Chapter 15
Read online · About 9 minutesI wake up the next morning to the sound of my phone ringing. Urgh. With my eyes still closed I answer the godforsaken device and hold it to my ear. Whoever this is better have a good reason for waking me up on a Saturday. "Hello?" I say in a groggy voice.
"Rise and shine green eyes!" Oh, Fuck no.
"How the hell did you get my number?" I demand, now fully awake.
"I can't be telling you all of my secrets, now hurry and get ready I'm waiting for you in your driveway."
"How the fuck did you find out where I live?!"
"Language, green eyes! As I've said, that's a secret, now hurry the fuck up, the day is being wasted." Then he hangs up. Great–note the sarcasm. Ignoring Wyatt completely, I go back to sleep.
A little while later I hear a knock on my bedroom door. "Come in!" I call, half asleep.
"Ari," I hear my sister, Alice, call but I'm too tired to reply so I grunt. "Ari!" She snaps this time, pulling the sheets off of me in the process. I jump into a sitting position and glare at her. If looks could kill she would be six feet under but so would I because she stares at me with equal vigour, her sea green eyes boring into me. We both have green eyes but hers are sea green whilst mine are much more vivid and bright, something I got from dad.
"What!?" I snap, ripping the sheets from her grasp and lying down again.
"Someone's here to see you, so hurry up and get out of bed."
Fucking hell! Can't a girl sleep in this day and age, guess not.
After Alice leaves, I quickly scramble out of bed and get ready because trust me when I say you do not want to get on the wrong side of her. Fifteen minutes later I walk downstairs and see Wyatt sitting at the breakfast bar. "Finally! What took so long, green eyes?"
I stick my tongue out at him but choose not to reply as I grab a cereal bar from the kitchen cupboards.
"I never knew Alice was your sister." Wyatt states.
I shrug. "I never knew you had so many siblings, what does it matter?"
"No, what I mean is, I know Alice. Her and Aria are friends, she's been over at our house a couple times. What surprises me is that you didn't know Aria. She's been here quite a bit as well, heck I've even dropped her off. "
"I mean, I don't really bother with checking up on Alice and Hugo when they have friends over and they do the same, it's a mutual agreement. That way none of us gets irritated with one another and no one gets embarrassed," I say and shrug whilst I do.
He nods. "Alright then. Anyway, it's time for another tutoring session," he starts, "but after we're going on another little outing to hold up my end of the bargain."
I internally groan at his statement for two reasons. One, he's absolutely horrible at maths. Two, this outing will be something dangerous, I'm sure. Yes, last time worked out fine, heck it was even enjoyable but it was still dangerous. This whole reckless fearless careless thing is pretty crazy if you ask me but for James, I'll do it.
~*~*~
As predicted the tutoring session went horribly but it could've gone worse. I decided that I should go back to much more basic questions to begin with so I dug out my old year nine textbook, sadly I think it was still a little too advanced. I've decided that I'm slowly going to work my way up from year seven work onwards if he can't do that there's no hope whatsoever.
"Okay, now that that's over," Wyatt starts, slamming my textbook closed, "let's go have some fun." Before I can even reply to what he's said I'm being pulled out of the house towards his car.
"Bye Hugo, bye Alice," I call just as the door slams shut.
Before I know it, I'm sat in Wyatt's comfortable car but I don't feel at ease. The last time I was in this thing he almost killed us with his insane driving, seriously, he drives like a maniac. When Wyatt gets in the car I turn to him. "Wyatt, promise me you won't drive over the speed limit this time," I beg.
He shakes his head at me. "No can do, green eyes. Just live a little and you'll enjoy the ride." Bastard. With that, we zoom off. I keep my eyes closed, maybe if I don't look it won't be as bad. "Come on, open your eyes, it's not that bad," Wyatt says but I ignore him and keep my eyes firmly shut. I hear him sigh but he doesn't say any more on the subject.
After what feels like a lifetime, the car finally begins to slow to a halt and the engine cuts off. I ever so carefully and slowly begin to pry my eyes open, giving them time to adjust to the light. We're nowhere in particular so I've no clue what's on this boys mind.
"Wyatt, where exactly are we?" I ask, after about a minute of walking.
