted towards Tyler. “Ty, can you beg Daddy to join us for breakfast?, Mama spent extra time making delicious breakfast for us all.” She could feel Christopher’s eyes boring holes into her body but she ignored them. She Knew Chris would never refuse Tyler and she would continue to use Tyler to persuade him until he makes peace with her.

“Okay, mama.” He walked towards Christopher

“Mama made us a delicious breakfast. Can you join us Daddy?, Please?” Tyler pleaded with his puppy dog face, for a second, Ty looked like he was going to cry if Chris refused.

Christopher sighed, “Okay buddy, I’ll join you.”

Naomi ignored Christopher’s glare and gave Tyler a high five.

She ushered the boys to the dining table. Chris pulled out a chair for Tyler and placed him on the chair. He took a seat beside him and Naomi said a short prayer.

They sat on the smaller dining table. Tyler was in between his Mom and Dad. Naomi made eggs, bacon, sausages, pancakes, bread, orange juice, and coffee. She made the coffee the way she remembered Christopher prefered it and she hoped he liked it.

Christopher fed Tyler some pancakes before asking him a question. “Zoe said you don’t like to eat your food. Is that true?”

“Zoe?” Naomi asked, looking lost.

Tyler quickly chewed his pancake, reached for his sippy cup which had orange juice in it, drank a little and then broke the news to his mom.

“Zowi is my Sister. I told Daddy to invite her to my birthday party.”

Naomi was speechless, she looked at Christopher. Chris continued to feed Tyler as he spoke.

“I showed him Zoe’s picture and he recognized her as his Zowi. No day has passed without Zoe mentioning how much she misses her Ty Ty.”

“Since Tyler came back from the camp, Zoe was all he talked about.” She whispered, trying to process the fact that Tyler had met his sister without even knowing it and they love each other already.

“Do you want to be strong like Daddy when you grow up?” Tyler nodded with a mouth full of pancakes.

“Then you must always eat your food, okay?”

Tyler frowned “But I don’t like food. I like bread, cereal, and snacks. I don’t like vegbles.”

“Vegetables.” Naomi corrected. Sometimes he pronounced it well and other times, he forgets how to.

“Tyler, if you want to be strong like Daddy you have to eat your food and mostly your vegetables.”

He took a glance at Naomi then turned his attention to his son “Your mom’s vegetable is the best I’ve ever tasted; make sure you eat them often okay? Do you promise Daddy to always eat your food?”

“I promise Daddy.” Christopher kissed his cheek and continued feeding him.

Naomi had a sad smile on her face, her stomach flipped when he gave her credit for the vegetables. Besides that, watching Christopher feed Tyler and engage in conversations with him was priceless. She couldn’t be happier that they were getting along.

Christopher had only taken a few bites of his food because he was focused on feeding Tyler.

Naomi did not want to pry but she couldn’t help it. Christopher’s food was getting cold so she offered to feed Tyler the rest of his food so Chris could eat his.

“Chris, your food is getting cold. Don’t worry I’ll feed Tyler so you can eat.”

He was about to decline when Tyler interrupted. “I’ll finish my food myself Daddy so you can eat your food too. Mama says every food is sweeter while it’s hot.” Tyler said then started feeding himself.

Christopher sighed then dug in. It was going to be hard to stay mad at Naomi when Tyler was involved.
