Chapter 18
Read online · About 4 minutesShe patted her back. "Please calm down Jayda, I know this is unexpected but crying won't solve anything."
Jayda removed her head from Lily's chest. "Why is life being unfair to me? It was just a one night stand and here I am expecting a baby of your so-called cruel cousin."
"I thought you took some after pill," Lilian said with a confused look.
"I did. I took them Lily but it didn't work. I'm such a fool for going to bed with Sebastian without making sure he was protected. If only I had come to my apartment straight from Zach's house, this would not be happening to me."
"Please don't be too hard on yourself. Everybody makes mistakes." Lilian comforted.
"I know everyone makes mistakes but this mistake is beyond me, Lily. I'm not ready to be a mother." She sniffed.
"Have you been to the Doctors? When did you find out?" Lilian asked as she wiped a tear from Jayda's face.
"I've been feeling weird for days, Mom noticed too so we talked and she made me realize I could be pregnant. I denied because I was sure the after pill I used worked."
"For some reason, I couldn't stop thinking about the conversation with mom so I stopped by a pharmacy on my way home yesterday and the tests turned out positive."
"I've called my doctor and scheduled an appointment for tomorrow."
"You're keeping it right?" Lilian asked hopefully which made Jayda exhale.
"I don't know Lily, I'm so confused but I can promise you I'm not ready to become a mother."
"You're amazing with your nieces, I have no doubt you'll be a good mother. I know this is all sudden and crazy but I want you to stay calm. Whatever your decision is I'll be here for you." She assured, giving Jayda's hand a light squeeze.
"Part of the reasons why Zach left me was because I wasn't ready to start a family. Now, look at me, pregnant from a passionate one night stand."
"You said you never felt for Zach what you felt with Sebastian. It might be that you and Zach were not meant to be together."
"You're stronger than how you see yourself, Jayda and I know you will be a great mom. I also believe the universe cannot make you go through what you cannot survive."
"I know you're worried about your Job. You're wondering why this is all happening when you just got your promotion. You will be fine and I'll be here to support you. I don't mind moving in with you."
"Thanks, Lily." She mumbled.
"So will you tell Sebastian?" Lilian asked.
"I don't know!" Jayda replied immediately. "He will probably think I intentionally trapped him because of his wealth. Besides, I don't think I have the strength to face him. Maybe it's better he doesn't know about it."
A sad smile made its way to Lilian's face. "Sebastian's father was still pestering him for a grandchild on the night of his birthday. Uncle Albert and Aunt Vanessa will be the happiest when they hear you're expecting their grandchild."
"I never thought I would be saying this but Sebastian is into you Jayda."
"Did you tell him about me? I told you not to." She groaned.
"I told him about you indirectly and he was very mad at the mention of you being with someone else."
"Perhaps he was mad because he didn't get the chance to throw his pair of shoes at me as I did to him. I really do not want to think about him right now and neither do I expect so much from him. I want to focus on myself and what's next for me. I'll know what to do after my visit to my Doctor."
"Should I come with you to the appointment?" Lilian offered.
"Tomorrow is Tuesday, what will happen to your meetings?" Jayda asked.
"I can make an excuse. I'll tell them something came up."
"Don't worry Lily, I'll be fine," Jayda assured.
"Are you sure?" Lilian asked with a sad face. Jayda nodded.
"Okay, my work clothes are in the guest room. I'm crashing here tonight and perhaps for the rest of the week. Hopefully, nothing will come up that will require me to return to my apartment."
"Thank you, I'll appreciate your company because I really need to be pampered."
"So did you call your mom to tell her she was right all along?" Lilian asked.
"Mom knows. She knew the moment she saw me but she didn't push the matter because of how reluctant I was to accept the fact that She could be right. But I will call her tomorrow."
"Everything will be fine, you'll do just great," Lilian assured.
"I guess talking to you about it made me feel better. I'll begin to look at the positive side of everything and try my best to cope." Jayda confessed.
Lilian decided to cheer Jayda up by teasing her. "I'm so jealous of your unborn child right now. He is not even born yet and he's richer than me. You and Sebastian have this great intelligence; he is drop-dead gorgeous and you're beautiful. Just imagine how perfect your baby will be." She said which made Jayda blush.
"Whatever! I don't just want him or her to have Sebastian's attitude."