"You'll see." Is his cryptic reply. I never get a straight answer when it comes to him.
After five more minutes, we finally reach a small shop on the corner of an old looking street. I can't see any signs on it but it looks quite run down. A bell chimes as we walk in. I look at my surroundings and I know exactly what kind of place this is.
A tattoo parlour.
"No. Nope. Absolutely not," are the first things I say once we're inside.
"Come on, green eyes, it will be fun. This is the kind of reckless and spontaneous thing you need to be doing."
"Hate to break it to you but I'm still seventeen so I can't even get a tattoo." Hah, there's no way I can get one now.
"That's fine. I've been coming here since I was sixteen. I know the guy who owns the place, he's cool, plus you're with me so we'll have no trouble getting you one."
I give him a strange look. "I didn't know you had any tattoos."
"There are a lot of things you don't know about me," he says with a smirk on his face. I swear, this boy is always smirking. "Come on, green eyes, don't be so boring."
Boring.
"How about this, I'll go first so you can see that it's not that bad," he says.
"Fine," I sigh, giving in. This will show him I'm not boring.
~*~*~
I did it. I got a freaking tattoo. Can I just say it hurt like a bitch. Seriously, why on earth would people constantly put themselves through pain like that voluntarily? It makes absolutely no sense.
Guess what, Wyatt barely winced when he got his. Honestly, is he half robot or something? How his face didn't contort in pain I will never know.
"See, it wasn't so bad," Wyatt says as we get back into his car.
I scoff. "For you. For me, that was pure pain. How the hell did you not feel any pain? Seriously, you had that smirk of yours on your face the entire time."
"Now that, green eyes, is a secret," he says whilst dusting off his jeans.
"You say that a lot," I point out.
"Well, I'm a man of many secrets." That he his. There isn't much I know about him, I did learn a bit the morning after Jordan's party but he's still such a mystery. I want to know more about him but for some reason, I just know that he won't open up to me, not yet anyway. Hopefully, one day he'll tell me the more personal stuff but for now, I know he's not ready and I can respect that.
Instead of pursuing the topic at hand I change it completely and we talk about trivial things whilst he drives. Guys brace yourselves, he's not driving like a maniac. I think my talking distracted him because we're actually driving under the speed limit, thank God.
Soon we arrive at my house but a small part of me wishes that we hadn't. I really enjoy Wyatt's company. Huh, never thought I'd say that. A small part of me wants to spend more time with him but I push the thoughts out of my mind and turn to the door handle.
"Green eyes," Wyatt calls, making me turn around. "This was fun." He smiles. I repeat, smiles, not smirks but smiles, a genuine smile and that makes me smile as well.
"Yeah, it was," I rasp out, suddenly losing my ability to talk properly.
Wyatt leans forwards so our noses are almost touching. I take a sharp breath, startled by the close proximity. "I'm glad you enjoyed yourself. I told you doing crazy things can be fun," he starts. "You know what, will you come to mine tomorrow?" He asks. "Let's face it, my maths is terrible and one session a week won't be enough plus I have something fun planned for tomorrow."
Without really thinking I nod. Guess I'll be spending my whole weekend with Wyatt.
"Great. Come around four?" I nod again because I can't seem to get any words out when I'm this close to him. "Make sure you wear black," he adds. "This is going to be so much fun." His eyes light up and when I'm this close I can see the shine the excitement brings to them. It's a breathtaking sight.
"And green eyes," he says. I hum in response. "Thank you."
"For what?" I ask, puzzled.
He moves so I can now feel his warm breath in my ear. "Just thank you," he whispers, the warm air causing goosebumps on my neck. He then pulls away but doesn't take his eyes off of me.
After a few minutes, I can't take his gaze anymore and get out of his car. "Bye," I say as I'm about to close the door.
"See you tomorrow, green eyes," I manage to hear him breathe out just before he drives off.
I walk up the driveway to my house, hugging my arms as I do. But I don't care about the cold, all I can think about is the day I've had.
Wait, what did I just do?! I got a fucking tattoo, underage might I add. Mum will kill me. Crap. Shit.
Oh well, I can't take it back now. At least I had fun.
